D'oh! Wish I'd waited a week for that one. I wonder if I can justify getting that for myself, and giving DD the other one. Since she's already latched onto it, and it's not like I have any chance to read it, anyhow.

Oh, and it'll come by Friday, so I'll have it by the time we leave for Disney on Saturday.

You do have 30 days to return the Kindle if you decide you'd prefer the one with special offers. This was exactly what I was waiting for, as most of the special offers are for things I use. There's also an offer for 50% off a Roku... so that would save me $50 right there.

You have to take advantage of the offer by May 28, thats when a new one will be offered. (you have until Aug. 28 to purchase the cover). The offer comes to you on your Kindle so it won't be offered to you at time of purchase.
You can purchase a SO Kindle at Target if you wanted to take advantage of it right away.

I love Amazon. I chose Super Saver shipping for the Kindle. Naturally, I thought I would change my shipping method to see if I could take advantage of the offer. I initiate a live help conversation via their website. The nice woman of Indian descent tells me the order has shipped and she cannot change the shipping method. She also informs me that if I need the item immediately, I can order another with overnight shipping, then refuse or return the one I ordered last night. I thank her, disconnect and consider my options. Amazon's site tells me I have 5 hours to order the Kindle and get it tomorrow via overnight shipping. I close my laptop and board my flight. I arrive in PHX and check my email... there's a shipping confirmation for the kindle I ordered last night and it's scheduled to arrive tomorrow... even on super saver free shipping. Yay!

I'd have to pry it from DD's grasping little hands, so I think we'll call the other (wi-fi special offer version) her birthday present.

For anyone who has a kid who's having trouble moving from little-kid chapter books to big-kid chapter books, the ability to make the type larger on the Kindle, combined with the lack of visual cues as to length, makes a huge difference. DD is a good reader, and fast, and she reads much faster and for longer periods of time on the Kindle than with a paperback. I can't wait for library books to be Kindle-able.

I bought the special edition Kindle at Target last week for $114.00 - didn't even realize that it had special offers on it til I read it on here. I took advantage of the 50% off cover this morning - great deal! I missed out on the 6 audible books offer earlier, bummer!

Well - yes on the May 28th part. But it's a lighted Kindle Cover, not a lighted bookcase. The cover incorporates a booklight that runs off the Kindle battery. I have it in red and it is extremely handy for reading in low light.

I think I saw the Kindle with special offers for under $100 ($98 ?) at BJ's last weekend. I was kind of surprised as I thought $114 was the price all retailers were selling it for.

Thank You so much!!! I decided to go ahead and order it w/the overnight shipping! DD really wants the lighted bookcase cover but $60. is to much. I am going to go ahead and order oernight shipping.

I got a special offer for a $100 Amazon Gift Card if I apply and am approved for an Amazon credit card. Applied, was approved right away and the $100 gift card is in my account. Sure am glad I never had an Amazon credit card before.
