Am I the only one who likes burnt food?

I go for the "burnt thing" with hot dogs, bacon, frozen pizza, pretzels, etc.

Love burned toast, burned pizza (I will cook a frozen pizza, take it out, cut DH and DS's servings off and then put mine back in under broil for a few minutes), burned choc chip cookies, LOVE burned lasagne (pretty much anything with cheese)...

Our cafeteria has awesome cheesy hashbrowns and I always request the burned ones..

My siblings and I still fight over the burnt or crispy edges when we get together to eat. And unfortunately my kids have discovered the joys of burnt food as well. It must be genetic because my wife doesn't care for burnt food. Her loss, my gain.

The best part of the beef roast in the dried up edge that didn't stay submerged in the juices while being cooked. And I always search through the cheezit crackers to find the ones that are a little more done than the others. Is it time to eat yet?

I eat just about everything well done. When I go to the Outback I order my steak extra well done or very well done. I always order pizza well done too. I hate when chicken is fat and juicy. I like meat and chicken to be thin and dry.

Some of my food must be OVER done for me to eat it, for examples, meat cannot contain any pink, pizza, lasagna, and pepperoni. But toast, bagels, muffins, pop tarts all must be LIGHTLY toasted or I can’t eat it.

Let me tell you..... I don't know how you do it. Even the taste of something slightly burnt makes me sick to my stomach. I can't stand the charred pieces on steak. But.... you learn something new every day... this is one of those days. I never knew that people actually LIKED food burnt!! :confused3

My sister will be glad to know there are others "out there" just like her...she loves everything crispy! You should see the looks she gets at restarants when she asks "Can you burn that for me?" :rotfl2:

So glad I posted this thread! I never knew that there were others like me...my DH thinks I'm crazy and that I "ruin" good meat by ordering it well-done.

Maybe we should start Burnt Food Eaters Anonymous?? :confused3

I love the charred edges of bbq chicken and steaks! Don't know if it's true or not, but I heard or read somewhere once that the charred food is a carcinogen. I try not to eat too much!

I love burned cheese and burned hot dogs. Nothing better!

There is a big difference between the "well done" type folks and the "burnt toast" folks. IMHO :teeth:

My Dh is a burnt toast kinda guy, the kids won't let him make them any kind of bread/waffles that require toasting as he can't seem to remember that he is the only one in the family that likes it burnt. He also doesn't like any type of moisteners or moist food, no cheese, no gravy, no butter. Everything is burnt and dry! He likes his waffles and pancakes burnt, won't eat french toast since no matter how long I cook it, it remains to "gooey" for him, potatos baked and dry. Yuck :confused3

I had to disable the smoke alarm that is nearest to the kitchen, every morning he burns his toast and would set the smoke alarm off and wake the entire household. :firefight

I hate to be stupid...... but what's a carcinogen????? Not that I eat burnt stuff too much, but I want to know what it could do to me. ;)

I like my Mac & Cheese to be burnt on the edges and cheesy in the middle. Re-heating it in the microwave until it's nice and crispy is THE BEST!!!

It's cancer causing.

Like everything good in life. :guilty:

I just thought of something else I like crispy. Fried rice! I only know of one chef who can do it right. There's this female chef at our favorite hibachi restaurant -- she's great. Calls everybody baby and sweetheart. Somehow it's acceptable coming from her. :confused3 I always ask her for crispy rice. She'll add extra butter and leave it on just long enough for it to be crispy, but not burnt.

You're so not alone.

I love burned stuff

I call it cajun style. :p

Burnt hot dogs, hash browns, pop corn and potato chips! Oh, and barbeque sauce on whatever!
