I always enjoy the 5-star reviews that trash the product in the comments

Not at amazon, but reviews on say Kraft. I really enjoyed this recipe. But instead of mayo, I used sour cream and instead of ground meat , I used chicken and instead of onions I used potatoes. The whole family loved it. 5 stars.

Something like that happened with me. But with soup spoons. The number on the page was the number on the box, but not the item pictured.

I have been reading more reports of very obviously used products being sent out as new (dirty, torn, broken, scratched and scuffed, etc.) It has gotten to the point that there are several categories of products I will no longer purchase on Amazon.

I've often found when using Amazon reviews in deciding a purchase is to sort on Most Helpful. If there are a significant number of other persons saying by their vote that the review was worthwhile and if the review itself is positive then I can have some confidence in the purchase.

Just today we got a bucket of premixed cement (we need to patch some spots before painting our basement) from Amazon. The box was wet, the cement had leaked everywhere inside the box, and the product was unusable. I got online and started a chat with a representative, who kept typing to me to return it to the nearest Kohl's. I had to type three times that the product was everywhere and could not reasonably be returned before it sunk in with the rep. Finally, he got the message and refunded the full amount to the credit card we used.

As to reviews, I *always* leave one if it's needed. I left a 2-star review for a comforter set I bought that pilled up after only 1 wash. I also leave one if I'm happy with what I bought. Sometimes, it's a little impossible. I just bought a hole puncher from them and I got a notice to review it. It's a hole punch. It punches holes in paper. Not much else I could have said.

You could write about how beautiful the holes were after using the punch because you used to have to cut little tiny holes with tiny scissors to get them to fit in a binder. LOL

OMG, literally every website that has recipe reviews. Over half of the reviews are like this. "I changed every single thing about this recipe and it was amazing! 5 stars!" Ridiculous! Do these people not understand how reviews work?

You could write about how beautiful the holes were after using the punch because you used to have to cut little tiny holes with tiny scissors to get them to fit in a binder. LOL

Or had to train pet hamster to bite the paper on demand

Oh man, I saw one on a queso fundido recipe yesterday where the person said it was terrible and so hard to scoop with chips, but it might be better if you mix in cream cheese. Clearly had no idea what queso fundido actually is and thought it was supposed to be like queso dip.

I have to sort through the junk reviews that are either paid or from the incorrect products. I use pictures as part of the reviews to see what a product actually looks like, and read the 'most Recent' comments first. No need to focus on reviews from 2018 that boast the product when the quality has decreased since then.
