Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

Augh!:guilty: my neighbors brought over Cookies for dessert. I can't turn away from a cookie - especially freshly baked ones. *Groan!* So no cheat free for me yesterday. Is it March yet because this month was terrible. I'll just be happy to make it through today.

B: Peach Yogurt - 14 carbs
L: Left over salad from Olive Garden - 3 carbs
S: Cheesecake balls - I'm going to be making these this afternoon.
D: Nacho Chicken Casserole (YUMMY) Carb count ?????

I'm going to sit down tonight and work out my battle plan for March.

~Amanda

Hi, Amanda. to you. I've enjoyed reading and catching up on your journal. . .it's such an important place for us to sort things out and to clear our heads.

I'm with you: I'm looking forward to a fresh, new month tomorrow. Still, I think it's valuable to look back and to see how far we've come--look at all the healthy living days you've had so far this year!:Pinkbounc Like Sharon said (hi, Sharon :wave2: ), look at how you went on vacation and came home and promptly LOST the WDW-weight that you had gained! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc You're committed to living in a healthy way and you're doing this for life.

So, bring on that scale! If you keep doing what you're doing, it'll come off. It would be great if it could all come off by tomorrow ::yes:: , but you know that the lessons and the discipline you're creating for yourself will last you a life time! A year from now, if you just keep walking the walk, you'll have the luxury of looking back and saying, "Wow! I did it! And look at how skinny I am now!":p

Hang in there, girl, and have a great week and a great March. It's all day by day, pound by pound, onward and downward through 2004.

Erin

Amanda, I LOVE your idea of setting goals for the month of March! You have inspired me!! I think I'll set a couple goals for the month myself. I'll think about them and post them in my journal later! I'm so excited!! :bounce:

You are starting with a positive attitude and that will help so much. It's a new month, a new start! With warmer weather coming, I bet it will be easier to maintain our sunny attitudes, too!

Do you have Dana's book? If not, let me know - I have a copy I'd be glad to loan you.

By the way, what kind of yogurt do you buy? I'd like to add some into my menus.

Have a wonderful warm and :sunny: day!

Hi Amanda!:wave2:
What wonderful goals you have set for yourself!::yes:: I too need to take a page from your book and set some realistic goals for myself. I will try to do that in my journal.
I think this new month is an excellent time to recharge our committment battery. Spring will soon be upon us. When it was Jan 1, it looked so far away. But here it is Mar 1st! Lets all recommitt to our new WOL!
I hope you have a wonderful Monday. (If there is any such thing:confused: ) Here's some extra :sunny: for you!!

I'm glad I could insprire people to set their own goals for this month. Of course now the pressure is really on to meet those goals:crazy: maybe this wasn't a good idea.....;) Just teasing!

~Amanda

So far so good today! Vitamin is taken! I've had about 4 glasses of water or 32 oz. B: - 16 carbs L:7 carbs - S: 3 carbs leaves me with 29 carbs for dinner tonight. I'm thinking I'll do grilled fish and make a big batch of fauxtatoes while I'm at it. Maybe have some low carb ice cream for a snack or I might stick with peanut butter - not sure yet.

Exercise - will either be right after work or will be at 8:30p.m. tonight. Not sure yet.

I'm hovering at 55 carbs today. I made a huge mistake of working out before dinner which sent me on a minor binge. I am in control now though.

I was only able to do 33 minutes of the Cardio workout in my Firm package. I was sweating like it was 100 degrees in my house and started to feel a little shaky. I'm worried it might have been a mistake to purchase these tapes. If I have to eat before I workout it doesn't leave me much time in the evening to do a 55 minute tape. And I just can't seem to wake up and hour and 15 minutes before I need to before work. We'll have to see. Maybe next time I'll just try some Peanut butter or hard boiled egg before I work out. That way it won't be heavy and I won't have to wait for a whole lot of digestion. Any advice here would be great!

~Amanda

I need to be more careful with counting carbs. I did it at the end of the night last night only to discover I was almost over my carb limit - not a good feeling at all.

I have also decided to make Wednesdays my official weigh in days so I'll update my signature tomorrow.

Todays plan:
B: scrambled eggs and bacon (5 carbs)
L: ??? Going home for lunch where I have lots of low carb choices. If nothing looks good then I'll do Tuna Salad.
S: Sugar Free Jello
D: We are going out to dinner tonight to this small pub. They serve cheeseburgers so I am going to order a burger and remove the bun. Everyone knows I am low carbing so it shouldn't be to much of a shock. I'll also order a small salad to go with it.

Depending on what time we get home from dinner I may do another Firm Tape. The one last night really kicked my butt! I think a lot of that is because I hadn't eaten anything in about 5 hours.

I finished my trip report and it is on the Trip Report board!

~Amanda

amanda, definitely have yourself a small snack before you work out. i used to eat lunch at 1:30, not have a snack, and run at around 5:30. some days, it worked out fine, but usually only if i had a really big lunch. i remember one day in particular where i felt really shaky and had to eat a granola bar that i just happened to have with me (thank goodness!). i've since changed the way i go about things. i have my lunch, but then around 4pm, i have a pria bar. not too big, but just enough so that i don't have any problems making it through my workout. oh, and you can eat your snack closer to the time of workout, i just feel like i need to give myself the extra time because my stomach doesn't react too well to food + exercise. hope that helps :)

good luck with weigh in tomorrow! and have a great day today :sunny:

Amanda, I agree with Marcia - a snack before you work out is a must! We don't want you passing out! If you truly decide the FIRM tapes are not for you, I'll buy them from you, but I think you'll be able to find a way to make them work in your schedule.

Enjoy your dinner out - a small pub sounds like a neat place to eat and I bet they make GREAT burgers!

Good luck with weigh-in tomorrow! Now I'm off to enjoy the final installments of your trip report! ::yes::

Have a fabulous day! :sunny:

Amanda,
Hi! I just had a chance to read through some of your journal and I love your idea of setting specific goals for March! I think I'll sit down later this evening and brainstorm after I put the kids to bed. Thank you for the inspiration!

I am doing the FIRM videos too and I love them! I didn't at first though. It took me awhile to get into the groove. There are still some moves that I don't get... For example in the Cardio Sculpt video (BSS1), there is a pattern on the box that I can't seem to coordinate with my arms. So, I just do the arm motions while standing stationary on the floor. I modify the exercises based on how I feel. Some days I feel great and zoom through the tapes and other days, I just barely get through. I think that if you have a snack before you workout and drink water while you workout, it will help you. Don't forget... you can always pause or rewind or fast forward the tape too!;) At a gym, we don't have that option.:teeth: I agree with Doe... if you can fit it into your schedule, I think you will do fine!

Thanks again Amanda for the inspiration! Have a great day today! :sunny:

Tracy:teeth: :wave2:

So far today - 8 carbs eaten - I'm doing fabulous! Heck I might be able to enjoy a couple french fries at dinner tonight - but I will refrain. I may eat a high carb snack later today just to keep me from doing so with the french fries. If I have one then I won't be able to stop.

Had 2 mini Snickers bars - 23 carbs - 31 carbs so far for today. Dinner tonight will be a double cheeseburger from Hardees (our plans got cancelled) and that is 5 carbs. So even after that I will have lots of carbs left over. I think I might make some cinnamon almonds tonight to snack on this week.

Hi Amanda!

I had to make it over to your journal before I left work for the day. Like other WISHers have mentioned to you already, I love the idea of setting monthly goals! I'd like to adopt some goals for myself for the month.

You are an inspiration. Keep up the great work - you are doing so well!

Well Amanda, you've started a small cult movement here on the WISH journals...:teeth: Look at all of us with our goals set for the month. Are we a fine lookin bunch or what!
Seriously, your idea for setting goals has taken on a life of its own. I can't wait to see how we all measure up at the end of the month. Thank you Amanda for inspiring us to better ourselves, in so many ways. Your idea has touched many of our lives and helped us grow. Thank you for that!!::yes::
Your day looks great! Way to go with the flow with your cancelled plans. Good luck with weigh-in tomorrow. I have weigh-in also, but it is nort looking too promising for me.
Hope you enjoy your evening!

Thanks Lisa and Sharon for stopping by! I am really glad that everyone is enjoying setting their montly objectives and making goals to stick with them. You guys inspire me everyday!

I'll have to change my signature because I am up 2 lbs this morning. I am going to try to let it affect me in only positives ways. For instance I know that yesterday was cheat free because I was way below my carb limit but I did not exactly make good low carb choices. Moving on today and hopefully downward!

B: Almonds (3 carbs) and Sugar free jello (0) - can you tell the kitchen is getting bare?

L: Lemon and Parsley Orange Ruffy (fish - 1 carb) with broccoli and cheese (6 carbs)

S: Celery with Peanut Butter (4 carbs)

D: Lemon Pepper Chicken (2 carbs)- Cauliflower/Greenbeans/Broccoli/Mushrooms (not sure what veggie I want with dinner)

S: Yogurt - 14 carbs

Water - 64 oz
Exercise - Total Scuplt Tape

If I stick to plan today I will have only eaten 34 carbs which is a good number to be at. I plan on eating my snack about 4:30 this afternoon so that when I get home I can start my exercise tape right away.

~Amanda

Sorry to hear about the scale :( . I know you've been working hard and I promise it WILL pay off.

Best of luck with your total sculpt workout this afternoon! Do what you can and fake it through the rest! :teeth:  I've also been told by others here that it's OK to yell at the TV screen. :p "You want me to do WHAT??!!"

Your food for today looks yummy!!! :sunny:

darn that silly scale! leave it on the porch...i'll show it who's boss

glad you're staying positive though. have you taken measurements? maybe you're losing inches even though you're not losing pounds? jsut a suggestion.

you've got a great plan laid out for yourself today. and let us know how the snack before the workout works out. hope it gives you the boost that you need to make it through the vid. and good luck with the vid! i like doe's idea of yelling at the tv though :p

hope you have a great day :sunny:

Amanda - I'm sorry the scale is not cooperating. Congrats for being cheat free, that is always a good feeling. I hope the scale cooperates soon. I also hope you like the total body sculpt. Take care!
