Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

I'm gonna beat a path to the grocery store tonight for grapefruit!!!:moped: Maybe it will be just the fix I need to get myself going here!
Dinner yesterday sounds wonderful. I'm glad you let yourself just accept it and enjoy it. Life is too short to not simply enjoy some things.
Good for you for taking the mental health day. Sometimes we just need them. And I truly believe you go back to work and accomplish more after having that day to relax. ::yes::
Okay, sounds like you've got a great start to your week! Keep it going Amanda!!

Lets Review Shall we?

B - Eggs, Ham, Cheese and Grapefruit - 16 carbs
L: Tuna Casserole - 2 carbs
S: Cheese - 1 carb
D: kiebasa 8 carbs, Greenbeans (I had a whole cup - 4 carbs)
S: 1 Girl Scout Cookie (10 carbs) and Sugar Free Custard (??)

I'm at 40 carbs for the day plus whatever the Custard was. I don't have the nutritional info from the place. A little high for the day but expected since I was home all day, and coming down off a sugar high.

I didn't get my exercise in today but I will tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to it.

I've got a plan for tomorrow!

~Amanda

Hey, I didn't say it, YOU said it--today's an exercise day. Don't forget! :Pinkbounc Just a friendly WISH reminder. . .:p

Have a good one, princess: Amanda--

Erin is cracking the whip! ;)

Okay - I am back at work today - BLAH! What I wouldn't do for another day at home - but when you are in sales time is money and I lost some money yesterday so I have to make it up today.

Plan for the day:

1) Put one foot in front of the other and get through the mountain of paperwork sitting before me.

2) Stick to my food and exercise plan

3) Water, Water, Water!

Menu:
B: Leftover Tuna Casserole - 2 carbs and Grapefruit - 11 carbs

L: Grilled Orange Ruffy w/veggies or lunch meat with salad

D: ?? Not entirely sure - I think I will make it an everyone fends for themselves night. DH can eat pizza and I'll make me something a big more healthy.

S: Snacks today are going to be veggies and peanut butter

Exercise - Maximum Cardio Burn!

~Amanda

Oh No! A change in plans because I had to go to a lunch meeting! Yikes! The lunch provided was sandwiches, potato salad/cole slaw/chips, and a cookie. First I gave my cookie away instantly. Cookies are a downfall for me - so I just passed it to someone else to have. I picked all the cheese and turkey off my croissant and ate it with my fingers, I nibbled on the cole slaw (safest thing and I hardly ate it because I dislike it alot) and ate a pickle. I got through the meeting but I have to admitt that the lunch was slim and I have a feeling I'll be hungy later. Thank goodness there are peanuts in the vending machine!

~Amanda

Hi Amanda,

I loved the Davinci Code. I've just ordered some of his older books. I'm very interested to see how the 1/2 grapefruit works for you. I hope those pounds just start melting away.

Great job at lunch. I know you will be hungry later, but those peanuts are a lot more OP than a cookie. Keep up the great work

:wave:

I did it. I didn't want to do it - I had to force myself to do it but I got through Maximum Cardio Burn. I so wanted to turn off the darn TV and lay down and relax but I pushed through and made myself get through that tape. I think instead of taking a rest day tomorrow I will do one of the other tapes - that way I won't be behind for the rest of the week. The question is which tape - probably Aerobics and weight training - my favorite tape.

Carb intake so far today:
B: 2 carbs for tuna casserole and then 11 carbs for Grape Fruit = 13 carbs
L: Turkey, Cheese and a bit of cole slaw - estimate of 6 carbs
S: Peanuts - 5 carbs
D: ?? I'm not really hungry but I know I need to eat. I think I will just make a salad and enjoy that instead of actually cooking a meal.
S: For tonight if I need it will be Moch Danish.

~Amanda

9:45p.m.
Dinner was a salad with Italian Dressing which had no fat and no carbs. DH ate the last of the ranch dressing (Grrr!) So dinner was 2 carbs total. I did have the Moch Danish and I don't know if I am making it wrong or what but it just doesn't taste as good as people talk about - I think I am going to give up on that one. I am hoping to make Mini cheesecake muffins or cake tomorrow - wish me luck peeps! Total carbs today: 29 carbs - and really look at all I ate! I t hink my fat content was high today but that is okay. I am dreading getting on the scale tomorrow for weigh in. I really need to get a measuring tape.

Amanda, I'm so sorry I haven't been around much lately - I've been missing you! You are doing so well! I'm glad that you and DH took a mental health day!! What a wonderful way to nurture yourself! I hope the mountain of paperwork wasn't too tough to tame today.

The Da Vinci Code - such a great book! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm glad you did too. It's a slice of pure heaven to get lost in a great book! I hear Dan Brown's "Angels & Demons" is also good.

The FIRM - you've shown such dedication to your exercise and I bet it's really paying off!! Good for you for doing it even when you just didn't feel like it!!

The grapefruit at breakfast - I'll be watching this experiment very closely!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE fruit and am really missing it! If half a grapefruit at breakfast works for you then I'll be jumping on the bandwagon too! ::yes::

I hope you have a bright and sunny Wednesday, girlfriend! :happy1:

Warm :hug:

Amanda,

Here's some :wizard: for weigh in tomorrow.

Hi Amanda,

I never seem to make it to your journal so today I am changing that. So......:wave2: from Judy. Hope the rest of your week is :sunny:

:wave2: Judy! :)

Thanks for the :wizard: Beth but the darn scale is still stuck at 153 lbs! This is 3 weeks in a row! It just has to move at some point right? Can I officially call this a plateau?

Well I did some serious thinking this morning on my car ride to work and next Monday I am going to start induction on Atkins. I am going to stick with it for 2 weeks. I'm going to follow it to the letter with one exception - I am still going to eat my grapefruit everyday. Otherwise I'll be at 20 carbs per day, eating lots of salad, meat and cheese. I am trying to sound positive but I have to admitt I am looking at this with dread. I tried induction before and really struggled - but I am determined to be in the 140's by May so *gulp* here goes nothing.:worried:

Today's plan:
B: Tuna Casserole (2 carbs) Grapefruit and splenda (11 carbs)
L: Leftover Kiebasa (6) and Greenbeans(2)
D: It is going to be another night of everyone fends for themselves. My salad was really good last night so I think I might have to do that again. Either that or I'll grill a cheeseburger and wrap it in lettuice.

Exercise: I'm going to do Aerobics and Strength Training tonight when I get home. Technically I should be resting but I'm mad about the scale - so bring on THE FIRM!

Water: Did pretty good yesterday - only had 2 soda's which is an improvement. I already have one glass of water down this morning. Vitamins are taken.

I'm ready for today! I'm going to get through today with a smile on my face. I can face anything that is put in front of me with my Wish Friends behind me.

"How sweet is to be loved by you.
I needed the shelter of someone's arms and there you were
I needed someone to understand my ups and downs
and there you were
With sweet love and devotion
Deeply touching my emotion
I want to stop and thank you baby
I just want to stop and thank you baby
How sweet it is to be loved by you
How sweet it is to be loved by you"

Amanda - stick with it girlfriend!! You will get through this plateau!::yes:: I like your idea of going back on induction. No, it won't be easy, but it should help you break through the wall! I know exactly how you feel, I've been stuck for weeks now. But my weigh in was good this AM, so I'm sending you some :wizard: so next week will be better for you too. Just hang in there no matter what Amanda!:tongue:
And "weigh" to go with your exercise. Keep it up, it is bound to help!:hyper:
I know you can do this Amanda! We are all here to cheer you on!

Recap for 3/24:
B: 11 carbs
L: 8 carbs
S: 2 slices of Ham - 3 carbs
D: Crab Cakes - 2 carbs and Broccoi - 2 carbs
S: 4 Thin Mint Cookies - 17 carbs

Total of 43 carbs - I'm under the 55 carb count so cheat free for me! I got home yesterday and CRASHED. I didn't exercise and just layed down on the bed and took a nap. I was so tired and I knew I wouldn't make it all the way through the workout. Woke up this morning feeling refreshed and ready to start the day! Today's plan:

B: Grapefruit - 11 carbs and hopefully some eggs and bacon if I can get down to the cafeteria.

L: ?? Not sure - I think I'll just have some lunch meat and cheese

D: ?? Again not sure.

E: Aerobics with Weight Training.

Water: Did better yesterday - still needing to improve today.

More family drama around Easter for me!

3:30p.m.
So far so good today! And with great news - I met goal for the month at my work! *YEAH!* So I am celebrating with a coffee sweetened with sugar free vanilla syrup, half n half, and 1 packet of splenda. I love this drink!

Menu so far today:
B: Grapefruit, 2 sausage patties, and eggs - 16 carbs
L: 2 slices of ham, slice of smoked Gouda Cheese and Miracle Whip wrapped in a piece of Romaine Lettuice - 4 carbs (estimate)
S: Coffee - 3 carbs
S: Peanut Butter (4 carbs) and Celery (0 carbs)
D: ??? Still up for grabs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
8:15p.m.
Dinner was 2 chicken kabobs with a little bit of BBQ sauce and a cup of broccoli with butter. Total Carbs - estimating 8 carbs. So we are way under the 55 carbs set out for the day.
Exercise - done! I've started using weights where they tell beginners not to - makes the workouts a lot more intense and I have to admitt - I am now tired. :)
Some Observations -(these are personal so sorry if it bothers anyone)
1) I've cut down on my cheese. I was eating cheese with every meal and as a snack. Today I only had cheese at lunch and I have to admitt that since I cut down the cheese (started on Monday) I've been going to the bathroom a little more regularly then I was before. I'm going to try to limit my cheese to 4 to 6 oz a day - although I will miss it.
2) I'm going to give this 2 more weeks - at that point I'll be 5 weeks without the scale moving at that point I'll try induction if I have to. I'm hoping Lisa is right and that my body will start to burn fat again.
3) I am looking better. A friend of mine told me today that she can tell I've lost weight and that I am looking great. Helps to have the reinforcement.
4) Snickers and Thin Mints really don't help problems go away ;)
~Amanda
Hi Amanada!
It's your FIRM WISH-sis stopping by to see how you are doing.
I share your exasperation at the scale! When I starting work out with the FIRM tapes using the heavy weights, my weight loss slowed to 1/2 pound per week or maybe 1 pound if I was fortunate. It's been about 6 weeks and I'm just now seeing significant drops again. At least I consider 2.5 pounds in a week a significant drop and it's not TOM related. I think it takes a while for our bodies to adjust to building all that beautiful muscle before we start to see the regular drops on teh scale again. At least that is what is happening to me. Just hang in there, I know you'll start to see the progress you want.
I wish you well on your induction. I know it can be hard but you can get through the two weeks with no problem, I have confidence in you!
Btw, I love James Taylor! We can reach our weight loss goals together!!!! Take care! :)
Woohoo! That bear sure looks nice!! Keep up the good work! A rest day is good every once in a while!
Have a great day!
How are you doing today Amanda? Are you going to be rolling that bear?! I hope so!!:smooth:
Make sure you get that exercise in (like I should talk....:rolleyes: ) But you know it really makes a difference - take another look at those leg muscles!:tongue:
Hope your day was :sunny: and good!
Hi Amanda,
Looks like you are on track for another cheat free day. Good for you meeting your work goal! Your treat sounds Yummy. I stock a whole bar of Davinci SF syrups. I love flavored coffee. I figure SF syrup in my coffee is better than a carmel macchiato at Starbcks.
You did the right thing yesterday. Sometimes we need to listen to our bodies adn rest. I know you will be ready to work out tonite. Have a good evening.
:sunny:
Beth
Amanda, I share your sentiments expressed so well by James Taylor!! ::yes:: Good for you for meeting your goal for the month AND taking a mental health day in the process!!
Hang in there - that scale will move! I think Lisa Z. is onto something with her observation that starting the FIRM might cause your body to adjust a bit and slow your loss for a short time. You're doing all the right things - the loss will come. ::yes::
Hope you have wonderful plans for the weekend!! :sunny:
Good Morning! I'm feeling good, lighter, brighter, and more focused. I had a great workout yesterday that really helped improve my mood until my DH came home and told me he got a ticket for not maintaining his lane or something like that. Well there goes $70 down the drain. :upsidedow
Plan for today:
B: Gouda Cheese (2), Grapefruit (11)
L: Cheeseburger with lettuce
S: Not sure
D: Also not sure - I have to hit the grocery store on the way home. I might make DH some hamburger helper and I"ll enjoy a big salad.
Exercise - rest day
Water - did good yesterday! Hoping to do the same today.
Tonight - I m going to go home and clean. My house looks awful at the moment and I need to finish the laundry from last week before I start on the laundry from this week.
The rest of the weekend:
We have a busy busy weekend ahead of us. Saturday I am going bridesmaid dress shopping and I am so excited because I am down another 5lbs then I was the last time :) I have to be there at 10:45 a.m. - so I am going to workout after I get back from dress shopping. I think I'll do strength training tape. Also we have a surprise party on Saturday night. My friend gave me his guacamole recipe so I am going to bring that. At least that way I know there is something there that I can eat. No drinking - sticking with water :)
Sunday - we are suppose to have some friends over for lunch. I am hoping to get another workout in the morning. Perhaps Aerobic with Weight Training one again. It is my favorite workout. :)
:Pinkbounc Wow, you're doing great, Amanda! :Pinkbounc Have fun dress shopping. You're going to look fabulous, dahling.
Amanda, thank you for my "Hero" song. You had me running to get a Kleenex for the tears in my eyes. You are so sweet.
Have a good weekend --you plans sound fun!
Erin
