What other things?!?!?! This is my point. You can't even give me a specific. People here are saying "I don't like them because they are a hypocrites" and then can't back it up with specifics (except last night, which again, I do not condone). That is not fair. If you hated them from the beginning, as the other teams have, tell me what they did before last night to deserve it. I can however repect the fact that you say "I don't like their personality" because I know there are things you can list.
You would have to watch each and every episode to really understand.
The fact that they don't trust anyone (as stated last night as just their general OM in how they live)---if I went and watched every episode....they are rude to all the teams. They don't laugh--make jokes or anything..they are very alienating. They have no endearing qualities that makes any of what they do understandable or likable.
I remember Team Guido on Season 1--I kind of hated them, but liked them. The editing was very up front from the very beginning that they were there for themselves.
However--with the Weavers...it wasn't edited that way--and with some very key statements (sorry--I don't have TIVO installed in my brain and am unable to do any quotes)--they are not at all endearing, they aren't very likable...and with each and every encounter--or not encounter...they are just plain rude. And then to say how good they are and how wonderful they are b/c they are Christian (which we are reminded with every episode)--that is the hypocrisy.
The major thing they showed--which was them being sneaky, no big deal....was in the New Orleans Airport. Everyone had gotten their tickets....so they weren't very sure of being in airports and what to do in what not--not sure if an act or not...but really, no big deal. So the Weavers go to a ticket counter to ask general airport information. To everyone, it looked like they were trying to check flights and get something different, so everyone is on edge. The family just got basic airport info (they didn't show it--but stuff like security checks, ticket counter stuff--pretty basic stuff they were asking about). So---they leave the counter and walk past some teams. Now--with noses high in the air...walked right by them--without acknowledging their existance or anything. I don't recall which family (I think they were eliminated that episode), but they asked them what they had found out (IMHO--in a non-threatening manner...but they were indeed being nosy to see if their was a scoop). Anywho--the Weavers didn't say a word. Not even a straightfoward..."didn't find out anything" or a "none of your business". They said NOTHING.
Strategy or not--that is just rude! There is no reason for that. They could have lied to get everyone in a tizzy--but they didn't want to do that. So they just decided to remain mute.
That was the first major thing they showed the Weavers did.
And in restrospect--knowing that they choose not to trust anyone (which is beyond rediculous b/c not trusting isn't Godly permission to be rude)--you could probably find more specifics.
Now that they have shown two--very very MAJOR rude and inappropriate behavior....it makes it easier to keep a watch on them--and the other stuff will just pop out.
I don't have instant recall--so I cannot go and recall each and every example--but it does not mean they don't exist.
Stress brings out everyone's true personalities. This is why the Paolo family (the Italians, right?)--is growing on people. They showed them so nasty in the beginning---they showed them being nasty last night..but man--they have shown them to do some endearing things--being nice to other teams...it's like--WOW...they may fight a lot--but there is something there and they are indeed nice people.
With the Weavers--it's the opposite....this is a nice Christian Family whose dad was taken very tragically.....they have little nuances...big deal. The teens are whiny--well that's life with teenagers...did they just snub them--wow that is rude..."We're Christians--and that's what's important"...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha A Garbage truck-OMG...a Garbage truck...ha ha ha ha.
(ETA: And the idea that mom is not choosing these as teaching moments and not saying anything at all about the rude things her kids are doing. It's like they have the Golden ticket and can do whatever they want.)
Now--with the two families....I didn't think there was anything to like with one...and nothing to dislike with the other. As the personalities emerge and we "get to know the players"....it goes to show--in both cases...Looks were VERY deceiving.
hope that helps! I was happy to root for a Florida team in the beginning and with each week....I'm not so happy to do that anymore.
