Amazing Race

If it happens I don't think it has anything to do with Phil. I'm sure it's something set up well in advance by the producers/writers etc.

Did Corey mention that before or after they won the trip? Lots of times ppl. have a. really positive outcome of good thing and somewhat act like "it was meant to be" more than it actually was as I think it's just human nature. I also think it's just as likely the players are asked to act really excited etc.
Well, if I had won a leg, and won a trip, I'd be really excited, regardless! Especially since the trips usually involve extras--zip-lining, helicopter tours, massages--that would make them even more interesting. Even if you were going someplace you wouldn't have picked. Corey mentioned it, after Phil said, "You're going to Fiji!", that it was always his father's dream to go there.

The gift trips all sound really nice--I remember back in the old days, where they might have won nothing for a leg, or $500 or something else small. I've long maintained that they should gift a trip of the Amazing Race course for that season, only going at a slower pace so you could really enjoy Sweden and Slovenia and Ireland and so forth.

I was glad to see Rob and Corey win and wow they did such a good job on it all.

I looked it up and the Riverdance was apparently the hardest dance routine thus far so it makes sense that they allowed some errors whereas in the other routines in seasons they are more exacting. That style of dance it's not uncommon to be doing it since you were a young kid so honestly kudos to them all for picking it up as much as they did! I thought it was so cute to see the flirtation between Corey and his dance instructor. He wasn't trying to be too much I think though where it crossed into an uncomfortable territory.

Anna Leigh grates on people because she's so harsh on her dad and the race in general. If the roles were reversed and she was dealing with a less physical stamina she doesn't seem like she'd appreciate all that yelling at her. There have been quite a few pairs in the past with an older participant with a younger participant and not everyone is like that so it stands out when you are. I remember plenty of teams where there's encouragement, understanding, worrying about injury of their partner, pushing too hard then realizing need to slow down, etc. Anna Leigh is more interested in solely winning for winning (at least that's how it comes across) and the experience, the bonding is really not that important to her. That's why it's playing out the way it is. Also they suck at directions but it seems like Anna Leigh is always about "let's just ask someone" so I'm not sure if their strengths lie in getting from point a to point b on their own and that ultimately is what caused them to peter out and end up at the bottom when they were in the top.

I like the remaining teams but my fav is def. Rob and Corey. Their attitudes towards each other, the experience and other teams is really why I'm rooting for them. It wouldn't have matter to them I think if they were out in the first round (no matter how disappointing that is). I like that Corey mentioned in this most recent episode that they've been able to bond/be together as adults in a different way (paraphrasing). It was very sweet.

If I were on the race, I'd be on it to win, too. What would be the point of watching people who didn't care if they won? I guess we'd see them shopping for souvenirs or trying out local cuisine before heading to the clue box. 😀

Well that's not what I meant. There's wanting to win it because you want it only you you don't care about anyone else including your teammate and that was more how Anna Leigh came off (there have been past contestants like that). Then there's people who want to win because they are on a prize-oriented show but take away much more than that. The brothers have won 4 legs and are night and day to Anna Leigh

I would hope you're not like Anna Leigh but more like the brothers.

I'm more like Anna Leigh, but I don't share your perception of her.

To all (sheesh): And if she were male, fewer people would think she's mean and pushy.

I have never seen anyone aggressively hassle the other teams about who U-turned them. That really put me off her. And if a man was treating a teammate like that, I think most people would say he was mean.

No, I'd think many people would say a guy was off-putting as well. Even prior Amazing Race threads here on the DIS can reflect that one regardless of the presumed gender of someone if you act like that viewers often don't have the most positive image of you.

It's not about her being mean or pushy. It was how she was treating her dad and the competition as a whole. Anyone regardless of gender gets the same impression from me. I'm not sure why you took my comment into a gender match here but then again I rarely see things are men or women but rather individuals

I said, "fewer people," not "you," and yes, I've seen teams upset about being U-Turned. But who wouldn't be? The teams know it's part of the game, but it must still be frustrating to have it used against them.

Clearly we view her differently. I'm okay with liking someone who treated the competition as . . . a competition.

Greg and John shared about the Expedia promo and a missing challenge in this week's episode.

In an exit interview with Parade,
Steve, what's your response when you hear that being said to you? Like you said before, it seems like you took motivation from it.
Steve: It takes me a little while to get pushed into a corner before I'll snap back. But the other times that we did were over navigation. None of that had to do the running part. The running part of it I was struggling [with], and she was pushing me. I mean, people who are personal trainers do that. I don't understand the world population coming after her for saying, "Come on, dad." I mean, she's in front and she wants me to come on. I got it. We're communicating the whole time. You don't see that part.
Anna Leigh: Well what they don't show, too, is how often I was getting in trouble for leaving him. Because you can't be more than five feet away from your partner. And so every single time I would leave within five feet, running in front of him, I would be told to slow down. So that's when I would turn around and be like, "Hey, come on dad!"
Steve: Those "come on, dad"s were preceded by a cameraman or somebody yelling, "Stay together, come on dad!"
Anna Leigh: There's other stuff they didn't show, too. For example, on the stairs I was also telling him, "Go sideways. Use different muscle groups. Go backwards. Maybe take a break. Turn around and walk up backwards." And none of that shown. I was truly trying to encourage him.
Steve: I would have never made up those stairs without hearing my daughter's voice above me. telling me, "Turn sideways, go backwards. Use different muscles." Nothing helped. But you know what? That's 1100 stairs I climbed. And I felt accomplished till I got to the spiral stairs. Then I was like, "Girl, you're gonna have to be patient. I'm cruising!"

I'm not sure why you decided to quote me then. If you're okay with it you're okay with it. By all means do so. I don't personally have an issue with your viewpoint but you seem to have one with mine (and with others I guess who also expressed not liking Anna Leigh). It's a tv show and this is merely a thread where we just talk shop about it 🤷‍♀️

Either way most seem to like the 3 remaining teams which isn't the case as often so bittersweet for next week's episode but at least we don't have to wait too too long for the next season (mid-March)!

Thank you for posting this. The editing certainly works to create certain effects.

Yes, editing certainly impacts how viewers see things.

Also in the interview:
So you mentioned Robbin and Chelsea. And we did get a couple of moments of you being unhappy with them helping you when you asked for it. But then we get to this interesting moment at the tiles Roadblock where it seems like Anna Leigh, you find Todd's tile and choose not to help him. Talk to me about your thoughts on both Robbin and Chelsea and helping other teams.
Anna Leigh: That was a total mess up. Because I remember that moment. Todd and I were working together. And what I said in that moment was, "I think I see Todd's tile. No, I don't think that's his. I'm not going to tell them." They cut out the middle part and made it seem like I said, "I see Todd's tile. I'm not going to tell him." And I was like, "Are you kidding me?!" Shaking the TV. And then, of course, here comes the trolls on the internet.

Tearing up like usual. I was rooting for any of the teams, but when I saw how much the friends, mustachios kept hanging in there and were so close, I really, really hoped they’d win it . Never would’ve expected them. Such great attitudes, always positive , deep friendship, and so doggone close!! All he teams were so open to whatever and wherever the race took them, and seemed to appreciate the adventures.
The brothers ran an excellent and positive race. They proved good at physical and mental challenges and travel/ directions, and so peppy, but my favorites were still the father/son.
Goodness , what a wonderful, loving. Supportive bond they have , and so positive and talented in the challenges!
Great season!!

I was really hoping the best friends would win. Out of the 3 teams, the brothers were the 1 team I was hoping didn't come in first but at that last challenge I knew they would win.

Although I liked all three teams, I was rooting for Joel and Garrett. When I like all the teams I tend to root for the one that I think the money will benefit more from winning the money. Garret has a special needs daughter and that money would have made a huge difference in their lives. The brothers are young, extremely smart, and just starting out and will have plenty of time ahead to make money.
