Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

So far so good today! Lunch wasn't very filling because I didn't have as much fish as I thought I did. Here I was thinking I would have 2 fillets and I only had about 1 - maybe a little less. Yikes! I made extra broccoli and cheese to make up for it. Boy am I glad I packed a snack this afternoon because I have a feeling I am going to need it about 4pm. Gotta love peanut butter and celery sticks.

Also have to mention that a breakfast of nuts and sugar free jelloo - really sticks with ya. I wasn't even feeling hungry when I went to lunch today. Imagine that! If I get desperate this afternoon there are peanuts in the vending machine that I can always get.

Carbs consumption is low so far today and that is a good thing!:teeth: ::yes::

Enjoying a cup of warm apple cider to help ease the stress from work today. It is a bad thing to be slow when you are in sales. The cider adds 4 carbs to my count for the day.

Amanda, we'll have to put our scales out on the porch for Marcia. She'll take care of them for us!
I like how you've admitted that the foods, while within your limits, weren't the best choices. I think i am guilty of the same thing. i am trying to be better about that this week.
Have a great evening! Don't forget that exercise!

"We are family! I got all my WISH princess sisters with me!" princess: princess: princess:

I don't know why coming to your journal always makes me want to sing. . .:p

ANYWAY, I hope you have a good day today, Amanda. You've inspired so many of us with your goal setting ideas. . .thanks for that. All you can do is keep plugging away at it, day by day. Don't worry what that stupid scale says. I know that tomorrow I'll be up a couple, too. That's just the ride we're on. . .

You know that your WISH friends are all around you today, cheering you on as you count your carbs and seek to lead a healthy life that is worthy of a princess: like you!

Hugs,
Erin

Thanks Erin and Sharon! Your post made me smile! Now I hae to think of a theme song for today. These are getting harder and harder to come up with :teeth:

Yesterday was a great day! I've decided to log my full menu from yesterday and to also write out my plan for today - keeps me more accountable.

Yesterday:
B: nuts and sugar free jello - 3 carbs
L: Fish (1) and Broccoli with Cheese (6 carbs) =7 carbs
S: Apple Cider - 4 carbs and Peanut butter and celery 4 carbs= 8 carbs
D: Grilled Chicken Breast (1 carbs), mushrooms with cheese (2 carbs) and 1/4 cup of noodles and sauce (9 carbs) = 12 carbs
S: Sugar Free Jello - 0 carbs

Total of 30 carbs!

My snack in the afternoon really helped me with my Firm workouts. I was able to do the entrie Body Scuplting tape last night. It was rough but I was able to do it. There was an entire section of step work that I just marched along to the beat with. I just couldn't figure out the steps!

Plan for today:
B: Yogurt (13) and nuts (3) = 16 carbs
L: Subway Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap = 8 carbs
S: ??? Maybe Cider again because it is cold and rainy today
D: Heroin Wings - 10 tenders = 10 carbs, also a side dish of veggies (4 carbs) = 14 carbs
S: Sugar Free Jello - 0 carbs
42 carbs total.

Checked the scale today it said 154 lbs :hyper:

Amanda! 154!!! WOO-HOO! WTG! I'm sending :wizard: that that number sticks for you - or preferably goes down!;)
Great job with the Body Sculpt tape!! When I do them, I do kinda just move along with the beat at certain pts cuz I just haven't gotten the hang of it all yet. But hey, as long as we keep the heart rate up, that okay then right?!;) I know I am just thankful that noone is secretly taping me!
Have a great day Amanda! :sunny:

Thanks Doe and Sharon - my offical weigh in is Wednesdays and I am hoping by next Wed. it will be in the 152 to 153 range so I am going to wait on grabbing that new clippie. :)

I need to vent - I am helping to plan a bridal shower. The Bride has asked us to throw her family shower which is about 60 people. Her family is ultra picky and would not drive out to my house for the shower (I'm the only bridesmaid that is a homeowner). So we are going to have to "rent" a place to have this shower since no one in her family has offered up their homes. The cheapes place we can find that is available is $400 and that doesn't include food, drinks, or decorations. All it is includes is the facility plus table and chairs. A wee bit expensive if you ask me. I am getting really aggravated that no one in her family is offering to 1)Volunteer to help or 2) help pay for the event. I know it is typically the Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids duty to throw a bridal shower but usually it is one for friends - not nearly this expensive.

