Amazon trouble

Never had problems with Amazon before, but today I checked on an as-yet-undelivered order. It had gone through the same facility 3 times and another one 2 times. The message I get is "there is a processing delay because of misdirection of items." I'm currently on live chat with Amazon to see if I have any chance of getting my stuff in (3 different people's gifts!). One item is a Kindle!
Update--Earliest delivery--Dec. 27th.

Now, how does an order go through 2 facilities 5 different times? I ordered this stuff on Dec. 12th, by the way.

Wait, now ANOTHER separate order is missing, too.

It will also not be delivered.

I was finished, but I guess now I have to go back shopping--and nearest shopping area is 45 mins. away.

Yuck.

Edited: Okay, I told myself to get over it. Be thankful--I'm glad that I CAN go and get these items. I'm glad tomorrow is not the 24th. I'm glad I have these people to buy for. I'm glad that I have the food to stress over-not-getting-cooked-b/c-I'm-having-to-shop. . . .

You might do better by calling instead of trying to get it fixed via live chat.

Chat is not based in US.

Call--request agent in US. You may have to speak with supervisor first, but you can get to a US representative.

I had an ongiong delivery problem with Amazon using a shipping carrier Ensenda. ALL of my packages were being delivered a couple blocks away. Seriously, this poor guy who was single kept getting delivery's of diapers and baby toys.

Until I got the US representative, the Amazon agent could not understand why it was such a problem that my things were misdirected.

Also, instead of buying new gifts, I would print up a photo of the items and put them in a nice card for each of the recipients and give them the gifts when they arrive. I think people would understand about the shipping delay, especially since you ordered the items almost two weeks ago.

If you call and are firm (but polite), the agents may give you some Amazon credit on your account.

I have never had problems with Amazon either until this year...same thing with one of my packages ordered on Dec 2.... finally shipped Dec 15, then the shipping took it on a crazy route to and from places farther away...finally got it yesterday... did the chat online wasted 15 min getting no where...the sent email and heard from them quickly and they reshipped the item to me , will come after Christmas but at least it was coming... Yesterday pkg arrived smashed to bits but it was a book so it was ok...
Hope you get solved but chat is useless, don't think they knew what I was even talking about or cared...very poor.:goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I like the photo idea. I have been an Amazon Prime member for several years and have had no problems at all with my deliveries - 21 shipments (!) in the past 30 days and all got here when promised. Sorry you got the exception.

Are the items still available? I had that problem a couple of years ago, and I called, and they sent a new one out overnight shipping for free. It arrived on Christmas Eve.

I'm having the same problem! One of my orders was supposed to arrive 2 days ago (mailed 2-day shipping) and has bounced between CT, KY, and CA 3 times now!! It was back in CT this morning, but did not have a delivery date updated (still said yesterday). I called Amazon this morning, and they said it was UPS's fault for incorrectly routing the items, and that they wouldn't arrive until 12/27. I wasn't thrilled, but luckily the recipients of the gifts will still be in town then. I politely complained about the inconvenience, and was given a $10 credit on my account.

I'm a Prime member, and have ordered from Amazon too many times....and this is the first time I've ever really had a problem. That being said, it's still annoying that I won't have the gifts on Christmas.

Love the thankful attitude. Good way of looking at things!

I have had issue after issue like this with USPS, nothing to do with Amazon, but packages that I am sending.

What a huge bummer! I absolutely love Amazon and haven't had any problems yet thank goodness. In fact, my orders have always arrived early which is great!

I know you were upset with Amazon initially, but it is UPS/USPS/FedEx and they are so unreliable. I find FedEx to be the best in our area, but our Amazon stuff usually comes via UPS which are generally pretty good. USPS is a joke to me unless it's priority mail...even our daily mail carriers are unreliable - our neighbor is always bringing our mail over to us because they can't seem to read house numbers! And other days, they don't even bother to pick up our outgoing mail. It's really too bad that Amazon can't have its own shipping service, isn't it?!

I would just call instead of using the live chat. You also might be better to call the shipping facility as well and give them the tracking number. I ordered a photo backdrop over the summer and the tracking process stopped once it arrived at my local shipping facility. I called UPS and they were unhelpful but at least they did look for it. I then called amazon and they apologized (even though the issue was with UPS and not them) and still they refunded my money and added a credit to my account for my trouble. UPS never did find my item, but the way Amazon handled the situation I have made many purchases from them since. Glad you were able to look at the bright side and replace the missing items! I would still call amazon and see if they can't help you out a bit.

Now, how does an order go through 2 facilities 5 different times?

From my experience (former amazon CS rep who had a special interest in the weird routes UPS items were taking, made a HUGE stack of printouts of bizarre tracking info with notes (of what was happening, what UPS was saying, and what ended up happening, sometimes months later), and one of my Leads took it up the ladder to a meeting with UPS honchos...that's how interested I was in it), because there's something wrong with the package.

At this point, I would expect that when it does arrive, there's going to be something wrong with it.

Same thing here....ordered some toys and a Kindle Fire last Wednesday - they shipped it USPS! I got it today - package partially opened, box smashed, including the Kindle - if it doesn't work, its going back. Not happy at all!

I've been a prime member for quite a while.
This year I purchased a pricey drill as a gift for my husband and checked the box that it was a gift.
UPS arrived at my door while I was at work and handed the gift to my husband.
No box. Just the product with labels slapped all over it.
Way to ruin my surprise, Amazon.

When I called them to let them know what happened, I was told that it's really busy there, things happen and to have a nice day. I was so upset at the time, but I got over it.

I ordered a NEW computer mouse from Amazon. My mouse arrived in a plastic bag that had tape around it. It was very used and didn't even have the optical eye. I called Amazon again. They gave me a prepaid label to return it. They aren't sure why I got a used and broken product. I couldn't get a new mouse because it was sold out, but I got one on sale at Target, so it's all good.

The THIRD item I ordered was a set of bowls. They were pretty, but the bowls I received were not correct and the largest bowl was broken. I called Amazon and got a prepaid label. They said they'd send me another set of bowls. When I got the replacement bowls, they were also not the bowls I ordered. I had to return yet another package.

I've been buying from Amazon for years and never had to call them or return anything until this holiday season.

They must be swamped with orders.. I looked like a hoarder with all the boxes I had delivered this holiday season. I heart Amazon even with the oopsies this holiday season.

I live in the middle of nowhere and use my Amazon Prime constantly. I asked my UPS driver what percentage of the packages in his truck are from Amazon. He told me that the week after Black Friday almost 70% of the packages were Amazon ones! So I tend to give them a little leeway with an ocassional messed up delivery considering the quantity of items they ship. They have always "made it right" for me (including shipping a Fire overnight when my other one was AWOL...)

Some of the things for sale on the Amazon site are offers by other vendors and are shipped by that vendor.
