Am I the only one who does not like a particular Disney character?

I was never that fond of Ariel. Just a fishy bimbo with no respect for her father and nearly ruined everything because of her stupidity.

Not a good example to set for little girls IMHO.

My wife said the same thing yesterday. She told our girls that they can play with the toys but that they weren't watching the movie because Ariel made horrible decisions.

Going even further, she determined that every princess who was living with her royal family was a complete screw up. Ariel and Jasmine are the only 2 I guess but it made me laugh.

Tink is overrated. Everytime i've met Cinderella she's been not so nice and all the other princesses are much more talkative. I'm starting to dislike Tiana because she is replacing Aurora on all the princess merchandise. I understand that one blonde princess must go but make Cinderella disappear!!! I may be biased though...Aurora is my favorite.

I never understand that fascination with meeting characters though. I get it for children but I still get creeped out by meeting them.

I am so glad I am not the only one who thinks this! I have never liked Ariel.

I strongly dislike Ariel for the reasons mentioned previously. I think Jessie is obnoxious but can tolerate her cuz I love Toy Story. I think the Hunchback and Pocohontas (sp?) were boring. I HATE cars. I'm not crazy about Princess and the Frog either.

And I've never seen Lilo and Stitch because it looks terrible but I will watch it someday just to see for myself.

I saw the Peter Pan play in Chicago a few weeks ago and Tink was definitely loved by the audience, she got the loudest cheers at the end.

I'm not fond of Stitch or Tink, but I'm totally weirded out by Captain Hook :rotfl2:

My group wanted a picture with him and I freaked out a bit and he totally caught on and went with it. Eventually the character attendant came over and asked if I wanted to walk away :rotfl: We quickly took the picture and ran away. I have no idea why, but that creepy smile gives me the goosebumps!

Captain Hook has been my nemesis since childhood. During one of my first trips to the World (probably '85) while watching the parade on Main Street I was waving at all the characters; my parents were sitting behind me and tried to wave him off because they knew of my deep fear but he didn't notice and good 'ol Cpt. Hook came right up to me and I immediately started crying. I was a pretty tough kid, so that was a big deal. But my parents felt so bad that I ended up getting the Minnie wearing a kimono doll that I wanted...so maybe I was just being manipulative

Also do not like Pinocchio, Dumbo, Lady (love the Tramp though) or Cruella De Vil (who doesn't?)

I agree Belle is one of the few princesses with a brain. I think Jasmine has a brain too, and Repunzal is pretty smart too, she was just naive.

Of course, some of the princes are pretty stupid too.

I always loved Belle. Smart, had standards, didn't care what he looked like, etc. Then a friend of mine said she was horrified when she took her dd to see it. Her take...? Hmm, why would a woman stay with a man who treated her & her family (Belle's father - Maurice) so horribly abusive. She said it sends the message to hang in there no matter how horrible it is, and eventually he will become a prince. hmmm, I had NEVER thought of it that way. Actually, she kind of ruined the movie for me. :confused3

I am not a fan of the movie cars, but I like the characters Doc and Mater.

I like all the villians, as in they are good villians, not that I want them over for dinner.

I got turned off from Cinderella in the parks, she wasn't a "warm" character (she actually checked her watch while posing for a photo with dd, up until then I loved her.

I hate what Disney did with Iago (sp?), from Aladdin. First he's a bad guy, then the next movie he's not so bad, then the cartoon on tv he's just about Aladdins best bud. Is he a villian or a good guy?

Not a fan of the humans in 101 dalmations. Who stays friends with Cruella? College friend or not... I guess Roger isn't too bad, at least he stands up to her.

As far as tink goes, I like her in the original Peter Pan. that's about it. She shouldn't talk. Her body language is what made her so appealing IMO.

I forget his name, but I love the guy from Pete's Dragon. Nora's father. Played by Mickey Rooney. hehehe He reminds me of my Grandfather.

I am just not a Tink fan. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing her fly in Wishes.. But besides that, not a fan.

I can't stand Pinocchio or Geppetto. And didn't really like Wall-E and Eve.Frollo in the Hunchback of Notre Dame was so creepy.

I like Winnie but will NEVER wear a shirt with him on it to a park EVER again..if I heard a CM say to me" You got a little Pooh on your shirt'...once...I heard it a 100 times!:headache:

The same thing happend to me back in 2002 when I wore a strappy Top with Pooh Bear on it, the CM at The Jungle Cruise wouldn't let it go lol.

