Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

Gaghans - Love them. Awesome positive outlook, one of the only teams to even have one.

The Godlewskis - got to love the pink ladies.

The Weavers - Keep having bad thing happen to them after asking for God's help, hmmm....

Paolos - I'll be chearing as the mom stands on the pad crying after having cost her team the race.

Rogers - Glad to see them go, the dad was a complete jerk.

Well if it doesn't get any better after next week then I don't think I can see myself wastng the hour to watch it it has just been to damn slow and no real challenges no language barriers and that is all part of what makes this the best reality show going and it has fallen well short of the mark this time around.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but the Godlewski sisters grate on my nerves. Too many high pitched voices yelling at one time  Other than that though, I don't have a problem with them.

Go Aiellos!! :Pinkbounc

Well so far (since this can all change in future weeks) I'm liking the differences this time around (but of course I like the old format as well). So far there hasn't been any "equalizers" that really take away the race element. So far it's been more of a race and I like it.

There also seems to be more of a element of needing to work together. Too many times for my taste the winners have been a couple with one great person and a total whiny hanger on. Looks like a weak will cost them the race this time.

I agree I am all for getting excited and so on but they take it to a level that exceeds what is truly necessary.

I agree. It doesn't seem like a team with a weak link will survive this season. It also bothers me when they have the regular teams and there is one strong person and one whiny hanger on. I liked when they made the change that each person had to do half of the roadblocks. That helped a lot.

I think that was after Chip and Kim won, I think she did 2 Roadblocks herself.

Another thing I seem to like about this race (so far) is the driving. It is not good TV but it makes me feel that the racers are doing the work themselves versus all the cab rides in previous shows where if you get a good driver it can help you out tremendously. The race aspect is in your own hands as far as route choices, map reading, gas budgeting etc.

That helped to some degree and maybe the best they will able to do from that angle.

The real key would be eliminating the "equalizers" that allow teams to catch up (from being behind two hours or more because if the hanger ons) and catch the teams that are truly strong.

If we had actually got picked it would have drove me nuts to see the weakest links catch up because the challenge couldn't be started till right before the weakest link got there (after we may have been been waiting for two hours). That very thing has happened every previous season, multiple times even.

But it's also probably only a matter of time before somebody gets a local expert to lead them the way.

I also felt it sucked that they could lose ground because the provided transportation let them down. I do agree this way is better.

I've also thought it would be more interesting for them to set up a final destination with only a few required check points and leave the rest up to the teams. It would be interesting to watch teams take totally different routes.

I have some 'sort of' spoilers for Tuesday's episode if anyone is interested. Just a little info about the episode. Nothing about who gets eliminated. Highlight below if you want to know:

Our local paper here in Charleston printed today that Tuesday's episode will take the contestants to Charleston, SC. An anonymous spokesperson said that the contestants were seen along the Battery as well as running through the Charleston Visitor's Bureau. A spokesperson for Independence Air said that 5 of the 8 teams chose their airline to fly into Charleston from Washington Dulles Airport. It is thought that the contestants are on their way to FL (hence the NASA task in the previews) and make a stop in Charleston on their way.

A question on your spoiler...highlight if you want to read it.

Couldn't it also be Hunstville, AL. I think they have a more serious space-camp program over there. I've not seen the space camp at KSC, but looking at the previews...it just didn't look like KSC to me. But I've only been twice in the 8 years of been here.

I forgot to say, I love this new format for the show! We traveled across America for a year in 2003 so the driving aspect brings back great memories. And of course it's also fun to see who's good at traveling and who's just not!

Another thing I love about the new format is the fact there are kids (18 and under) in the show. It adds a whole new dimension. Love it! :Pinkbounc

Answer: Highlight:
Our local paper was just speculating that they were passing through Charleston on their way to Florida for the space task. Nothing was said definitively that it was Florida. It very well could be the one in Alabama. Almost time to see :)

Click on your mouse and drag it over the empty area and it will highlight the text :)

A couple of confirmations...

pit stop is indeed 12 hours--and they do leave in the middle of the night..and they do use taxi's...and the do fly. ;)

spoiler highlight:
***when the kid says "DULLS" airport instead of "DUL-LES". HAHA :rotfl2: ***
