Amazon Annoyance

Im really annoyed with Amazon....I placed my order months ago for the 2004 Brits Guide, in order to secure one of the first copies, and yet despite numerous emails advising me of print date slippages, my 2 copies are still saying 28th April 2004 despatch date...yet I have seen the book in the flesh in my local WHSmiths !

So....ive just cancelled my order, and Im off down Smiths tomorrow to buy them from there.....watch them have now sold out.

grrrr.

Is it just me thats blessed with disasterous customer service wherever I go these days ?

everywhere I go to buy things lately seems to have bad customer service:
Bought dishwasher from Argos, the receipt says delivery in 7 to 10 days, when you ring them they tell you up to 28 days!
CDs from Play 247.com ordered expecting them to be despatched so that I get them on the release date (last Monday) and guess what they still haven't arrived. Then I find that I could have got them cheaper from Tesco anyway!

Did you try to ring Amazon? I only ask because we had a similar problem with our 'Unofficial Guide' order and I rang them and expalined the date I'd been given (March 2004) was well past the release date. The girl I spoke to was very apologetic, said it was a computer generated date - which they do if a book isn't released yet - and changed the date manually to the 'real' release date. We recieved the book just two days after it was released.

We ordered OUR copy of 'The Brits Guide' last Sunday and recieved it Wednesday - no problem. good job too because the bookshops in Birmingham hadn't got a copy between them when we went on Wednesday!!!

I know it's a pain to ring when you've ordered online, but often talking to a real person can help the situation!!!!!

I've only ever had one problem with an order on play.com, and that was when a dvd was lost during the postal strikes of this past summer (not the one a few weeks ago), and that was replaced/re-ordered without argument and arrived in a few days. Longest I've ever waited for an in stock item is about 4 or 5 days, and I've ordered maybe £500 worth of stuff with them this year. Saved a fortune too.

I've just now ordered the new KoRn CD which is not officially available till Dec 1st - they have it already and it should be it's on it's way to me tomorrow.

Never known them to be beaten on price either - matched occasionally on Amazon, but not beaten.
