Amanda's Menu Planning Spectacular!

Oops, Amanda, am I supposed to be responding to your trip report posts?? I gotta confess that I know nothing about the Trip Report board. I responded to Day 6 where you talked about the Haunted Mansion! I say the CM ought to EXPECT a certain percentage of people to reflexively react as you did! He brought it on himself! :p I wonder how many times that has happened to him?

Your siggie is lookin' GREAT! I just wanted to see you get credit for all you've accomplished! I hope you're proud of you, girlfriend, because you've been working so hard at this and you're succeeding! I'm proud of you!! :happy1:

I hope your 30g day is going well. You can do it! :sunny:

Lookin good Amanda! WTG!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc That 10 lb clippee looks mighty fine!:smooth:

Your day sounds very good. I have found that staying OP is my biggest motivator. i get so far along and then I'm like "I have no desire for that cause I don't want to loose my momentum". Keep saying that and steer clear of those donuts. Besides, someone sneezed on them. Big gooey mess! Yuck! (right Marcia!;) )

I hope you are having a great day Amanda!:sunny:

B- 4 carbs
L: 9 carbs - chicken,salad,low carb milk and Hershey's Kiss

D: Something to do with hamburgers
Water - 32 oz gone - 32 more to go!
Vitamins - done!

~Amanda

I'm hovering around 26 to 27 carbs - as long as I make it through the night without binging we should be in the clear. Thank goodness tomorrow is a 55 carb day! :) We ended up doing tacos for dinner - I made mine with low carb tortillas - yummy!

~Amanda

great job yesterday amanda. i know those extra low carb days can be tough, so i'm glad you have a higher carb day today :). mmm, tacos sound so good. makes me think i might want to make some for dinner tonight. i love reading other people's journals and getting ideas for food! even though we're on different plans, i love getting ideas from you low carbers anyway! :teeth:

hope you have a wonderful day today, enjoy those extra carbs :sunny:

What is a good theme song for today.............How about "You and me we should be dancing in the streets! Dancing in the Streets!" Hehehe. I reached into the back of my closet today and pulled out one of my favorite shirts. It is 3 years old but hardly has any wear to it since I didn't get to wear it much. See it is kinda tight - but today it is on and I look fabulous. I'm in my first pair of goal pants (the pair I've been wearing for a while now) and my shirt. I feel like I million bucks! I even put on make up to reflect my good mood! :):bounce: :):bounce:

Tonight I am going out for drinks with some women from work. It has been the month from hell here and we decided that we needed to go celebrate the end of the month with some cocktails. I asked a friend of mine who has been doing Atkins a lot longer then I have what drinks I could order. He suggested Vodka Tonics, low carb beer (yuck) or Rum and Diet Coke - which is what I am going to order. I'm going to try and keep my carb count low for the day though in preperation for this evening.

Last night DH and I sat down and went over our finances. We just needed to decide what we were going to concentrate on and what are our objectives for the year. Takes away the chance of arguements if we are both on the same page. :)

Okay so plan for today!
B: Sugar Free Jello (0 carbs) - 1/4 cup crushed Walnuts (3 carbs)
L: I'm thinking Tuna Salad or if I think I have time some of Lisa's Salmon Patties.
S: Yogurt - 14 carbs
D: ???

Exercise: The Firm Tapes
Water: 64 oz.

~Amanda

Amanda - You are doing so great! Your upbeat mood is so contagious too! Thanks!:teeth:
I bet you look wonderful today! Nothing like fitting back into a favorite outfit to give you a quick pick-me-up!:sunny: I am sure you will turn some heads today between the outfit and the beautiful smile I am sure you are wearing!:teeth:
BTW, if you like beer, you should try the Michelob Ultra. My DH is a beer drinker and says it is pretty good. In fact, although he is no longer dieting, he still drinks the Ultra at home if he has a beer. So it can't be too bad. (I'm NOT a beer drinker, so I can't offer you my opinion!)
Have a wonderful day and keep on dancing in the streets!:hyper:

Okay feeling all bloaty at the moment. My lunch was salty and that is probably the cause of it. I am so uncomfortable at work. My bra is fitting funny for some reason and now my goal pants are pinching me. I'm off to "adjust" some things.:crowded:

B - done
L- done
vitamins - done
water - 32 oz gone!

