Amazon prime...anyone do this?

Love reading all the replies and I really like the idea of some groceries and personal items being purchased, would never of thought about that!

For those that stream video with the $79/year version, after that yearly fee they are no extra correct? When I try to look at the site it has "Rent for $3" etc, but that is just for those that are not members? The blurb says "at no extra charge", so I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly.

"Unlimited, commercial-free, instant streaming of 5,000 movies and TV shows at no additional cost."

I know this should be easy to figure out , but I can't seem to find exact info.

I like they have movies to stream that Netflix only has on physical dvd, so I might switch to this. Anyone give up their Netflix and/or HuluPlus for this? Or do you find it is better to have both...more options?

I don't think people will ever leave the house again due to the invention of Amazon prime.

I agree with this! Since we've had amazon prime (two years now), I go to Target less and have saved so much money. Practically everything we need is on Amazon, and we get it within two days! :goodvibes

Streaming video for those 5,000 movies and television shows are included in the full Amazon Prime annual fee.

Well, since Netflix is beginning to support Closed Captioning in large-scale, and Amazon hasn't even started to, yet, we won't be "switching" (although I'll continue to be an Amazon Prime member, for its core benefits). If Closed Captioning was not part of the equation, then I still don't see Amazon Prime beating Netflix, at this point: Not a single item on my Netflix queue is available as part of the Amazon Prime offering.

I love prime and feel it's worth the money.

At first I didn't think it would be but then I added up all the random stupid stuff I was buying to equal $25 when I only wanted a $5 book just to get free shipping (that took a week or longer vs. 2 days) I could have paid for prime a few times.

It was especially helpful at christmas time when prices would jump in a matter of minutes, I could buy the one thing, check out and be done before the price jump. vs wasting half an hour browsing for something else to equal $25.

They just added streaming tv and video free for all prime members too so that's a nice perk.

I buy almost everything on amazon because I often have survey money and amazon is tax free in my state so that probably is why I love prime even more.

Love Amazon Prime...the convenience alone is worth the $70 for my family..
there has been many times when my kids tell me they need something on short notice...a book for school, reeds for sax, music book...and instead of driving all over town for looking it, i order on Amazon and it shows up at my door. I must live close to a distribution center because I usually get my stuff the next day.

Amazon prime will change your life! :cool1::lmao: I'm an Amazon Prime evangelic and have converted many of my neighbors. Their lives, too, have been changed.

We've had it for over a year now and I find myself buying any and everything on Amazon with Prime - toothbrushes, 3 hole punch paper, clothes, K-cups, books, christmas gifts, humidfier filters, shoe racks etc...

The difference is that it's free 2 day shipping and when you realize you are out of something you can just go to Amazon and it shows up on your doorstep 2 days later. And you don't need a minimum purchase. You can just buy ONE toothbrush and Amazon gladly ships it to your front door in two days.

While I probably wouldn't pay for it, I have the college student membership since DH was taking an online class. Before, I made sure that I had the $25 for free shipping. Now, I can order at the drop of a hat! :thumbsup2

One thing that I have really appreciated it for is when showers slip up on me (wedding, baby, etc.). I live way out in the middle of nowhere, and it's not always convenient to shop. With the 2 day free shipping, I can get it fast or ship it to them fast with no extra charge for the fast shipping! :dance3:

DH said he was guessing UPS hated me for signing up for Amazon Prime.

Someone else lugs the big bags of dog food to my door now.;)

:scratchin Hmmm, I hadn't thought about the dog food... :)

 I wonder if Amazon has horse feed? I'd love to have that delivered too! ;)

Omg...I love Amazon prime! I think I need help though..lol. I have been on a shopping binge and its at my door the next day...LOVE IT! I have ordered groceries, dog food & products, hair stuff, dsi games for ds, etc....I'm addicted! I really think the FEDEX and UPS drivers are hating me about now!

I haven't found cat food, cat litter, etc., to be competitively priced (yet), from Amazon (Prime, specifically).

Thank you! It seemed to me some of the movies Netflix had only for DVD, this has streaming, for example, Social Network. I might not have looked closely enough though. I guess I have to decide if $79 is worth the price of my impatience to receive something in the mail :rolleyes1
