This could have been planned well before they knew who was coming on the amazing race.
I agree that the task was probably planned before they knew who the teams would be. If they knew who this team was and they planned the task anyway, then that is cruel. I don't care how long it's been, I've lost a parent, it still affects you to be in a situation that reminds you of the loss.