Stitch is my all time favorite character ever... sniff. I love Ariel too. I think both of these characters are extremely misunderstood. Stitch just for the fact that Lilo & Stitch is a movie in the same vein as Dumbo, it's extremely heart warming, humble, and charming. and because of his cute factor in the movie his merch. got way out of hand. That's really all there is to him.

As for Ariel, she did make bad decisions but in my opinion Ursula was the one who manipulated her and made the decisions Ariel would later make seem appealing. Ariel was not motivated to go to the human world by her infatuation with Eric, but because her dad destroyed her grotto. And while it was a bad choice, Ariel did the best she could with the situation she was in and realized her mistakes almost immediately.

I'm not denying at all that she did make bad choices, but the thing about her is that her mistakes were her own and that separates her from the other princesses, which is why I like her.

The only franchise I find completely utterly boring is Sleeping Beauty. Not sure why.

I agree with what your friend says, I love Beauty and the Beast, it's one of my faves and I'm glad the whole story turned out the way it did but I wouldn't say Belle was a smart princess because she did stay with a man who treated her dad badly, kept her locked awayas a prisoner in her new 'home' he looked like he was so close to hitting her when he started trashing everything around her in the west wing, yelled in her face quite a lot, wanted her to starve if she didn't eat with him, I guess there could be more. I just don't see that as a smart move! And although Belle doesn't know about this but I'd say at the start of the story beast as a prince had a similar personality to Gaston and only loved a girl for her looks, as he turned the old woman away but changed his mind when she became beautiful.

I feel like I'm trashing the movie now. I don't mean to as I love it so much! But for those reasons I definately don't see Belle as a smart princess! :dance3:

I'm not a fan of the Cars characters. I tried to watch the first one and didn't see the reason for the sequel. Didn't bother with that one in the theaters and I doubt it will be one I'll watch when its on tv.

They just lack the Disney 'cute' factor. I'd have rather seen them as supporting characters in Toy Story as Hot Wheels or the like.

Stitch, I didn't care for in the movie but grew to tolerate him on the Lilo and Stitch cartoon. I don't think he needs his own Disney attraction but whatever.

Maybe its that almost all of my favorite Disney characters are always the ones least used (Daisy, Alice, Marie, Kanga, the green aliens from Toy Story, etc.) instead of oversaturated with merchandise and marketing push.

WOW!! I never ever thought of that. Thanks -- you ruined the movie for me too ;) (you know I'm just teasing right)

I hate hate hate Stitch with a passion (sorry Stitch fans)

I also have an odd thing where I don't hate face characters but I won't go near them in a picture -- they freak me out (so of course my husband always forces the issue just to mess with me)

How can you hate Stitch?????

Stitch is a great character. He has amazing super powers and that alone is pretty cool. He is fireproof, bulletproof and he can lift 3000 times his own weight. He has many other powers and supposedly super intelligence. But he was created to be destructive and that is all he knows (or so he thinks).

More than that Stitch is a story about redemption, and about finding your place in the galaxy and finding love.

Stitch was created by the evil genius Jumba to wreak havoc. He wasn’t even named, he was "Experiment 626". He was immediately rejected by his “father” because he was so ugly, and he was imprisoned and abandoned.

Jumba said of him “626 was designed to be a monster, but now he has nothing to destroy. You see, I never gave him a greater purpose. What must it be like to have nothing, not even memories to look back on in the middle of the night?”

Indeed.

Later he tells Stitch to come back into captivity:
Jumba: Yes, yes, that's it, come quietly.
Stitch: W-... waiting.
Jumba: For what?
Stitch: Family.
Jumba: Ah. You don't have one. I made you.
Stitch: Maybe... I could...
Jumba: You are built to destroy. You can never belong.

But Through his time on earth and his relationship Lilo, he learns he is more than an experiment created for chaos, and he finds out what it means to have a family and to love and be loved. Near the end he says:

“This is my family. I found it, all on my own. Is little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good.”

Long live Stitch!

Wow lot's of hating on the poor characters :rotfl: I love all the Disney characters and love meeting them all....except one
Cruella De Vil I can't stand her. Maybe because I'm such a dog lover

Just got back from Disney on Ice tonight and us adults all let out a collective groan when Stitch appeared.

I loved him in the movie but since then, Disney's really just tried to push him as an annoying character... and it worked.

I love them all, but my son agrees with another poster on Captain Hook. He does not like him. For the longest time, he would not even watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates, because Hook was on it. DS claims Hook is mean for taking things that do not belong to him. Out of the mouths of babes.
