Amazon.com Deals

Well, telling kids Santa is an *** is really harsh. I would have freaked if I hadn't had anything bought before Dec.14. I would go to Walmart and get some things before I would tell kids that, Geez!
I have gotten everything I ordered from Amazon and really quick, couldn't be happier with them. I wasn't too worried because most of it is Birthday gifts because I had Christmas pretty much finished.

I know it's harsh but when you're feeling defeated like that, negativity tends to set in. That was DH's comment not mine. That and he kept saying over and over again "Geez, if I ever treated a customer like that (on hold for 20 minutes at a time, no real answers or solutions, etc....) I'd be fired (He's a manager at a retail store).

I'm not thrilled about not ordering til December 14 but we've had a few financial setbacks this year, like DH having an eye emergency this fall that cost us over $1000 in copays and prescriptions. Usually I like to be done by now but I had to wait til we had cash in hand to shop. I guess trying to be responsible came back to bite us this time.

As for just running out and buying replacement gifts, I will be going out to buy a few more things but like I said, money is tight so I can't completely re-do everything. We don't use credit cards after getting ourselves into lots of trouble with them when we were younger.

ETA-I also normally would try to not put all my eggs in one basket like this but my dollars stretched so much farther with these deals than they would have otherwise. Oh well, hopefully next year will be better with no financial/medical setbacks and I will be able to be done earlier and stress less

I'm so glad that you finally got someone to help you! Merry Christmas!

I'm so glad you got one of the good people!:wizard:

Thanks guys! There's still a lot that won't make it on time but there is a lot more that will make it on time that wasn't going to previously so I'm happy.

I hope you all have wonderful Christmases as well :goodvibes :santa:

Wow. Your first post just broke my heart and put a pit in my stomach. I would feel the exact same way if it were me. I'm glad you finally got a good rep....it's hard stressing like this at the holidays, but it seems like they are working things out for you as much as they can now. Don't be fooled....you might actually get more by Christmas than you think....some of the things I ordered said that they weren't going to get here in time either, and they actually shipped already and should be here tomorrow or Christmas Eve. Totally unexpected!!!

Good luck to you. If it gets that bad, maybe you can have someone come to your house as Santa after Xmas, with the gifts and apologizing? It might still be hard on Christmas day, but I think Santa's "oops" would be totally forgiven and forgotten about if he made a special visit to make up for it. ;)

I'm so glad that you were able to get some of the issues resolved!

I hope you and your family have the merriest Christmas!!!!

Thanks. DH actually had tears at one point and he said to me "This is going to ruin Santa for them. Three years old and six years old and it's ruined already" The man never gets too upset and normally would be telling me I bought too much so that was quite the shocker.

The rep that I finally got, she is just awesome. She keeps emailing and calling to follow up. She even gave me her personal email address at work so I could forward my original order to her for her to fix the things that were removed without my consent. I took down her full name and I will be writing to her supervisor and giving her a nice letter for her employee file- it's the absolute least I can do.

That is super nice to hear that things are actually moving quicker than they say they will. Wouldn't that be a nice surprise. I just kind of thought that with as busy as amazon is and as busy as USPS, DHL, Fed Ex, and UPS are that there is no way things would be quicker. How did you figure out that they would arrive on time? Did amazon's package tracker update?

What a cool idea about having Santa stop by after Christmas. I might just have to try that if a lot of things don't end up making it in time. I guess we'll see where we stand by Christmas Eve.

Thank you! All the best to you and yours as well! :goodvibes :santa:

A quick question though, when you make the IOU's, what do you do for them? Do you try to find a picture of the item and put it in a card or what? Not completely sure how to do this. There are a few things that definitely will not be here before Christmas and some that we won't really know until Christmas Eve so I figured I should start getting some ideas together for how to pull this off.

Again, thank you all for listening to my vents. When I posted this morning I had just gotten off the phone from my bad experiences with two people in a row and I was in a really ugly mood (as if you couldn't tell that ;))

I've only had to do two IOU's. I would just do a quick little thing in word or any photo software that you may have. I would find a pic of the item and of Santa and put your own wording around it. You could create a master template and then just change the word and the pictures for the different items. I would print them out on a color printer if you can. I would wrap them up in little boxes so that they still have something to open. Make sure to save enough paper to wrap up the actual gifts when Santa does deliver them ;)

I hope everything works out for you! It certainly sounds like you have someone at Amazon who is working their hardest to make sure that you get as much as possible by Christmas :santa:

Well, I'm bummed too. I ordered a really nice gift for my sister from Amazon on 12/14. Stupidly, I used free super shipping even though I was spending $200+. Of course, it just was rescheduled from 12/24 to 12/27.

Other Amazon packages I ordered that day and later have already arrived (also with free shipping), but of course the most impt package won't make it. The Amazon rep I spoke with was very nice, but had no suggestions for how to handle.

I've already decided to bite the bullet and sign up for Amazon Prime next year, but I wish I had done it sooner. I'm really let down, but I know my sister will understand. I feel bad for any kids that are impacted.

I just stopped by to say that I'm getting another $10 back on a toy I bought last week!

Sorry to hear about the disastrous order of Dec 14. I'm glad to hear you finally got a good CS rep to help you!

Okay I finally opened the box that came this morning(kiddies are in bed).. *sigh* DHL felt the need to kick the box a few times or something?? 3 of the boxes in the box are smashed up pretty darn good what do I do?? 3 of the 3 are presents!!!!!!!!!! I can't give them looking like this!

I got legos, shipped DHL, the boxes are also smashed but the outside boxes aren't horrible, although I am still thinking that DHL did it. I would think it would be obvious but I just can't tell!

What a bummer! What kind of things are they? I am thinking that amazon is not the best at keeping their boxes nice, shipped UPS, I got a mower, box broken, 2 baby tads and 2 caterpillars, all boxes are beat up and ripped.

Are they presents for your own kids? If so, just take 'em out of the boxes and "assemble" for ease of play.
I can't recall every receiving anything from Amazon in the last 4 or 5 years where the box was in great shape upon delivery. I don't count on it anymore.

My amazon *vent* is that I ordered on the 17th...the day they "guaranteed" 12/24 super saver delivery. Well, when my items hadn't shipped as of Wednesday, I started calling and emailing. Finally, someone with a firm enough grasp of the English language and a sense of the significance of the date 12/24 read the email and agreed with the copies of the screen shots I printed of the "guarantee." My items shipped on Thursday, and arrived in my city this afternoon. I'm hoping that the UPS guy doesn't get lost on Monday when my package is out for delivery. I'd love to be able to use this stuff for Christmas morning! If not, it was bonus stuff but I'll be refusing the package and demanding a refund. I don't need 15 lbs of moon sand unless Santa brings it! :rotfl:

none of the distroyed stuff is for my kids, kid k'nex is REALLY bad the back of the box is REALLY dented so much pieces are sticking out! one is a mikisa bowl how the glass in itself survived I dont know! and the other was a monster doodle thing... *sigh* this did NOT save me money if I gotta go buy all new this weekend!

It could still arrive in time I recieved 4 more boxes today. 2 of them was not suppose to be here untill the 24th and one of them on the 26th.

My mail lady just showed up with 4 Amazon boxes and one from Disney Shopping

Still a LOT more to come on Monday from USPS, UPS and DHL. I can't believe how Amazon is shipping everything in its own box.

I actually had to call Amazon directly, and called UPS to double check. Their websites aren't always updating, so I just went directly to the sources. Hope you get everything on time....I'm still waiting on one item, but it looks like it should be here tomorrow!

Something I learned about Amazon (the hard way) yesterday...

If you place an order and then makes any changes to that order (ANY at all) you are, in essence, re-placing your order. I had been waiting for weeks for my Amazon Kindle (on big time backorder) and was getting close to my ship date. So I realize that I've asked for it to be shipped to my office and I'm going to be on vacation when it ships so I changed the ship-to to my house.

BIG mistake. Kicked my shipping date back by weeks.

Customer service says, "nothing I can do" and "yes, it does, in fact, move you to the end of the line."

I could've cried as I've sooooo been anticipating having it while on vacation. :guilty:

Just a word from the (now) wiser!

I have not had any problems with Amazon until recently, and now I'm pretty ticked off. I went to sign in to my Amazon account, and it wasn't recognizing me. :confused3 I called, and the girl on the phone, while very pleasant, couldn't really figure out what happened. She said for some reason my account had been deleted, and it seemed to be a computer error. Yeah, it's easy enough to start a new account, but I PAID for Amazon Prime a few months ago! She said she put in something for my account to be reinstated, but it would take 48 hours. She even walked me through starting a new account, placing my order with regular shipping (12/17), said it was the last day to order and pay for regular shipping and still get it in time for Christmas. Once I had an order number, she refunded me the shipping costs immediately. Great, except with Amazon Prime I could have chosen faster shipping. Well, it's 12/23, and the tracking still says "arrived at shipping facility". So, it looks like it won't be here for Christmas, and Amazon has changed the estimated date of arrival to be 12/27. This is for 2 DS games that are easy to find in the stores, so I'm really wishing I hadn't placed this order.

I can't believe how Amazon is shipping everything in its own box.

I was upset about this last week to I when the barbie castle vanity arrived it was not packaged at all and its no little box either and my front door is open for all to see and no place to hide the box so it was a good thing dh was home b/c if it would have still been there by the time I got home dd would have seen in.

ETA: I know that it really is hard to box something like that but I had a cinderella tv shipped to me for xmas in 2005 from disneyshopping.com unpackaged it ended up stolen and they sent me another one the exact same way.

:scared1: WOW!! I would have not been happy with that...but I am surprised to hear they did that...I ordered a Bratz Ice Cream Maker thing for my DD, when I got home from work it was on the doorstep wrapped up in a huge white bag, with black inside and taped up...when I opened it the other night to wrap I figured out they obviously couldn't fit it in a box, so since it was in the brown box from the manufacturer which told you what was in the box, they wrapped it in the bag so if my DD could read she wouldn't see it. Guess it must depend on who got the order.

I do again have to give kudos to Amazon...I ordered a Hannah Barbie that you press her stomach and it sings for $6.99, well I went to wrap it on Christmas Eve morning and it didn't work, I e-mailed Amazon and told them, I didn't want to have to pay to send it back since it was so cheap. But I got a letter back from them apologizing that it was broken and that they couldn't have one to me by Christmas, but they were OVERNIGHTING me a free replacement and it will be delivered on the 26th! How is that for service!?!

I am personally going to write a letter to Amazon commending them on their great service. In this day and age customer service is way out the door, it is actually disheartening...but this really gave me hope. Many other companies should take some lessons from Amazon.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!! Hope your kiddos all loved the deals!! :santa:
