Amazed at Misinformation!

I'm far from an expert (I've never been to WDW) but a little while ago, I tried to book a family trip to Orlando by a Travel Agency here in my country and the person doing the itinerary told me two things:
1. Values don't have air conditioning
2. There's no way to go from Disney to Universal, you need a car. Even taxis don't exist there.
Of course I gave booking there.

LOL!

Um, as I've stated on a few threads, the bold one is true. Not because I heard a friend of my neighbor's cousin tell their dog, but because I've actually been there and had a higher up (as in they wear their own clothes, not a company provided uniform) tell us. It just can't be booked until after your first 3 are done, can only be booked on a park kiosk (not the MDX app), and can only be used at the park where your first 3 of the day are.

Um, that does not make it true either, sorry. I recall only one poster making the claim this was live, and that was from a third-party. Until I see multiple first-hand reports this is the case, I'm keeping it firmly in the "not yet" category.

It's nice that you have put faith in that CM's statement, but I've been around long enough to realize that a single CM's word is not something I completely trust. In my experience, we would have seen a number of actual accounts backing this up these last ten days or so since the CM mentioned this to you. I have not seen that.

I amazed that there's not far more misinformation. Take one of the simple subjects above and call the phone CMs five times and see how many different responses you get.

No kidding!
Not even the CMs knows which end is which right now. :sad2:

You can make ADRs for quick service meals too.

With BOG lunch FP+, I can understand where the confusion comes from.

Some misinformation I came across today: Elsa and Anna "sometimes will appear" at the Akershus breakfast, and even if they don't, you'll be able to see them in their meeting spot from the restaurant.

And that's how rumors start....

Have you actually done it yourself? Have you actually talked to anyone who has done it? Have you read one single thread in the thousands of DIS threads where anyone has been able to do it? If it was live, don't you think the boards here would be exploding with the news? There's TONS of threads with speculation about this and wondering how it will work, etc. As soon as it's live, SOMEONE is going to come back here and report it. Until then, I'll believe it when I see it.

Just because one person--no matter what he was wearing--told you, doesn't make it a fact.

My guess is if you call 5 times, you'll get 6 different responses!

Unless I get the info from the guy with the max headroom avatar or the one with the blue castle with lights on, I have little faith. (I did not want to use their names for fear of breaking the rules) These two always seem to have the best info and cool maps.

:thumbsup2

It is easy for rumors and mis-information to get out when there are so many unchecked resources out there- blogs, boards, etc.

I've heard some too, these are the ones from last trip in 2012...

Hotel key card is your FP, with guaranteed front of the line access! and she argued with me when I tried to explain FP/kiosks...

Maybe she was mixing WDW up with Universal, where that is true! No ride reservations, no tracking bands to wear, no tiering, works at both parks, no lost FP reservations, no app to have to use, no kiosks, unlimited front of line, no stress. Just show your hotel key card.

Hmmm....which system is better?

You are allowed to say Mesaboy2 and Robo, and ITA!! ::yes::

True there is a lot of misinformation out there, but I do have to say that thanks to Cheshire Figment, Robo & a couple others here on the Dis, I have gotten a lot of good info and saved some $$ too.

most of it start from real information, but that's been spread too long through the bush telegraph.

None of the Value Resorts have refrigerators in them.

used to be true (except for medical or for a fee). Not misleading info, just outdated info.

There are buses that run from DTD to each of the parks.

Used to be true, and was tested again by Disney in October 2013. Once again, outdated information but rooted in truth.

An FP guarantees you'll never wait more than 15 minutes.

Inaccurate, but a guest might try and go for compensation (I said "try")

The fourth FP program has already started and you can get more than 3 now.

Inaccurate but rooted in truth. During the early testing phase many guests received a 4th bonus FP+ at MK apparently at random.
The information simply jumped the gun.

Resort guests can use any of the pools.

False, but not at every resort.
Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter can pool hop between both resorts. So do YC and BC guests.
DVC owners have the privilege to pool hop.
So the statement is false when it refers to "resort guests" in general, but some resort guests, under certain circumstances, can pool hop in a limited fashion. So it's not entirely false either.

You can make ADRs for quick service meals too.

ADR is maybe a bit strong but you can FP+ for BOG lunch. This is basically what an ADR is, and "advance dining reservation", and that's what a BOG FP+ stands for.

It's very difficult to judge what people say. Because they can genuinely be convinced that, what they experienced is the "policy".
For example, a guest staying at POR might have asked if they could go to POFQ pool, and be told that they can, as well as all of the other 6 pools at PO, and genuinely be convinced that they could use any pool on property

very often, when people give misleading info, they're truly convinced that they have the accurate answer when they don't.

As I said, I did not get to use it because by the time we had used our FPs for the day, everything was gone. Considering this guy is one of the youth group coordinators, and his job depends on giving correct information out, yes, I believe him. If you don't want to believe a first hand report, knock yourself out. I'm simply saying that yes, the 4th FP is available; unfortunately it's not completely viable yet, unless you use your FP early in the morning. The way our touring plan worked out, we didn't. But you know what? When I go back down in 2 weeks, I'll do it, and take pictures, just so you have "proof".

There are others too. But, these 2 just seem to be on top of their game...

That would be great! :thumbsup2 A first-hand report would be a wonderful thing! What you have now is somebody's word--not an actual first-hand report. We could always just ask on here since there's plenty of people in the park every single day and I'm sure if it's active at least one of them somewhere has used it. Maybe they could back you up and prove me wrong! I'd love to know it's working before our next trip and hear the details of everyone's experience with it.

I'm not amazed at misinformation. We are a group of people who basically are obsessed with Disney. If people ate slept, and breathed other destinations around the world they would probably notice tons of misinformation about those places too.

Things change in Disney frequently, and the majority of Disney goers don't frequent boards like this to know every detail about those changes. It's not normal, general public stuff to know the history of fridges at a specific resort ;).

I guess my point was more about how many people state things as absolute fact that are absolutely wrong. I know not everyone knows every detail---I certainly don't! But I wouldn't go into a group and post things as fact that I wasn't sure of. Does that make sense? These are things people are 100% convinced are true---and they're not. I just feel bad for people who plan their vacations and take these things at face value, only to be very confused or disappointed when they get there and everything's different!

I get what you're saying, it's just to be expected for every destination and subject out there. There are experts for all sorts of different things who probably get a good laugh at what people are positive they know for a fact.

Getting misinformation from an unofficial source online should be expected from time to time. I feel worse for people who get incorrect information from Disney themselves, either on the phone, their website, or from CMs in person, and plan around that. That's an ongoing issue that should not be happening. Does the moms panel still exist? They were notorious for giving out bad information and it's taken as fact because it comes from Disney (even though I believe they had a disclaimer).

You are allowed to say Mesaboy2 and Robo, and ITA!! ::yes::

I tend to trust them more than others on here. :thumbsup2 There are a few others too.

Otherwise I just ask my dog for advice and insider information. ;):duck:

Hey, it's the internet, what do you expect?

My SIL's neighbor told her to make sure she adds the hopper pass to her reservation to save money because if you get the hopper pass you don't need to buy park tickets. :confused3

I haven't quite figured out what he meant by that lol.