Then I get an email from my cousin, actually she is my 2nd cousin but we are the same age. I have 3 2nd cousins that I grew up with. One got married a year before I did - I wasn't able to attend her bridal shower but did send a gift. I did make it to the wedding. My other cousin got married the same year I did before me. I had to go OUT OF TOWN for her wedding and gave a gift. My wedding showers come along - none of my cousins show up, send a card, a gift, or even call me! Then the wedding they all RSVP'd that they would be there but none of them showed up again, card, gift, or phone call. Obviously my feelings were hurt. Not because I didn't get a gift but because they basically ignored me after I had been there for them.

The one had a baby last month - I did not attend the baby shower. Plus in a very tacky display they invited my Mom who divorced from my Dad 3 years ago (all three cousins are on my Dad's side)

Anyway back to the email - the 3rd one is getting married this year and is emailing me to get my address because she wants to invite me to her Bridal Shower and she really hopes I can make it. I am considering this response to her:

"Dear X,
Congratulations on being engaged! I'm sure you have been very busy with the wedding plans.

I have to be honest and let you know that my feelings are still very hurt that you and your sister were not able to attend neither my bridal shower or my wedding day. I always thought that although we lived far apart that we were close. I was looking forward to celebrating something special with the cousins that I grew up with. I can't described how hurt I was that you guys didn't come, or even send a card to acknowledge my wedding. Especially since you both RSVP to both events that you would be there.

My address is XXXXX

Love,
Amanda

What do you think?

Edit to fix a HUGE spelling error!

Oh, Amanda, such difficult situations!!

Let's see - situation 1: Bridal Shower for Bride's Family:
Traditionally, the maid of honor & bridesmaids throw a shower (party) in honor of the bride. Thus, whoever is hosting is in charge of where to have the party, how many people to invite, how much to spend, etc. If you decide to have it in someone's home the bride should be grateful that you are throwing a party in her honor. If you only have room for a certain number of people at the house, then you calmly let the bride know that and ask which people from the LONG list she would you to invite. The bride does NOT get to dictate the conditions of her shower - she's already doing that with the wedding. However it is proper to get her input (or her mother's input if it's a surprise) on the guest list.

Situation 2: Bridal Shower Invitation from Cousin
I think that I would merely send her your address. Then when the invitation comes, you can be "busy" that day if you choose not to go. There is no need to bring up past hurts - if you didn't address your hurt feelings at the time, there's no going back after 2 years and voicing them now.

Of course, these are just my opinions and you are free to totally disagree and disregard them with no hurt feelings on my part. :D You asked and I thought it best to answer truthfully.

Best wishes on making decisions in BOTH situations! :sunny:

Tough call Amanda! I totally agree that they were 100% out of line to not call, send card....especially after RSVPing that they'd be there. Once you RSVP to a wedding, you are bound to send a gift even if you don't go. I'm sure you spent a pretty penny on their meals that no one ate!
However, this is a joyous occasion for her (not that yours wasn't! ) Do you want to get in the gutter with her? Hurt her feelings because she hurt yours? Examine the why of it. I think I would speak to her instead. Indicate your mother would feel very akward given the situation.... Say something like "I really missed you at my wedding. I was sooo looking forward to having you there to celebrate with me. What happened? You RSVPd that you were coming and then never showed up?" (Can you tell I'm really big on using guilt?!!!;) ) However, I do admire your approach because it is direct. Not vicious, but certainly conveys the point. Speak to mom and hubby, see what they think....
As to bridal shower, perhaps call the family. "Well, I have looked into renting a hall. The cost is $400 without food, beverages, etc. Unfortunately, at this point in time, I can not afford that, what with my mortgage payments and all. However, I would very much like to host the bridal shower at my home. It is really the only way I can swing it right now. How does April 18th look for you?" At that point, they can say, well I'll help pay or April 18 is fine. It's polite but lets them know the cost and the fact that it is too much for you. If your paying for it, it has to be what fits in your budget, period.
Now, on to you. I know what you mean about waiting till official weigh in day to change the clippee and weight. How about a mini celebration for now?YEAH! WTG!! Yippee!!!
Seriously, keep up the good work Amanda. You are doing so well. Don't let all this emotional baggage get in the way of you meeting your goals!
Hope your day gets better! :sunny:

Menu today:

B: 16 carbs
L: 8 carbs
D: 6 carbs (chicken) and 2 carbs for Fauxtatoes.
S: Snacking while cooking - 10 carbs

Total of 40 carbs today.

I'm really bummed at the moment. The stress from my family and trying to do this bridal shower is really weighing me down. So I think I am going to make it an early night tonight.

~Amanda

hey amanda, i'm sorry all the family stuff is bumming you out, but i'm glad you're not letting it get to you too much. good idea to make it an early night and catch up on some rest.

and i had to thank you for coming by my journal and scaring away my cold :teeth: . i think you may have at least scared most of it away :p

hope a good night's rest helps you feel better! have a great day tomorrow :sunny:

Good Morning! I'm still not as :sunny: as I would like to be but I am working on it. The sunshine and the warm weather are helping. It is already 61 degrees today! :)

Plan for today:
B: plain instant oatmeal with splenda - 16 carbs
L: Eggs with salsa and sourcream 4 carbs
S: Peanut Butter and Celery Sticks - 4 carbs
D: I'm thinking of picking up Applebees - I'll get the Bourbon Street Steak with veggies (YUM!) Not sure on carb count - I'll have to look it up.
E: Total Cardio Scuplt with Abs

Other goals for today:
Find a place to have this darn bridal shower
Clean bedroom and living room
Read "Greatest Salesman in the World" by Og Mandino

Last night I started reading at 8:30 and didn't stop till 11p.m. I finished a book by John Grisham called "The Bleachers" it was a really great book. I was completely caught up in it.

~Amanda

Amanda, I read Bleachers a few weeks ago - excellent read!

61 degrees!! I like your plan of picking up dinner - maybe then you'll have time for a quick stroll outside!!

You'll have another book to read on Monday :p - FedEx tracking # is 844997180064.

Hope you have a day filled with peace. :sunny:

I just have to comment that my lunch today was one of the yummiest lunches I have had in awhile. I love eggs with salsa, peperjack cheese, and sour cream. YUM! Plus it keeps you full for a very long time.

I had a coffee this afternoon - I just can't seem to shake this depression I've felt the last 2 days and decided that maybe a sweet pick me up would help me to feel better - 5 carbs.

B: 16 carbs
S: 5 carbs
L: 4 carbs
total so far today 25 carbs

I forgot to make my afternoon snack today so I'm not sure if I will get to my Cardio workout or not. I am really craving a short walk in the sunshine so I may do that instead. I'll do the tape tomorrow morning if I don't do it today. DH will have to work tomorrow anyway.

2 people at work are talking about going into business for themselves today. That has been my unattainable dream for awhile now. I would love to open and operate a children's bookstore. I think this is just adding to my depression.

I'm going to concentrate on Applebee's tonight. Good news depression is not making me binge!:yo-yo:

~Amanda

 Amanda. I'm sorry you're feeling blue. Sometimes that happens. I hope you're able to get out into the sunshine this afternoon; that may help some. Please know that you'll be in my thoughts this afternoon. Also, try not to stay up too late reading. You may be needing some extra rest right now.

Erin

I can't believe I am 5 days in a row cheat free. Now that is something to smile about :smooth:

I am coming out of my funk and that is a good thing::yes:: sorry to everyone for being such a negative nelly the last couple of days. I am proud of me for not binge eating or giving up. No Divaprincess: here!

I was within 55 carbs last night so that is the good news. Checked the scale today (someone take that thing away from me!) and it says 155lbs. I've decided that if I am still floating between 154 to 157 lbs by the 15th I am going to have to try Atkins induction to break through the plateau. I hate induction.

Can you believe I have done my Firm tape already this morning!:jumping1: DH had to work so I woke up with him and made myself a 2 egg omelet with salsa, pepperjack cheese, and sour cream (one word - scrumptious!) drank a glass of water and put in my tape. I did the Complete Aerobic and Scuplt with Allie this morning. It is a tough tape - really intense and I won't lie - I had to stop it once to refill my water glass and take a short breather. I also had to quit on some of the ab work. But otherwise I got it done. I've had 3 glasses of water already today and that is 48 oz down the hatch! :)

B: - egg omelet - 3 carbs
S: - Sugar Free Jello - 0 carbs
L: ???? I'm going grocery shopping this afternoon and I might get stuff to make chicken and cheese quesidillas, I estimate 12 carbs but I'll need to check the packaging.
D: ?? Again not sure. I'll no more once I go grocery shopping and balance the check book.

DH and I are going to get our taxes done tonight!!! Everyone cross your fingers for a refund!

~Amanda

I had sushi this afternoon. Yikes. CA rolls are my favorite and they had them fresh at Sam's Club today. I think I had 4 so I am guessing 30 carbs in just those 4 - BIG YIKES! So I am up to 33 carbs for the day so far. We are still not sure about dinner - nothing sounds good to either of us. Maybe some fish - who knows.

~Amanda

hey amanda, glad you are feeling better! i'm very proud of you too for staying on plan and not cheating even though you were going through some tough stuff! keep that bear rollin, he's lookin fiiiine :smooth:

mmm, those california rolls sound yummy. they are the only type of sushi that i like, but i really do like them! glad you got to enjoy them. yeah, big yikes that they're so many carbs, but it still fit into your day, so i think that's a-okay. you may have regretted it if you hadn't gotten them. so as long as you enjoyed it and you don't go over carbs, you're good to go ::yes::

hope the rest of your day and weekend go well :sunny:

Good job Amanda!!! Not binge eating when you are feeling blue is a major accomplishment!! Good for you!:Pinkbounc
Hope the tax return holds good news for you! Nothing like Uncle Sam forcing us to save I say!! I know it is not the smartest money move, but man it sure is nice to get a little nest egg each spring!:p
And way to go with the Firm tape! You and Doe - such busy girls early in the morning!:teeth: I can only WISH (play on words, hehehe) I had such resolve!
Have a great evening!
TTFN-
Sharon:wave2:

Oh I wish I could say I was cheat free yesterday to Sharon and Marcia who were so sweet to come and post in my journal. But I lost the mission and ended up going way over in carbs. The culprit was chicken nachos and a regular coke.

But we are going to get back on track today! I'm not going to let yesterday affect me at all. I am thinking I might take a short walk this morning because the :sunny: is shining and some time in the :sunny: might brighten my mood.

I am going to my MIL's tonight for my nephew's bday party. I will avoid cake or rice krispy treats which I think is what they might be having. they were orginally serving hamburgers and hotdogs which I thought - cool I can avoid the bun and stay on plan. But now I hear she has switched to doing finger foods like Toasted Ravioli (It is a St. Louis thing), cheese sticks, and baked potatoes. Not exactly on my diet. I am thinking about picking up a veggie tray on my way there but I don't want to seem insulting to my MIL. She and I are not close and don't get along very well. Plus she is like my DH which is rail thin and really does't understand things like diet and exercise. My other plan is to eat before I go, eat very little while there, and then eat again when I get hom. Maybe she'll have some sausage and cheese *crossing fingers*

Plan for today:
B: I am making Atkin's pancakes with Cream cheese - 11 carbs
Bacon - 2 carbs per 3 slices I believe.
= 14 carbs
L: Something at home. Probably Tuna Salad or maybe some grilled fish. I need to finish my Cauliflower Mashed potatoes.
D: At MIL's

I might change my breakfast menu. I need to figure out if they are 10 carbs per pancake or 10 carbs for the batch of pancakes. If anyone knows please tell me!

Thanks,
Amanda
