I have to agree that something isn't right about the girlfriend. I didn't believe her story at the beginning and then this morning I was watching the Today show and she looked liked she was smirking or something. I don't think she's telling the whole truth.

I agree. I don't think she did anything intentionally, but I don't think she's telling the whole story.

I also think that the Dad did have someone who had it out for him. Whether it be drugs, guns, whatever.

Two things have always been in my mind throughout this.

1. The GF is 17 and her BF works all night long. Once those kids got to bed (probably by 8:30 at the latest) all she has is time on her hands. Thinking back to when I was a teenager and had friends who were in somewhat similar situations (caregiver for a child while alone at night) it was not uncommon for those people to have friends drop by at night. Even if the GF is clean as a whistle, if she's let people in the house in the past, that means they've had a chance to run to Walmart and make a copy of the house key or leave a window unlocked so they could get in later.

2. This trailer is a rental. If the owner did not change all the locks when the current family moved in, then the people that lived in the trailer before them have access to the house. Not to mention, anyone the previous tenants may have given a copy of the key to. Even if the owner changed the locks, the owner has a copy of the key. And odds are, unless he keeps it in a safe, someone could have gotten to it. His relatives, friends, etc. Again, it's just a quick trip to Walmart and you have a handy dandy copy of the house key.

So even if the GF comes up clean, you have those two possibilities to consider. Sadly, I think many people could have had access to that house. Or maybe the GF stepped out for a few minutes to run to the 7-11 for a pack of cigarettes....

As for the back door being propped open with a cinder block......If I was going to sneak out with a sleeping kid, I'd do exactly that. Screen doors slam behind you if you don't shut them gently and if you have your arms full, you can't shut the screen door gently. The smartest thing to do would be to prop the screen door open so that you could make a quiet exit.

I rarely watch the news or read up on CNN, I get my news from here....but I"m praying for this little girl...hoping for a miracle

Why is it that a 25 year old MAN has a 17 year old girl for a girlfriend?...I find THAT a little "off". I'm wondering that she was also likely his girlfriend when she was 16..and that's even legal..so to speak. Kind of weird. Wouldn't want to be this girls parents having their daughter involved with this situation. Sounds like drugs are playing a role in what's going on here. The so called "step-mother" is no more than a kid herself.
Anyone taken a lie detector test?....If dad had nothing to do with it, I'd think he'd be first in line, so as to get himself cleared and out of the way, so that the police could focus on others. I'm just sayin'....

He did. He passed. That being said, this seems like a very dysfunctional family to say the least.
