Amazon.com

another solution would be contact the prosecutors office in the location of the store.sometimes they have a consumer type dept and seem like they are big on online companies scamming people. i had a company who charged my card, 2 months later had not shipped the item( I kept calling they kept claiming it was back ordered, finally i called the manufacturer and they said nope it wasn't) so i contacted the prosecutor in their location( oregon) & had my money back 2 days later.
as far as amazon goes, i have never had a problem either , last times purchasing from 2 dealers that made me a little nervous since i thought they were just online only places but it worked out fine( and weren't big ticket items)
however from my camera saga i will say, from now on i am just skipping the email contact and going straight for the phone with a hard copy letter follow up if needed. it seems like sometimes i send email after email and get ignored, which is harder to do with a phone call

Did ya try the credit card company and see if they can do anything?

I am so sorry you are going through this. It is not fun when you feel like you have been ripped off.

I wonder if the BBB could do anything? Even if it is against Amazon.. prolly not.

Anyway keep us posted.

I don't think amazon is in the wrong really. They are going with their policy. You canceled and that made things go awry. I understand your frustration, but amazon won't do anything until 4 weeks. But then when they do, you get results, and usually fast!

This is sort of photography related. On amazon they are doing the customers vote again this year. You go to the site, vote in all of six rounds for an item you would like to buy cheap.

You check back on the approprate date and you might be offered an item at a cheap price. (last year they had an X-box 360 core for $100).

They do have a couple of camera's:
P& S Panasonic FX-30 7MP w/ 3.6x OIS Zoom (Black)
Panasonic L1 7.5MP DSLR w/ Leica Lens

You can check it out here

I am planning on purchasing a Nikon D40 with the 18-135 lens kit soon. I have heard nothing but great things about B&H for camera purchases. I have also always been happy with my purchases from Amazon when buying direct from Amazon. Both have the same price and I am fine with either service wise.
Now here is where my question comes into play: If the price of the D40 goes down again as the new models roll out whom am I more likely to get a price adjustment on my purchase from? Something makes me think Amazon allows adjustments for a 30 or so day period but not sure about B&H and not sure on camera purchases with Amazon. Any thoughts when just deciding on pricing and not service?

Not sure about that. But I know that living in Washington state, Amazon charges me sales tax but B&H does not. So my larger purchases usually go to B&H.

I do know I am tax free with a purchase from either so no worries there! :thumbsup2

Amazon does within 30 days IF you are buying directly from Amazon and not from an Amazon seller.

I may just have to go with Amazon then for the purchase, as I have always been pleased with their customer service and if I have the chance to save something over that 30 day period then that’s a nice plus!

I've heard that Amazon is very prompt about processing price adjustments.

I'll find out soon as they did a "click here to show the price" thing on my camera today and the price dropped $55. Not a bad deal considering that I didn't expect the price to budge from anyone reputable for a few months. :)

The problem with Amazon is that, when you do the free "super saver" shipping, they seem to sit on your order for a few days before bothering to ship it. Fortunately, I was able to buy mine via Amazon Prime so I got it promptly.

My husband has $150 gift card from Amazon that he got from his company. Have any of you ever used Amazon to order a lens? They offer the lens (Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM with a Nikon mount) from 17th St. Photo, Quality Photo and 47th St. Photo for the best prices. I'd hate not to take advantage of this gift card and to order it from B and H instead. ;)

I can't remember, either my 85mm or my flash are from amazon. And my 40D is def. from amazon. I've only bought things that are straight from amazon (thus eligible for amazon prime shipping) though. I'd check both of those sellers out on resellerratings. I have heard that amazon os pretty good about protecting customers that use their sellers though.

I can order the lens directly from Amazon for $436, but the best price is from Quality Photo for $399. I checked out resellerratings but Quality Photo wasn't on there. There are reviews for Quality Photo on the Amazon site and everyone seems to like them, but maybe I should spend the extra $37 and order from Amazon? :confused3

i've ordered from amazon and it's affiliates, digital foto club, ace photo ( think those two are actually the same company),adorama and never had a problem...check the return policy though before you order as some charge fees if you send something back. i was a nervous wreck first time i ordered from ace as i have heard disgruntled commments about some of amazon's affiliates. if i needed the lens at a certain time i'd pay the extra( especially since you got money off anyway) if not i might try the cheaper place. most of the bad stuff i've seen is either charging restocking fees or takin forever.

I would look at the sellers ratings on amazon

47th st has over 27,000 ratings..

quality photo has 121

I've ordered big and small items through Amazon and its affiliated stores, including 17th Street and 47th Street, without a problem, just happen to prefer to deal directly, mostly with B&H. That said, it appears as though you may have a good grip on that $150 gift card - I would say don't ease up on that grip until you get your order placed for your lens through Amazon :rotfl:
