Amazing Race, Family Edition. *Official DiscussionThread*

i guess I would have to root for the weavers( still sympathy for losing the dad, especially since they had to overcome thier emotional reaction to going to the Nascar track)...... I just hope that when they watch the show they realize that they talk the "Christian talk" but did not always walk it themselves!! They had some very mean spirited and "un christian like" comments ....

Although all of the final 4 had problems with how they spoke to thier teammakes and to/about the other teams....
I guess each team having 4 members made it more likely that some one would have a disagreement and personality conflict....

I really don't care who wins. It seems as though everyone has their nasty moments! The thing that really drives me CRAZY is that Megan, the sister in the Linz family NEVER participates in a roadblock. If it involves the entire group she pretty much sits around and laughs or will maybe hand one the boys a tool. The thing that I enjoy so much about this show is watching teams do a physical task that they may have difficulty doing or would not normally do. I think it makes for good tv. She on the other hand is just plain lazy and obviously way out of shape. Please tell me other people have noticed this :confused3 If I were the brothers and end up winning I would offer to give her less based off her "performance". She has contributed nothing

Well i was hoping the Weavers were eliminated, but that didn't happen, so now I hope they come in third. I think that mom has some serious issues that rub off on the kids, therefore making them people you just don't want to like. The Branson family (all) did work hard so to see them win would be nice. Even though Megan did not do much, I think this family overall had the best attitude and the most fun and I think they will win.

You know, I think this is part of their family dynamics... The brothers seem to instinctively take over for their sister... Two brothers are older than she is, and I just bet that is the way it has always been... I bet they don't even see it. I only say this, because I see how my son treats his younger sister & he generally takes care of her (and they are still young).... I've noticed on a few occasions when she would start something, but they would takeover, so she just backed off... I guess there is a benefit to having older brothers :)

I can definately see what you are saying about having older brothers. She just never seems interested in trying anything new or even offering to try a task :confused3 she very much seems like she is just along for the ride and the money and not really interested in the "participation" part of the race. Maybe that is how she was invited to participate - the brothers basically said come along as the 4th person and we will do all the work :goodvibes In which case I guess I cannot fault her ;)

And correct me if I am wrong--the Paolo's saw the way they were and were shocked.

The Godlewski's are more "that's the way we are, oh well".

How sad that they obviously don't get along in real life, and thought going on the show would bring them closer as sisters, and it probably made it worse, but they did acknowledge that the show did nothing to improve their relationships with each other. That is sad, that grown sister can not like each other. I have 4 sisters, and sure we fought like hell growing up, but we grew closer as we grew older. I am sad that the Godlewski's don't have that. I wonder why?

I agree with this, but a few shows back I recall her saying her heart was hurting while she was running and all three boys stopped. One took her backpack and told her to do what she could. Just speculation, but maybe she has a medical condition the viewers do not know about.

The things I have noticed her backing off on, are the more "manly" tasks. The physical braun stuff. If i was the only girl among 4 strapping young men, I would back off while they put together a railrod track, or a horse wagon. Her getting in there would slow them down, and this is a race. If her backing off means the tasks get's finished quicker, then hell yeah, back off! LOL She did the plane ride, didn't she? the loop? She's also done one ot two other things.

Yes, when they were building the railroad track, she asked what she could do and one of the brother's told her to "just chill". She DID help by tightening the bolts. Last night she rolled her wheel, because she wasn't strong enought to carry it like the boys did. The Branson girls rolled their wheels as well. I don't think that Megan is lazy, I think she tries to do her part but the boys will often take over because in the physical challenges they can simply do it faster, and speed is what will win the game. I really like this team, I like their dynamic and how they treat each other. They are clearly having a great time and seem to really enjoy each other. I don't see anything childish about their behaviour, just bright young people having fun. I don't think I've ever seen anything from them you could categorize as being "mean". Frankly, that just confuses me.

Did anyone see the Goodlewski's on the Early Show this morning? I was wondering if they were the least bit sorry how they treated each other on the show.

I'll be rooting for the Linz Family in the end.

ME TOO! You know, I see MY brother's in the Linz family, and that is why I like them so much. If it were me in the race with four of my brother's, we would lose, because they would have me laughing so hard, I would not be able to function.

Did you see the cheese curl fly out of the brother's mouth onto Meg's lap? That would SO be my brother!

Good point about the medical condition - you just never know!

I am not sure the Producer's would of chosen them, if she had a medical condition involving her heart.

I know when I used to run, my chest and heart would KILL. It felt like my heart wanted to explode out of my chest.

I agree with everything.

To each his/her own, I guess. I honestly cannot understand how people can't see the Weavers in the same light I see them. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that people are also seeing the Linzes in a different way than me. All I see from the Linz boys is good-natured ribbing and typical teen/young adult male behavior. I have several college-age cousins who act the exact same way.

That's why I like them too. Being that I have 3 college aged brothers and a 17 yo sister, they are VERY close to home. I think they treat each other very well and have definitely been raised right.

I am confused when someone said all the teams have said mean things about the other teams.

I don't see this. :confused3 The only team everyone has a problem with, is the Weaver's, and I guess it is a matter of opinion as to why. What came first, the chicken or they egg? I see a group of people in a race, who are very supportive of the other teams. I really have not seen this in all of the AR installments. Last night, when the Godlewski's got to the ranch, the Bransen's HUGGED them to welcome them. Yes, they were frustrated it was a catch up point, but I think they were happy they got a chance to catch up, after they realized their was not much they could do about it.

The Weaver's were mad? Excuse me, but wasn't it just LAST WEEK... that a catch up point EXACTLY like this (posted hours) kept their butts in the race?

Last night when they were doing the golf ball task, she raised her hand and offered to do the task, but for whatever reason we do not know due to the editing she didn't end up doing it.

I AGREE! SHe hardly does anything---I thought they were required to do a certain # of tasks during the race.....but she has kept up w/ them surprisingly - I could NEVER do that - as fast are guys are....so I'll give her that credit, & she hasn't complained much (unlike Palo mom)...just wish she was made to do some more...

I agree...when the got to that leg of the race they went directly into their trailer and had a pity party...they didn't even attempt to socialize with the rest of the team. IMO they are their own worst enemies.

Does anyone think that this weeks catch-up spot was to allow for an equal playing field following the two production errors that happened tot he sisters and the Linz family. Part of me felt that under normal circumstances that the leavetimes would have been more staggered like the 15 minute times from the previous episode.