Amanda, I'm sending out an emergency call for the Whoosh Fairy to give you a little help! We want you to be comfortable and lookin' good for your "girls' night out". I bet you look great today and if things are just a little snug, it will be more incentive to stay OP while you're out tonight. Rum & diet Coke is a good choice!

DH and I need to do the finances thing also, right after we get all our tax stuff together....oops I almost forgot about that tax stuff! Thanks for helping me remember! ::yes:: You'd be amazed how many problems in a marriage can be traced back to money - voice of experience talking here! :p I'm glad you and DH are able to talk about your financial goals!

Hang onto that :sunny: smile, Amanda!! Keep on dancin' through your day! :cool1: :cool1:

Thank Doreen the whoosh fairy showed up about 30 minutes ago and we are back to feeling nice and comfy again. Plus I'm drinking water like crazy.

I am feeling very sluggish today despite having taken my vitamin and having one soda. Might just be because the day is moving like molasses though. Found some great recipes online today (can you tell I'm working hard) that I am going to make over the weekend. Some sweet snack items to help combat cravings in the evenings. I think my sluggishness might have to do with only having about 12 carbs in my system. I am trying to save all of mine up for dinner tonight. We are going to Chevys - not sure what I am going to order yet and they don't have nutitional info out on the web.

~Amanda

Am I the only one that loves girls nights out? I didn't do as well as I would have liked to have done - really food wasn't the issue. It was the 2 very large margarittas that I drank. Yummy! So no cheat free for me but I'm not beating myself up about it because to be honest I needed a night like that. My 2 friends and I had a blast venting about work and getting things off our chest.

I didn't work out yesterday and I tried to get up this morning to do it and was unsuccessful. We are meeting friends up at a bar tonight (I'll be drinking water) for a couple of hours so I am hoping to get to my Firm Tapes tonight when we get home. It will be warm and sunny Saturday and Sunday so DH and I will be walking.

Today's goal - 55 carbs
B: Yogurt - 14 carbs and Walnuts - 4 carbs = 18 carbs
L: ??? I'm thinking a chicken Wrap at home. = 7 carbs
D: Chicken Wings - 12 carbs
Vitamins
Water - 64 oz - should be a piece of cake today.

~Amanda

no way amanda, you are NOT the only one who loves girls night out! i myself am a huge fan :). i think i'm going to be participating in one either tonight or tomorrow night...not sure though, but hoping so :). it's really great to just be able to get together wiht girlfriends, have a couple drinks, and enjoy each other's company. we all need that every once in a while, it's good for our souls ::yes::

the wonderful weather coming this weekend sounds like it's getting all of us out into it to get exercise! how great that is! just think about how much all of us will be outside when spring actually comes :sunny:

hope you have a great day today :hyper:

Margaritas....YUM!! I was drinking Hurricanes last night but I was out with DH, not the girls. :p Happy to hear you had a good time! Hope you have another great time out with DH & friends tonight!

Enjoy your weekend!! :sunny:

Okay I need to post this....I am getting discouraged and for no good reason. Why you might ask because I am at 155 lbs and in my head I've been there for a month. Which really isn't so. I went on vacation and went back up to 160 lbs while I was gone. When I came back it took me 2 weeks to lose those 5 lbs which is really a healthy way to lose weight. I KNOW this but I still feel like I am not losing weight. This is stupid and I know and I am hoping by posting it that I will get over this feeling.

I tend to do this - this is where fear comes in plus I'm really happy at my weight now (who wouldn't be happy 10 lbs lighter) and I start to sabotage myself - I don't want that to happen again.

I have a plan for today and I know I am going to get through it - hopefully tomorrow I will feel better. Hopefully the scale will move to 154 lbs over the weekend and I'll start to see that my efforts are not wasted.

Thanks for hearing me out.

~Amanda

 for you, Amanda! I know how you're feeling! I've been stuck right around the same weight for quite a while - losing & gaining the same couple pounds. Vacation did NOT help.

I've decided that I'm going to try to be happy just maintaining until the warm temps of Spring arrive and I can get outside for more walking. I know I can do tapes inside, etc. but it just isn't the same for me as walking outside in the fresh air.

Don't know if this will work for you or not, but I thought I'd share. It's so much harder to lose weight in the winter!

amanda, i can totally relate! it's kinda weird, because we say that we're comfortable at the weight we're at, but we also know that we want to lose more. it's a really weird thing, but i know exactly what you're talking about. some days, i'll just think, i'm never going to lose the extra weight, why don't i just eat a little more (that cookie, that piece of chocolate, or heck, that whole bag of cookies, why not?) and try to maintain? but then sometimes i think, no, i really do want to lose the rest, what am i doing to myself? it's totally a crazy thing. i'm always worried that i'll be having a day where i think "whatever" and just totally sabotage myself. i don't know how to explain why it happens, i just want to figure out a way to make it stop!

maybe doe is right, the winter is a really hard time to stay motivated and lose weight. i know i'm going to do my best to stick to my plan though. maybe it will get easier with the warm weather. maybe the fact that we'll have to be wearing less clothing (t shirts and shorts instead of long sleeves and pants) will help with the motivation.

i don't know. i just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. big  . we can do this amanda. hope you start to feel better about it. one day at a time sweetie. one day at a time.

You know Amanda, a few weeks back DH happened to ask how the diet was going and I replied "terrible." He right away started in on how I was just giving up, not trying, blah, blah, blah. No, I had no intention of giving up and I told him that. But in all honesty, I was following the "rules" and not really losing much. I was discouraged. But his comments spurred me on. NO, I WAS NOT GOING TO GIVE UP! I decided, I'm sticking with it, at least until summer. If I'm still not losing, then, maybe then, I would rethink it. But I am NOT going to fail this time! I will succeed! And I will feel so great about myself when I reach goal.

You had a wonderful vacation. Okay, you gained 5 lbs. When is the last time you took off 5 lbs immediately upon returning from vacation???!! Two weeks, and vacation damage control is over. You ROCK girl!!! Set the small goals, make them happen. Before you know it, you'll make goal. July 4 is 20 weeks away. Where do you want to be on July 4th? That is just about the start of swimsuit season here. 20 lbs in 20 weeks ain't too bad. Or even 15 lbs would be sweet in my book. I know I would feel MUCH more comfortable in my swimsuit with 15 less lbs!!!:teeth:

Hang in there Amanda! You are making progress. You just need to readjust your thinking a bit!;)
Have a good weekend!!

Thanks everyone for responding. I know I am making progress my mind just doesn't seem to realize that we had to lose the 5 lbs we put on. Which does make you wonder - I put it on in a week and it took me 2 weeks to lose it - doesn't seem fair does it? ;)

I'm starting to feel better, part of that being because I am really low on carbs today. It is a 55 carb day and I'm only at 23 carbs for the day. My dinner will take up 12 carbs so I'll still have 20 carbs leftover after dinner. I think I'll make a Rootbeer float when I get home - that is 10 carbs. :) and it makes me feel like I'm cheating! Wow hot wings and rootbear floats - I love this diet!

I'm starting to get my focus back - just had a down moment this morning but I think writing about it helped keep me away from the junk food.

~Amanda

I love days like today - because I don't have to cook anything! :) It is a 55 carb day and we are meeting friends for lunch and dinner. I've got a plan already decided so now worries there! DH and I are busy cleaning the house today since our friends will be here for dinner tonight. I'm not going to get in any exercise today unless DH and I go for a walk before they come over. The weather is beautiful today! Tomorrow I am definately doing some sort of exercise - I've slack on that this week and that isn't good.

Yesterday was cheat free! whoo hoo! And the scale said 154.5 lbs today!

Plan for today:
B: 2 eggs with salsa and cheese - 3 carbs
L: Olive Garden Soup and Salad - 18 carbs in the soup and about 2 carbs in the salad
D: We are splitting pizza and salad with our neighbors - I'll be limiting myself to 2 or 3 slices of pizza (thin crust in 4" squares).

I might be over the 55 carbs but I am making good choices and that matters more. So as long as I stick to the plan I am going to count the day as cheat free.

~Amanda

good to see that scale moving in the right direction for you :)

sounds like you've got a great day ahead of you (er, partially behind you i guess, seeing as it's 3pm now :p ). hope you have a great time! and yes, definitely cheat free as long as you stick to what you said you'd eat ::yes:: . looks good to me :bounce:

Okay I didn't realize that the minestrone had beans in it - no wonder it is 18 carbs! Anyway I hardly touched my soup because of it so I am going to say that my lunch was only worth 12 carbs. Sheesh! The salad was delicious though and they let me bring what was left home so now we have fresh salad for dinner tonight (since ya never know what you are getting at a pizza place).
