Amazed at Misinformation!

After spending a few years doing WDW research on my own, I've come to learn that "hearing something from a relative/CM/whoever else" usually doesn't mean anything concrete. There are a few trusted DISers as PPs have mentioned who usually have good info, though, so that's nice to know. :thumbsup2

Usually, however, I take everything as a "rumor" unless it's an official announcement or I can find the same info listed somewhere on an official website. Whether or not that "rumor" is baseless (as with the "I heard it from whoever") or has strong probability (like the ones we hear from our trusted DISers) is the real thing to keep in mind. Just my two cents.

I think we just need to use our discretion with some things. If it sounds made up or too good to be true, it probably is.

I had a good friend who says that her son got a powerful electric shock by touching the roof of the launch tunnel on space mountain.

Also, Spaceship Earth is a water ride!

This made me laugh out loud. Trying to picture how that would work. Like a fishbowl maybe? You dive in, float around for awhile and they go get a hook and pull you out? A release valve on the back to drain out all of the people maybe?:rotfl:

That's one way to make sure riders keep their arms in the ride vehicle at all times. ;)

Back on April 7th, Tom Staggs stated the 4th FP program would come online "later this Spring".

Not sure if you're being serious or not, but my sister's BF said something similar! He's the kind of person who exaggerates everything though, so I don't know if it really happened... :rotfl:

People forget stuff, don't remember it correctly, and sometimes for whatever reason even report false information on purpose.

I think the real problem lies with the amount of misinformation given out by WDW employees (typically phone agents). Never mind that a CM on the room reservation line doesn't know how long the wait for Anna and Elsa is, I think they're instructed to look it up and try to answer it. Unfortunately there's no incredibly accurate place for them to look stuff up either, apparently.

I do have to say that thanks to Cheshire Figment...

Sadly, Cheshire Figment has been totally absent of new posts since early January of this year.
(And his ticket sticky post on this board has not been updated in months.)

Many of us are worried about his whereabouts and well-being.

Please, Mike, come back!!
We miss you!!

Oh I'm serious. I am betting it was a static shock.

If multiple people are experiencing it that probably means that there's a strong potential for a static shock at the ride entrance, just like when you touch your car frame after pumping gas.

you now can get really wet when riding the pirates of Caribbean ride....oh wait...that one is true.

Especially if you decide to walk behind the boat.

I remember standing in line for Space Mountain (This had to be the late 90's) and my aunt insisted that it went upside down (she lived in Orlando and frequented WDW). I kept telling her I knew for a fact it didn't. She kept insisting...and it got to the point where several guests in line chimed in...ALL of them stated that Space Mountain does indeed go upside down. I remember nearly pulling my hair out with frustration.

Yesterday while on a boat to DTD, we overheard the family next to us saying that they were going to go to DTD, then take the monorail to "wherever."

Wonder how that worked out for them....

The TRIP to "wherever" wouldn't be so bad…
it's that "waiting for the monorail to arrive at DTD" that can get a bit tedious. :upsidedow

In the vastness of space you can really lose your sense of direction. I mean, can you really be upside down or right side up? ;)

A CM at DHS had told me back in February that Anna and Elsa's last day at Epcot would be March 31st since merch wanted the shop back.

So technically she wasn't too far off.
