The Gaghan (sp?) mom, looked so sad in the van ride to the pit stop. She was definately feeling guilty. Which is probably accurate, did you notice she was spreading her beans out nice and neat instead of a down and dirty search? Must be a perfectionist. And that poor little girl. I was heartbroken for her.

I her major mistake was spreading them out too far. She should have spread out a small pile at a time and then gone through the beans with her hands. The action of raking over them repeated probably kept rolling the red one under the others. I truly felt bad during their elimination. I wanted them to go further.

Did anyone watch the Gaghan's on The Early Show this morning? I forgot all about it & didn't watch :(

I keep going back to the Paolo family - is it the editing?..or what? They were so disliked - yelling at each other. Now we are seeing a different side to them - are they just getting along because things are going their way? I'm wondering if the producers are setting the stage for them to win this thing? hmmmm.......

I was a Weaver family fan at the beginning - now I'm just seeing some bratty teenagers and their "trying-to-cope" Mother. I've never known people who pray out loud for "stuff". I pray to God quietly - it's too personal. (When I was a kid & we went on any kind of family trip, we said a silent prayer that we would have a safe trip - totally different from what the Weavers are doing.)

I agree. I too wonder what isn't being aired. I really wish TAR would have a reunion show after each finale. I would love to see Phil interview the teams to hear their anecdotes.

Last night one of the other teams mentioned that the Weavers told the driver of their boat to slow down when they were on a lake, so the Weavers could get ahead. Also, Mom Weaver chastised one of the Linz brothers when he was razzing Rolley at the ball field. Last night one of the Weaver daughters said, we were raised not to trust other people and to just rely on family.

All of that said, and in addition to the other comments they made about each team last night, the Weavers seem just like any other team that has competed on this show, good and bad. I don't like or dislike them, they are not my favorites or on the bottom of the list for me.

Those doggone Aiellos are growing on me, those boys were hugging their mom soooo much last night. And the dad, "I love her, that's it."! WHo woulda thunk it?!

I would LOVE to know what the Weavers did to make the other teams hate them so much. Most of the stuff we see is when they are alone and not with the other teams. Yes they are annoying and say some questionable stuff (not to mention the praying) but the other teams aren't seeing that. So something must have happened or is happening at the pit stops. Would love to know what it is!

Sometimes--when you think you are sooo much better than everyone else (in this case "We're Christians")--it emmanates into various stuff.

All the snide remarks they made at the yield--as teams were passing by...

And the behavior of the kids---the one LAUGHING over the Paolo's livlihood (OMG--they're standing in front of a garbage truck--ha ha....ha ha...yeah that is real funny from a Christian....NOT!), punching the photo--looking through the photos..I think at one point--picking out which one of the sisters oops--I was bleeped---"chest area" were fake.

There is no way in a stressful situation that they are keeping that turned off from any competition. It has got to be emmanating big time.

I now despise that family. And I hope they are put properly in their place....PLEASE GOD....IF that is your will!

I don't mind all the praying--really I don't...but all it has done is to show what hypocrites this family is. It is very tragic that they lost their dad. But being Christian and father-less does not make them deserving to win this race.

Even Rob and Amber weren't disliked this much.

I hate to see it--but I see the Weavers doing a drive by like R&A--but at least they might say a little prayer as they pass.

I was so sad last night :guilty: I really like the Gaghans. They were always positive and encouraging to each other. They never snapped at each other or finger-pointed. I think that's hard to do with little kids while you're racing around the world.

Yes, but it would be a prayer of thanks!

I can't help but feel if this was a Muslim family you would all be showing so much more tolerance. This is one time I'm happy to be in the minority.

Kristen

Editing--we don't know the sisters didn't ask other teams. The Editors were probably searching high and low for something good to post.

And a muslim family wouldn't punch a sign--make fun of someone's livlihood--and do "guess who's got fake ones".

This isn't an anti-christian thing. They really didn't bother me much until last night. They did so many un-christian like things...they were horrible.

Yes we all sin--but they just made themselves so ugly last night b/c of their behavior. I have NO sympathy for them anymore.

I don't remember that, but I believe you.

Aaah yes--now I remember....way back in the beginning of the thread, no one mentioned it...and I posted it b/c I thought it was funny.

But as they were doing the first task way back on the first episode--as the families were driving somewhere--the Weaver son--was indeed the one who said--look--there goes the despearate housewives (not with quotation marks as I am not sure of the precise quote--but it was something like that).

My favorite team got eliminated -- boo hoo -- the kids reminded me of my own kids. I enjoyed watching them.

Yes, I don't understand completely why the other teams don't like the Weaver family -- maybe something has been edited out???????

Now, I don't know which team to route for???? :confused3

What other things?!?!?! This is my point. You can't even give me a specific. People here are saying "I don't like them because they are a hypocrites" and then can't back it up with specifics (except last night, which again, I do not condone). That is not fair. If you hated them from the beginning, as the other teams have, tell me what they did before last night to deserve it. I can however repect the fact that you say "I don't like their personality" because I know there are things you can list.

You would have to watch each and every episode to really understand.

The fact that they don't trust anyone (as stated last night as just their general OM in how they live)---if I went and watched every episode....they are rude to all the teams. They don't laugh--make jokes or anything..they are very alienating. They have no endearing qualities that makes any of what they do understandable or likable.

I remember Team Guido on Season 1--I kind of hated them, but liked them. The editing was very up front from the very beginning that they were there for themselves.

However--with the Weavers...it wasn't edited that way--and with some very key statements (sorry--I don't have TIVO installed in my brain and am unable to do any quotes)--they are not at all endearing, they aren't very likable...and with each and every encounter--or not encounter...they are just plain rude. And then to say how good they are and how wonderful they are b/c they are Christian (which we are reminded with every episode)--that is the hypocrisy.

The major thing they showed--which was them being sneaky, no big deal....was in the New Orleans Airport. Everyone had gotten their tickets....so they weren't very sure of being in airports and what to do in what not--not sure if an act or not...but really, no big deal. So the Weavers go to a ticket counter to ask general airport information. To everyone, it looked like they were trying to check flights and get something different, so everyone is on edge. The family just got basic airport info (they didn't show it--but stuff like security checks, ticket counter stuff--pretty basic stuff they were asking about). So---they leave the counter and walk past some teams. Now--with noses high in the air...walked right by them--without acknowledging their existance or anything. I don't recall which family (I think they were eliminated that episode), but they asked them what they had found out (IMHO--in a non-threatening manner...but they were indeed being nosy to see if their was a scoop). Anywho--the Weavers didn't say a word. Not even a straightfoward..."didn't find out anything" or a "none of your business". They said NOTHING.

Strategy or not--that is just rude! There is no reason for that. They could have lied to get everyone in a tizzy--but they didn't want to do that. So they just decided to remain mute.

That was the first major thing they showed the Weavers did.

And in restrospect--knowing that they choose not to trust anyone (which is beyond rediculous b/c not trusting isn't Godly permission to be rude)--you could probably find more specifics.

Now that they have shown two--very very MAJOR rude and inappropriate behavior....it makes it easier to keep a watch on them--and the other stuff will just pop out.

I don't have instant recall--so I cannot go and recall each and every example--but it does not mean they don't exist.

Stress brings out everyone's true personalities. This is why the Paolo family (the Italians, right?)--is growing on people. They showed them so nasty in the beginning---they showed them being nasty last night..but man--they have shown them to do some endearing things--being nice to other teams...it's like--WOW...they may fight a lot--but there is something there and they are indeed nice people.

With the Weavers--it's the opposite....this is a nice Christian Family whose dad was taken very tragically.....they have little nuances...big deal. The teens are whiny--well that's life with teenagers...did they just snub them--wow that is rude..."We're Christians--and that's what's important"...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha A Garbage truck-OMG...a Garbage truck...ha ha ha ha.
(ETA: And the idea that mom is not choosing these as teaching moments and not saying anything at all about the rude things her kids are doing. It's like they have the Golden ticket and can do whatever they want.)

Now--with the two families....I didn't think there was anything to like with one...and nothing to dislike with the other. As the personalities emerge and we "get to know the players"....it goes to show--in both cases...Looks were VERY deceiving.

hope that helps! I was happy to root for a Florida team in the beginning and with each week....I'm not so happy to do that anymore.

I could thump that Gaghan mom on the nose for not dropping to her knees. I did enjoy them. She looked pretty disappointed in herself.

I have tried to give the Weavers the benefit of the doubt. But, as noted by another poster, I was so disappointed when the kid said they were raised not to trust anyone (TV editing or not). Very sad.

And why was the mom YELLING at the daughter to pray? She was screaming for her to pray to find the bean, I rewound it a couple of times. You can't make someone else pray. I was sad for them. I just don't get them.

How ugly were they when they made fun of everyone at the yield? And let's all remember that every team wanted to exercise the yield on them. The Paolo's just got to them first. The Paolo's were on that long bus ride to Huntsville or wherever with them when the mom and one of the kid's wigged out. I have a feeling they saw something we didn't. They were totally behaving like sore losers when they were on the yield mat. I just don't get it. And that New Orleans family was on that same bus trip, remember how much they disliked them, too? Yes the Paolo's still annoy me, but I teared up when they came in first. I wish they would stop yelling.

I'll hop down from my soap box.

I couldn't stand the Paolo family in the beginning. They were obnoxious and annoying. I've actually grown to like them though. They seem like they are really getting something out of the whole experience and it's nice :)

Kristen

I remember when Uechenna and Joyce lost all of their stuff, last season, and some people came to their hotel and gave them things and that was not on camera. I am sure some of the giving is on TV and some is not. I suppose we will find out some day. I was glad the Weavers gave them $$. One of the sisters made the comment, they are nice to us and we are nice to them. Did I get that right? I seeem to remember that from last night. It is not everyone who dislikes the Weavers. I did have a conversation with my daughter about how mean their comments were about the other players. I didn't mention how mean for christians to make the comments, we just discussed that is was bad sportsmanship.

I am a little confused about a lot of posters on this thread....Have you watched previous editions of the race? I just don't see how the Weavers have done anything that bad as far as "the game" goes. Compared to previous editions, they are positively saints.

Another thing to remember is that they have 3 teenagers on their team. Does anyone live with or spend a lot of time with teenagers. Like it or not, that is how many of them act. All the other teams are a bit older and "mature" (I use that term loosely for the remaining teams). I think it is odd that the other teams are getting along so well, especially this far into the race. We haven't really seen that in past races. As for the team names, all the other teams use them too, so they are just as bad as the Weavers (if indeed they did make them up).

That being said, I did like the Weavers at the beginning, but they are starting to grate on my nerves. I actually don't really like any of the teams right now, but if I had to choose I guess I would pick the Bransens.

What are the team names so far?

Weavers - team Florida
Paolos - team New York
Sisters/Godlewskis - team Desparate Housewives
Dad and daughters -
bros and sis -

Gaghans eliminated - Marathoners

Yeh that's what happened. But then they turned around and made fun of their physical appearences while waiting at the yield.

I've watched every season and the Weavers rank pretty high in my book of annoying players. The part that gets me is how they claim to be all saintly but then are just as nasty, if not more so, then the other teams. There's always a team I end up rooting against and as of last night that team is now The Weaver family.

I have watched All seasons. The only thing missing from the Weavers is child abuse. B/c so far--the only team I can think of that is worse is Victoria and Jonathan.

Even with most other teams--they know good behavior from bad behavior and they acknowledge when they are being sneaky or mean.

The Weavers don't acknowledge anything except their faith and nothing is ever said by mom to the kids that what they are saying is rude and wrong and unChristian.

I know lots of Christian families. Their teens would not be behaving this badly.

Oh--and I just rememebered my other thing about the Weavers which I think is hilarious and just how small their world is.

Javier is "H"avier...not "J"avier (when pronounced).

The district of columbia is south of Pennsylvania

Lake Ponchartrain is not one of the great lakes.

They lack basic geographical and world skills that I find an absolute riot.

It's nothing do with being saints...I don't like they way they act, I don't like what they say, I don't like their attitude, I just don't like them. I've seen enough to determine that, and I'm not going to root for them.

It's because they all have a common enemy. :teeth:

Anyway, the Paolo's are really pulling together aren't they? I never would have guessed it during the first episode but it's sweet. :goodvibes

I agree with you on this.

It isn't their bad behavior that makes it so bad....it's that they proclaim themselves in a self-righteous manner as good people...like they have a good and bad side...they give the appearance of good--but it seems there is always bad to go along with it.
