Oh come on, you really think the team yelled that to them to prepare them? They probably just wanted to psych them out. If someone tells me something is hard, the last thing I want to do is start freaking out thinking, "Oh no it's going to be hard, we're going to be last, etc."

ACtually--I don't think anything sinister was meant by the comment.

The task was a PITA--and customarily on most every season--even for a hated team...I've never seen anyone be mean in that regard. They've usually--after they are exhausted from the task...have been upfront with teams when they comment.

I would expect the team to be laughing about it if they were intending to be mean. I don't think they were all in cahoots.

If it were me and I wanted to be mean...I would put up a front and say how easy the task was....I've seen that done in the past. The recipient of the comment would usually " ".

Sorry, I'm not buying it. Especially after all the teams were so excited the Weavers were yielded. Why would they want to give them a warning either way?

I consider a hard task climbing up the side of a mountain, like the Bowlings Moms had to do a few seasons ago. Searching through a pile of beans? Frustarating, but not hard. Anyone can search through a pile of beans. And this didn't look nearly as difficult as previous seasons where teams were literally out there for hours and hours searching.

That's okay.

My opinions aren't for sale.

They were peeved--and they acted it. They were melodramatic even.

I threw a temper tantrum as well as a teenager. I was promptly scolded and corrected for it.

I didn't ever say the teams were sincere in what they were telling the Weavers. I just don't think that they were doing it to be mean or sinister.

Kind of like how when you walk by people and say "Hey, how are you?"....when you really don't care to know. It is said in passing. I think that is all it was.

Just b/c the teams didn't use the correct adverb/adjective to describe the task--please. They are under stress...and a grammar book probably wasn't on their packing list to consult.

And yes--I thought the task was "hard" and "difficult". It certainly wasn't "easy".

if the Weavers hadn't been snarky and told the boat capt to slow down, the Linz family probably wouldn't have tried to psych the Weaver boy out.
I don't like the Weavers. They grate on my nerves. Why? Because they talk the talk but aren't walking the walk. Oh and the fact that they seem to think shorts need to be so tight and short to emphasize the frontal region. I can't use the term on a PG board ;)
Petty? Yeah probably. Do I care? No! It's a tv show and I'm entitled to like or dislike who I choose for any reason I care to.

and seriously if every team is racing to the flag in order to Yield you, there's a problem.

You've got to be kidding. This is TELEVISION!!!!! We are allowed to not like someone just because we don't like them. We don't have to have a "good reason". Although, I believe that I do. Why are you taking this so personally? :confused3

Maybe she is a Weaver :teeth:

Okay, you are not paying attention. I'll try again. I don't have a problem that you all don't like the Weavers. I don't like them either. I don't like the accusations that have been made about them with nothing to back them up. That is all.

And your kidding about no one else acting like or worse than the Weavers, right? Maybe we are watching two different shows for the past few seasons. :confused3

So why don't YOU like them? What are you specific exact reasons for not liking them?

I was really sad to the the Gaghans go home, they were our favorites! I really liked how the parents always made a point to offer encouragement to each other as well as the children and how well they got along together. That little girl was so sad, I'll bet it was difficult for Phil to tell them they were eliminated. :sad1:

I really tried to like the Weaver family, but they just rub me the wrong way. I'm sure there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't see with the editing, but there must be a reason why all the other teams don't like them.
i personally don't like the praying for every move they make and last night praying for another team to mess up ("if that is your will") I also think they were extremely bad sports at the yield.

I liked when the one sister from the all sisters team pulled over and told the bossy nasty one to drive because she was complaing so much and then said she didn't know where to go!

I still don't like the Paolo family, just too much disrespect there among them.

I guess I'm rooting for the Linz boys or Wally and his daughters to win. They both seem like they are having a lot of fun.

I also am trying very hard to like the Weavers... I agree with what a previous poster said about them, there must be something going on behind the scenes for the teams to be that ticked at them. Otherwise , I am like "Ok so the'yre loopy, but WHY is everyone mad at them?? So they didn't answer the guy in the first eppisode about the question in the airport, big deal. " ;)

I am very happy though that in this season the producers are bringing back a prize at the end OF EVERY EPPISODE. :) Remember last season? For some reason they changed it to like 1/5 pit stops had a prize . :confused3

Well, everyone here can hate me. I knew that when I came here everyone would hate the Weavers. Unless there is something going on off camera, no one has any good reason to not like them. Everyone on the entire race hates them and for no reason. If someone else withheld info. it would just be part of the game, if someone else yelled,"Slow down" it would be considered part of the game, suddenly this family does it and everyone thinks they are horrible. I think that its a poor mom who is now a single parent to 3 teenagers who are very emotional and they are doing a fine job and I hope they win. I don't like the other teams, I am SO glad the little kid team got kicked off, now THOSE kids had some bad attitudes. I think that the Weavers are hated because of their faith. Just like all christians who don't hid their faith get persecuted in one way or another. Just my 2 cents. :goodvibes

Edited: I forgot to mention that I was disapointed in their behavior when they were yeilded, but no one is perfect and they stopped.

yes, that's it. they are hated because of their Faith. Sooo many Christians are persecuted. The Weavers are obnoxious, rude, stuck-up, and condescending and that's just to start.

You think the small children had bad attitides? Really? Wow, I thought they just went with the flow and had very positive attitudes. :confused3

The Weavers have the worst attitude out of everyone on the show and the insulting remarks about the other team members were uncalled for. They get yielded and they start in with their insults. Calling someone a "retard" or making fun of someone's job or telling someone they look like a squirrel is okay behavior to you? Christian or not, bottom line is it's uncalled for.

Are we watching the same show?

We can't not like them b/c we don't see everything....but yet they should be liked b/c of what we see on tv? Where is your justification that noone on the race has a no reason to not like them? Are you privy to footage we cannot see?

They aren't being persecuted for their faith. They are being persecuted b/c the family has at least two women who behave a certain way that is not able to be posted on the DIS.

wow--now I know how all the anti-Romber DISers felt last season!

The Weavers aren't strategizing--they are just plain mean.

Only because time was up.

:rotfl2:

(sorry--I couldn't resist)

And why is it that those who think we are persecuting the christians--dissatisfied with their behavior and then condemning us b/c we choose to not like the team for it?

I just don't understand that. We are being persecuted...for....not being a.....Weaver-Lover  .

Mommypoppins,

I don't think anyone hates you or really hates the Weavers. I just don't like them or the way they act. It isn't about religious persecution  , I just don't like their whole attitude. I guess I think they are poor sports, standoffish and kind of snotty. Just the feeling I get. About the praying thing, I do think they are taking it a little far, but I would think that no matter what their faith was.

I said that their behavior when they were yielded was wrong, there is no excuse, but no one is perfect but the mom ended it and they stopped. They little kids didn't whine or complain, they just had this attitude about them, like they were so much better then everyone else. They just picked up on everyone elses dislike for the Weavers and I hated seeing those little ones talking bad about the Weavers like the adults. If ever a team had bad attitude it's those dang sisters, geez. I don't even think they like eachother them and the family from NY. I hate the way they treat their Mother.

And someone said in a earlier post that the Weavers acted like they were better then everyone else because they were Christians, I have never seen this before from them. :confused3

And yes Christians are persecuted all the time. Everytime a Christian says they don't agree with something that is considered "appropriate" in the world today they are immediately bashed for their beliefs.

Well--you have proved your point.

As a Christian woman--I have found many things the Weaver family has done to be completely inappropriate. I may stress out--I may do crazy things at times...I do NOT figure out which women have fake ones and make fun of a family for their livlihood. Just taboo topics that I don't think any Christian should be taking up.

You have now persecuted me and many others on this thread for what they feel is inappropriate. Some are Christian and some are not--but we have one thing in common...we don't like the family. And for that we have been judged inappropriately as really and truly--not one poster has said they didn't like the family b/c of their faith. Nor were they really made fun of. Thinking something is odd or out of place is not the same as making fun of their belief system.

And for you to judge.

Wow! Just....wow!

I commented on their praying, and i'm Catholic! And yes, that means I'm Christian!! :teeth:

And I've never felt persecuted, and I hang out with anarchist/punks/atheists/agnostics goofballs!!

I am not persecuting anyone, I never called anyone a bad name or tried to make anyone feel bad, I was only calling it the way I see it. I see more bad attitudes and sportsmanship from other people than from them. That's just me, I kinda like them I feel bad for them for loosing their dad and I think that it's good for them to be so open about their faith and praying everyday. There is nothing wrong with praying and asking for help in the race. I don't care if everyone here likes them, it doesn't matter to me, it is just TV for goodness sake. But because I said something different from everyone else here people are immediately going to jump down my thoart and throw accusations at me, for what reason? :confused3
I never condemned or persecuted anyone here because you don't like them, I just said what I felt because for goodness sake this IS a discussion board. :earseek: I am sorry to ruffle everyones feathers.
