The G-force threads reminded me to go look on Amazon. It is $8.99 for the DVD. It then says this:

This title will be released on December 15, 2009.
Pre-order now!
Ships from and sold by Amazon.com. Gift-wrap available.

Want to receive this the day it comes out?
Order it in the next 10 hours and 34 minutes, and choose FREE Two-Day Shipping at checkout.

I've never done a pre-order before. Does this mean that if I order now, I will receive it on the 15th? Since the release date is the 15th, I didn't think they could send it out before that date. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm kinda confused. I need this movie on the 15th as it's my daughter's birthday. TIA

As someone who has done this regularly, and most recently with the new Harry Potter DVD, the answer is yes--you will receive it on the exact release date (15th). :goodvibes Amazon can send it out before the release date but the delivery date has to be on or after the official release date.

I think there was one time I got a pre-release DVD before its release date--someone at Amazon.com 'goofed' I guess. :lmao:

Yeah I got a prerelease cd the day before the release day once. But usually you get it the release day.

With the low price guarantee with the pre-release, if the lowest price on release day is less than what you paid, Amazon will refund you the difference. I've had this done twice for the new Star Trek and the Harry Potter movie on Blu-Ray. :thumbsup2

Wow - that's perfect! My daughter saw that it was being released on her birthday and thought she just had to have it! This saves me one trip to the store that day. Thanks so much!

I was excited when I saw this thread because DH wants The Hangover & DS's want G-Force which both come out on the 15th. I was just confused about the day it will arrive though because when I put them in my cart & go to checkout it says they won't arrive until 12/21???:confused3

I had pre-ordered the Hangover weeks ago but it said that it would arrive after Christmas. I cancelled the order.

I pre-ordered the new Harry Potter movie, weeks ago and it said it wouldn't be delievered until after Christmas. It was in my mailbox on Tuesday the 8th (day it was released).

Did you choose two-day shipping? I just ordered G-force and my confirmation says 12/15.

I got my Harry Potter DVD the day it came out and I also got $1 refund because they lowered the price! I have a free trial of Amazon Prime right now, so I'm not sure if you get it on release day if you choose super saver shipping.

I pre-ordered HP awhile back and got it Wednesday...

Not a biggie, we still haven't watched it.

I think my mailman is starting to wonder about me. I got an Amazon box and the DVD on Wednesday (seperate orders, so seperate packages)... DH got an Amazon box yesterday (my Christmas gift!)...and I got another Amazon box today. :rotfl:

I know that Amazon tries to gets it orders out in time for Christmas by shipping items separately (even if you request that your orders arrive in one shipment). However, it gets pretty annoying when you find yourself receiving 17 different boxes each containing one item! Happened to me a few Christmases ago and I was actually embarassed my the mountain of cardboard I had to wade through! I can't imagine what the mailman was thinking...

I have done preorders both with and without Amazon prime. That which was ordered with prime arrived on the release date. The other was a few days later.

Don't worry, my mailman must think the same thing. Four orders arrived this week. That darn free trial from Amazon prime is making it way too easy to buy!
