Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

Hi Amanda!
Congratulations on your weight loss! :jumping1: Woohoo! That and size 12 pants.... I bet you're looking good now!

Your dinner last night does sound fabulous! ::yes:: I wish I could have eaten something that yummy, but with being sick, saltines were my dinner last night.

Pretty soon you'll be an aunt, huh? Congratulations! Please let us know how your sister in law is doing.

Take care and have a great day!

Tracy:wave2:

WOO HOO Amanda!!! A pound down!!! :jumping1:
Are you still doing your grapefruit in the morning? I know you don't count those carbs, but I didn't see it listed either for today. Do you think that's what helped you bust through?! I have started adding a 1/2 grapefruit to my morning and i am curious if that is what is helping you......
I hope you have a great day! If baby isn't born till tomorrow, he/she can be an April fool's baby!!
Hope your day is :sunny: !

:jumping3: BYE-BYE POUND!! :wave2: :jumping3:

See Amanda. See Amanda melt! You go, girl!!! ::yes::

Size 12 pants that FIT - woo hoo!!! I bet you're lookin' good! You'll get used to that sleek fitting feeling in no time!

I was going to ask the same question as Sharon - what about the grapefruit?? Did that fall by the wayside or was it responsible for helping that pound to take a hike??

Best wishes for an easy delivery for your SIL and a healthy & happy baby & mom!

Hope the rest of your week goes well! :sunny:

Sorry! I answered Sharon in her journal. I am definately going to give the grapefruit a try - I just ran out of it and of money at the same time. My Mom is still swearing by it so I really do want to give it a good 2 weeks and see what happens. I don't know if this pound loss is due to grapefruit, drinking more water (I have been hitting the bathroom like crazy lately), or not exercising the last 3 days. Who knows!

Doing so far so good today. Found out we made dinner plans tonight at the Macaroni Grill and I am going to have to be strong. Yummy bread and pasta is served at this joing. I checked out the menu online already and I know there are about 3 items that I can choose from. Although I might just get a big and healthy salad. Who knows! I want to be strong because then I will have been 77.4% successful for the month and I think that deserves a reward.

~Amanda

Oh I wish that I could say that I was strong last night - but I wasn't. I had pasta :scared1: But here is one good thing - I sent the leftovers to my Dad's so that I wouldn't be tempted by it. So I was Cheat free for 74.1% of the month. Which is a big improvement over January and February and I am happy with that. I did good on exercise the entire month so that is all positive. I am going to reward myself with half of my award planned because at least positive momentum is better then no momentum at all.

So moving on to April here are my Goals
1) 66 oz. of water a day.
2) Food - 80% Cheat Free for the month which would be cheat free 24 out of 30 days. I think I can do this!
3) Exercise - start training for the marathon! Alternate walking with The Firm.
4) Read Thin Taste Good or whatever it is called ;)
5) Lose 5 lbs this month

Objectives to meet goals:
1) Try to get in 44 oz of water in a day at work and then drink the rest when I get home for dinner. I will count Crystal Light as water
2) Consistently under 55 grams of carbs a day AND avoid high sugar foods. No more making Thin Mints work into my daily plans!
3) M,W,F - Walk T,TH,S - The Firm
4) Check out book from Library
5) This should be achieved by working objectives 1-3.

Plan for today:
I'm forgetting about yesterday and moving forward!
B: BIG OMELET with Ham, Green Peppers, mushrooms, and cheese
L: Lemon Pepper Chicken, Cauliflower with Cheese
D: I'm going to try to go grocery shopping after work and get some stuff we are in desperate need for. I may make Tuna Casserole.
E: The Firm - Weight Training.

I should just rewrite my plan for today because I havent' stuck with it. The line for an Omelet this morning at work was outrageously long so I never got one and ended up skipping breakfast. Lunch was a Turkey Subway Wrap (11 carbs). After eating I felt really shakey - so I am eating some peanuts in hopes that it will make the shakey feeling go away (5 carbs)

~Amanda

Hey Amanda,

I hope you are feeling better after your peanuts. You plan for April looks great. I keep meaning to read that book as well. Keep up the good work, and you'll lose those 5 pounds.

Just checking in to say :wave2: and wish you a great weekend!!!

Your plan looks great! Cheat free for 74.1% is GREAT!

Recap for 4/1/04:
Water - 1/31
Food 1/31
B: 0 carbs
L: 11 carbs
S: 5 carbs
D: 3 carbs
S: 8 carbs
Total of 27 carbs
Exercise 0/31

Not a bad day. I had a super stressful day at work so when I got home I just hit the couch and didn't move - so no exercise yesterday. Woke up feeling really refreshed today so I think I made the right choice in skipping the exercise. My SIL has still not had her baby yet.

Plan for the day:
B: 2 eggs, ham, and cheese - 6 carbs
L: Cheeseburger in Lettuice - 2 carbs
D: We are going out to dinner with friends tonight so I'm not sure what we will end up having. I'm sort of craving Chili's so maybe we will head there. They have a low carb menu which is good!
Water - 66 oz
Exercise - none tonight since we are suppose to be going out with friends.

~Amanda

Amanda, oh my!! You didn't leave any room in your exercise goals for days off! Are you sure that's realistic?? I've allowed 6 days off from exercise during the month. If you're taking Sundays off then you'd probably want to allow for Sunday off + 1 or 2 days a week off. I want you to meet your goal!! ::yes::

I'll be watching the grapefruit experiment! The past 2 days my breakfast has been 1 string cheese and an apple with 2 TBSP peanut butter slathered on it. I've really been missing fruit and the apple really tastes wonderful! ::yes::

Best wishes for a good healthy dinner tonight!! :sunny:

I've been doing some reflection this morning about the month of March and the truth is - I didn't take very good care of myself. I didn't acknowledge my accomplishments, I was down on myself, I was depressed, and plain just unhappy. Well not anymore! I am not going to be so hard on myself this month! And I am going to try to make things I enjoy eating more!

Yesterday I did not stay in plan food wise - and to be honest kinda regretted it later. My body does not like sugar. I had lots of sweets yesterday and it gave me the shakes and I almost felt buzzed like I had been drinking. Very strange. So as you can imagine I am having no problem getting back on track today. I did make my water goal though!

B: Egg and Cheese - 2 carbs
S: small cookie - 10 carbs
L: Chicken Fajitias ala Amanda! :teeth:
D: Bratwurst and veggies for me - dh will have mac and cheese.

I went to the grocery store and picked up more grapefruit, tuna, and all kinds of staples for my diet. And I picked 2 new recipies out of Dana's book to make in the coming weeks. I've started the laundry for the day and openned up the entire house so that the nice spring breeze can freshen it. I've got some bills to write and then I am going to clean out the kitchen.

I've got a busy day ahead!

~Amanda

Recap from yesterday
Water 3/3
Exercise - starting next week - really geting serious too ::yes::
Carb Count:
b: 2
S: 10
L: 3 carbs
S: 3 carbs
D: 2 Bratwurst - 6 carbs and Broccoli with Cheese - 6 carbs
S: 4 carbs

Total of 34 carbs for the day. Not bad! I weighed myself this morning and I am at 154 lbs - could be retaining water from the Bratwurst since they were Beer n Brats. Yummy!

Today I've got a birthday party to go to and a BBQ in the evening. I will be avoiding cake and ice cream at the party. I'm going to eat something before I go. Today's plan

B: 3 egg omelet with ham and cheese - 7 carbs
L: 1/2 avacado with Salsa for some quick guacamole. I'll probably dip celery sticks in it. Not sure what my protein item will be yet. I might just hardboil some eggs and have that.
D: At the BBQ - not sure what will be served but will do my best to stick with protein filled foods. And small portions of carb filled foods.

Yesterday I went and did a little shopping for myself. I picked up some great red nail polish and painted my nails. I got a pair of capri pants that I am going to wear tonight. I've never owned a pair before so I'm not real sure how I look in them. I'm only 5'3". And I went and did a Mystic Tan. I've been wanting to try it for awhile since I'm in all these weddings this year and it worked great so now I know I can get tan for their weddings. My skin doesn't get any color at all. I burn and peal! :)

~Amanda

First of all - I am so jealous of the open all the windows and let the spring air in..... We have seen nothing but rain since last Monday!:( The high today was probably about 43 and it rained all day again.
I like that you went shopping for yourself and it wasn't just about the clothes. Maybe that will be my reward if I meet my April goals - tanning.:p I go regularly to get my nails done. It is one of the few things that I do for myself. It is quite indulgent, but only costs $20 every 2nd or 3rd week. I figure I'm worth it!;) Maybe something like a manicure/pedicure could be your April reward? ::yes:: A girls gotta have some extra incentive, right?:smooth:
Hope you had a good time at the bday party and the BBQ! Sounds like you were well prepared for them!:teeth:

Yesterday was a great day! The birthday party was fun and I avoided the birthday cake and ice cream. I didn't count on them having the cheesecake ball - but I only had a little of it. The BBQ with my friends was a lot of fun. They had the most tender ribs I have ever had and they just melted in your mouth. I loved it! They served grilled veggies of peppers, spaghetti squash, and zucchini (yeah - all stuff I can eat), beans (avoided) and Macaroni and Cheese ( had half a cup). The BBQ sauce was a little sugary but otherwise I think I did a good job. Oh! Desserts was fresh Strawberries. When we got home I did have a low carb ice cream bar as a treat. It was a great food day and I really enjoyed spending time with my family and friends.

Todays plan! Gotta stick under 55 carbs today, and I need to exercise!

B: Protein Bar - 4 carbs
L: Lemon Pepper chicken breast and Guacamole
S: Guacamole
D: Mexican night! DH will have tacos and refried beans. I am going to have steak fajitas without the tortilla. (hence why I'm making a big thing of fresh guacamole - only problem is it goes bad fast so you have to eat a lot of it quickly.)

Exercise - Strength training tape.

I haven't quite figured out the carb count for everything but I'm sure it is going to be low. I'm looking forward to my day!

~Amanda

Mystic Tan - is that where they spray you tan?? Sounds easy and very time-friendly. I can go to the tanning salon but I'm so fair that it takes forever to work up a decent tan! Maybe I'll have to try this!

You did so well at the birthday party and BBQ!! That BBQ food sounds so yummy!

You sound like you're back on track and ready to take on the world! :sunny: I hope today turns out to be wonderful!! ::yes::

Amanda - you sound so positive and upbeat - good for you!!:cool1:
You did really well yesterday! Avoiding the cake and ice cream is a real accomplishment! Give yourself some props for that!
Okay, today is a new day and a Monday. Your gonna stay OP and have low carbs. And you WILL exercise tonight - I just know it! ::yes:: You've got a plan and your ready for a wonderful week! Lets make it hapen okay Amanda?!:smooth:

 Hi, Amanda. Let me just say, you're sounding quite all together these days! Your goals, your food plans, your handling of tempting situations. Wow! You're leaving me in the dust!

Capri pants? Ahh, that sounds so nice--we've got 30 mph winds with a chill in the 20s. We're bundled up like it's January.
Wear those capri pants and think Spring for Sharon, Doreen, and me!

Take care, kiddo--
Erin

hey amanda, great job avoiding all those tempting foods at the party and bbq! that's really nice that they did have lots of good food that you could eat ::yes::

i'm interested in the tanning thing too...my friend told me she wants to go tanning, but i'm not a fan of the tanning beds. i'm a burn and peel gal too. if that mystic tan is the spray on, i'd be interested to find out more...how you like it and stuff like that :)

you really are sounding like you're right on track, and very positive about it too! it's infectious, i love it! :bounce:

hope your day goes just as planned today :sunny:

Hmm... I've never been tan in my life. ORANGE once from a really bad cream, but never tan. Let me know how it works.

It looks like you managed to have a great time and stay OP. Congratulations. You are an inspiration.

Enjoy your :sunny: .

Mystic Tan 101

Welcome class!

First I would suggest only going to a business that offers Mystic Tan please check this website for a store near you http://www.mystictan.com/

With Mystic Tan it is a spray. You will protect your hair with a shower cap - although the spray doesn't do anything to the hair but get it wet. You will walk into the booth (naked:scared1: ) and the machine will spray the front of you for about 15 seconds then you'll turn around and it will spray the back of you for 15 seconds. Yes it does spray your face so you will want to close you eyes. You will dry off, put clothes back on and then leave. I used the instant bronzer so I had a tan when I left - about 4 hours later I washed the bronzer off and underneath was a beautiful tan that will last 5 to 7 days.

There is more involved including hand placement and special lotions but you will get all that information once you get to the store. The cost was $25.00 for Two Mystic treatments.

My skin is not orange! It is a really light and natural looking tan - I did not look like the chick that worked in the store who was so dark it looked gross.

*************************************************
Update on me today! The Guacamole is really hitting the spot! YUMMY! My lunch otherwise wouldn't have been very good. I am trying to pump myself up for my workout this afternoon but am finding it hard for motivation. I'll just try to focus on the positive - working with weights makes you look better naked...working with weights makes you look better naked....working with weights makes you look better naked!

Friends invited us out for dinner tonight but we declined. We are just wanting to go home and relax tonight - plus I was looking forward to our dinner. I love Mexican night!

I don't know if I didn't make enough for dinner tonight or what but I've had the munchies all evening. Carb breakdown for today:
B: Protein Bar - 4 carbs
L: Gucamole and Chicken Breast - 5 carbs
S: Peanuts - 5 cabs
D: Steak Fajitas - 7
S: Low Carb Ice Cream Bar - 4 carbs
S: Cookie - 15 carbs

40 carbs - still way under in carbs despite eating the cookie. I am trying to be done eating for the evening. It is to early for my D-zone time, so I am hoping this is the sign of a big whoosh. I always seem to be really hungry before a whoosh comes.

Also I did my exercise tape tonight! Yippie! Tomorrow we will go walking.
