I do think that there is a way forward... but you'd probably have to go back to a Season 8-style cross-country format, with isolated tasks. And I'm sure that people would prefer to travel outside of the States, but TAR Canada's first season was quite popular and they never left the country.

I saw the CBS intervew with DeAngelo and Gary and it was kind of hilarious. DeAngelo does lean into his bitter side, and you get this dry, sarcastic humour that fits him so well.

Will win: Boyfriends
Want to win: Beard Bros

I‘ll be happy with whichever team wins. They all played a tough race, and they allied with the right people to be able to make it to the finale with the alliance intact. Boyfriends and Beard Bros rubbed some people the wrong way with their play, but as someone said earlier, if this was Survivor, the Boyfriends definitely had the outwit and outplay aspect of the game covered. These 3 teams dominated this season. Sad to think this is the end of the series pretty much though. And not just because of the pandemic, you can tell this show has been an after thought for CBS for a few years now. They don’t hype, they hold filmed seasons for years before airing them, they air them in off season (except for this season where they had no choice). Survivor will be CBS first show to resume filming and I doubt we see another Race for at least 4-5 years.

I think the Beard Bros will win. They seem the most capable out of the 3 left, not that the other teams aren't capable. I just think the Beard Bros have an athletic and mental advantage over the other teams left.

I agree! I think that Riley and Maddison have the right combination and will win. They are also peaking at the right time.

Maybe it's just the editing, but Will and James seemed to rely on the alliance too much and didn't think for themselves enough.

I would like for Hung and Chee to win. I've really admired Chee in the race.

I agree on your things. The boyfriends, editing-wise, seem much more like instigators who then watch their plans unfold. It's their strategy but as far as actual tasks not exactly seeing them being the strongest by themselves and they tend to get very frustrated when they can't get something immediately. On the other hand the beard bros have def. played strong on their tasks, getting help at times but they've played more independently.

Of the three left I'd say Beard Bros have the highest chance of winning so long as they maintain their cool and don't let outside stuff mess with the concentration. As a team they work well together. Hung and Chee could win too if they push themselves to be in the limelight instead of in the background.

Now as for who wins - if we presume that this week's recall task replaces the final recall task, I'd favour the Beard Bros.

We watched the first season, but I stopped when they had that stupid challenge where the teams had to play hockey against each other and had to score to move on. The losers had to wait for the next team to catch up. One team went from second place to last and was eliminated on that challenge alone. I thought it was very unfair to make them play against each other, rather than be able to test their skills independently. I stopped watching after that.

As for season 8 that someone mentioned - was that the one where they did the families and didn't leave the U.S.? As I recall that season was a ratings disaster. People watch TAR for the exotic places they go. Sure, they watch for the game, but seeing the different places and cultures is part of the interest in the show.

TAR Canada has had several seasons, and it would be new to US audiences.

First season of TAR Canada was a bit ragged. They were still getting the haven't of things, and subsequent Face Offs were a bit more balanced.

Mind you, there was still a hockey challenge that nearly sunk a team - but that team happened to be gold medalists in women's hockey. It's also where RHaP picked up the phrase "five-hole" from, if you follow their podcasts.

I agree TAR has been an afterthought for a while. I think it's because of the expense of it. Something like Big Brother costs them practically nothing compared to TAR and even Survivor. It's a shame because I think TAR is the best reality shows out there.

I just read an interview...The Amazing Race Gary and DeAngelo feel betrayed... The Beard Bros pretended to have an alliance with the Footballers in the last episode and said they should be the last two teams standing. Riley and Madison wanted Gary and DeAngelo to give them the answer if they got it first and they would do the same. Beard Bros betrayed them. Their conversation was off camera.

The boyfriends spend a lot of brain energy on sabotage (and vanity) and the beards spend their energy propelling themselves forward. The others just seem to always be a few steps behind and correcting mistakes they've made.

I liked the Beards before I found out they were backstabbers. They straight up lied to Gary and DeAngelo.

I think Hung and Chee were carried into the final. Will and James may just pull this off.

You really have a lot invested in Gary and DeAngelo. It’s a game, being played on TV. There is going to be lying and cheating to get ahead. Gary and DeAngelo are big boys who knew that going in. They’re not children. They’re probably just upset that they didn’t think to do what Beard Bros did to them. These are professional athletes who know they have to do whatever it takes to get ahead. Basing your entire take on the season on how 1 team of ex-NFLers was treated isn‘t the best take on the season.

And as for the conversation off camera, I’d like to hear productions or the a Beard Bros take on that, as I’m not sold on that story coming out of DeAngelo’s lips. They very well could have made that up for better PR after the fact. Remember, they’ve had almost 2 years since filming to stew on all the emotions and haven’t been able to talk about what happened to them. Lots of time to mis-remember things and enhance things in your memory.
