As far as the car's breaking down, I am pretty sure in previous season's we have had Phil's voice-over explaining that if a car's breaks down, or anything happens due to malfunction, the teams can wait for a replacement vehicle, but will recieve no time credit...

Yeh, but in this case, both car's batteries were completely drained by the production crew... assumably, the film crew must be using the battery for something, in order to have this keep happening.... I agree, if it's the team's fault, or just a natural breakdown... no time is credited, but this is the actual fault of AR filming... totally not fair!

Now, if it was a case of both the Godlewki's car and the Linzes car breaking down, then the time loss is for getting the car fixed. Why they were not given a replacement vehicle, is a mystery, but if the production crew did not cause the cars to breakdown in the 1st place, I can see why they would not be given back that time. Nor fair, sure, but rules of the game.

In tha past, there have been teams that have recieved time credits for actual Production hold-ups. Maybe the camera malfunctioned, or something on the production team broke, keeping that team from moving on, that is where the time credits come in.

Remember the little clown cars that kept breaking down? The teams had to
wait to get a new one, and did not recieve any time.....

I can understand that. But these car malfuctions were caused by an explicit production error. The cameraman is at fault. All the other breakdowns were left to chance as it should be. But these camera people need to find other means to charge up if they cannot figure out how to do it without draining the battery.

They didn't say that the battery died--they said that a production error with camera equipment caused the battery to die.

IIRC--camera equipment didn't cause the clown cars to break down.

Any word about when this "family edition" will be over? Or when a new season of (hopefully) original AR will be on? I am really missing the original AR and have not kept up with current season at all.

It is amazing to me! I figured based on how many legs, and non-elemination rounds, the finale would of been LAST NIGHT. So, when the showed "to be continued" I thought for sure they would come back to hype next week being the big finale, but next week looks like a normal one -hour episode. No mention of it being the finale, and WHO will win the million dollars. :confused3 It HAS to be Dec. 13th.

AAHH! I see. They must be using a generator off the car battery for their equipment. Then, yes, yes, yes, totally should of been given the time back in BOTH cases! What is up with that? Hmmmm...

Someone needs to tell the Weaver's it is not God answering their prayers, they may be getting a little help from the producer's of AR to get ahead in this race. :(

How do we know one of the Weaver girl's has her boyfriend's name tattooed somewhere??

It wasn't tattooed. I was written with black marker ala "Sassy" or "Booty" on the seat of her sweatpants.

Oh, that's classy.

If the Weavers win, I'm waiting for the inevitable "tramp stamp" tattoo to show up on the smalls of the Weavers' backs-"We Won The Amazing Race And You Didn't" is what I'm betting it will say. :rotfl:

I've just realized that I'm enjoying this thread about the AR much more than the actual show-I think I'm just going to delete it from the tivo this week rather than sit through it, because the synopses that everyone has written have been great!

ROFLMBO.... :rotfl: You're sure right about that!

Did I miss something last night that I never saw the Weaver's asking for money? Weren't they stripped of everything at the end of the last leg?
I was flipping between Biggest Loser and AR and maybe I missed that.

They asked people at the campground. They got some money and a map of the area.

Maybe the camera crew doesn't realize that the car battery is also keeping the refrigerator cool in the camper while they are driving. If they are charging the batteries to the camera's while the car is idling, the battery is also working overtime to keep the trailer cool and the refrigerator cold. Remember this is summer and we had a very hot summer.

When we traveled we got our portable generator going right away so we didn't drain the truck battery while we sat idle. When you go to campsites if there is an electrical outlet you can plug your camper or rv into the outlets, but some of the places they have been and slept I don't think had electrical outlets. I wonder if the camera crew stayed in the trailers with the contestants or if they had somewhere else to go.

I really think the Godelewskis are the ones to go whenever this leg finishes.....Did anyone notice that in one of the interviews that they intersperse in the show (the ones filmed at the pit stops) that the one sister (Christine, I believe) was talking in past tense. I think she said something like "I would not have changed the way I played the race"....I said right away gee, I wonder if they go tonight.

I think there is more to the production delays than they share on the show. If not, the teams would be much more angry/upset about it. Either it was clearly laid out to them in the rules ahead of time, or something else. Neither of the teams blamed it for them being in the back of the pack. I think the only reason it is even mentioned is to explain how that team got behind. I bet it happens all the time to the teams, and they only mention it when it causes the teams to change positions.

At the campsite at Bear Lake they asked at least one family (outside the game) for money and got some.

My thoughts on last night: I actually liked that they spent a fair amount of time in Utah seeing as I have only lived here for 1.5 years and it was nice to see what was in the area. The train place they went actually does a Polar Express ride through the mountains (sadly it is already sold out for the rest of the year). The Weavers just keep topping themselves, at least we didn't have to hear much of the whole world is against us whining tonight. The sisters are actually starting to get on my nerves more than the Weavers. They are sooooo mean to Chris. I wonder if they always act that way towards her. I still want either the Bransen or the Linz family to win. Papa Bransen really came through for his girls building the railroad tracks. Did anyone think of elder brother Pauolo last night when they did the balloons? Heights might have gotten to him there too. As for the production errors, these seem ridiculous. How many seasons of AR are we in and they haven't gotten this solved. You would think they would be experianced enough at this to not have these problems. Oh well.

who went home?

Nobody, the leg did not end. they were told to go to "x" and "find Phil" no mention of it being the pit stop. They Bransen's and Weaver's got there at the same time, and were told the leg is not over, and Phil gave them the next clue, and it said "to be continued"

I really don't want the Weavers to be in the final three but unless something happens, that's where they will be. At least the leg isn't over and the others have a chance to pull ahead of them.

Random thoughts on last night's episode...

I suspect heads are going to roll on the production team due to the battery issues. It's very unfair to the teams, and has happened TWICE now--in the USA!! I can only imagine the logistical nightmare of putting this show together when it's around the world--getting accomodations for the crew in Sri Lanka and finding power sources in Nepal, etc., etc. But they've done it, and they have an award-winning program to show for their efforts. But then they get messed up with car batteries? Sorry, someone has to be fired for that.

I had to crack up when the Weavers made the "bottle blonde" comment--like they don't dye their hair, at least Mom and the brunette daughter with the fake streaks.

Go, Dad Bransen!

I thought the Godliewskis were very mean to Chris. Not sure if it was all or just the one with the short hair. Chris does seem a bit of a drama queen, but that's no excuse to be so mean.

I don't know that the Weaver mom was right about the "right of way" thing. Certainly, she thought she was, but in that situation, I generally look to see who has a place to skootch over--if it's me, I'm happy to, no biggie if I'm coming or going. And in any event, it's a race. Besides, if she wants to work on etiquette, she has a job cut out for her on her own kids--never mind the Linz's! Even my own kids can't believe how rude that family is!

I think they are always picking on her, especially the short-haired one who sits on the far right. If I were Chris, I'd wipe that smirk right off her face. :teeth:
