Am I the only one underwhelmed by the Electrical Parade?

When I was a CM working at Main Entrance MK, I saw Spectro 2x every evening and by the time I ended up leaving the job, I thought that damn music would drive me insane! Now I miss it terribly and I'm so sad that my husband won't get to see it in person. I really think the MSEP is a fraction of what Spectro was.

I always thought Spectromagic captured the heart of what it means to visit MK. I don't mind MSEP at all but it doesn't cap off the night like Spectro did. Of course, it was also the first parade at Disney that I ever saw so I'm sure it's pure nostalgia for me.

It is my absolute favorite part of WDW. I have the music as a ring tone.

I love MSEP!! I love the music, it makes me so happy. I watch it on youtube when I'm missing Disney. I've never seen Spectro though. I'm going to have to watch that on youtube later.

We just returned from Disneyworld earlier this week. I was surprised when halfway through the MSEP, my wife suddenly told me she didn't want to continue watching it any more! She said she really wasn't enjoying it at all. (We have seen it a couple times before on previous trips to WDW). On reflection, I had to admit that I much preferred the SpectroMagic parade! Why? The music! I can still hear that music from SpectroMagic in my mind, and we saw it in 1993! It has such a grand, triumphant feeling to it. Yup, I have to agree with the others, SpectroMagic is/was better than MSEP.

Im literally sitting in front of country bears right now at 10:00 waiting for msep. It should get here about 10:35. I think it rules. We have potc fps after the parade. Then the crowds should be much lower.

And my ds3 loved fof today. When he saw Dumbo on the back of one of the floats he screamed DUMBO!! at the top of his voice. Dumbo is his favorite.

For me, it's the music. The synthesizer sound is so dated. Spectromagic's music was so much more complex and weaved the classic Disney songs seamlessly into its main theme.

MSEP was just supposed to come back for a quick summer nostalgia trip a few years ago but stayed so long that the Spectromagic floats rotted away. So sad. Time for something new.

MSEP was a DL parade for me. Spectromagic was much better, IMO. Then they replaced Spectro with the older MSEP?

It is time for a new parade, altogether, IMO.

Its been posted many times that the floats are in pretty poor shape. I don't think that Disney specifically let them rot away its just that they stopped upkeep on them. I think I heard that the years had not been good to them and I'm sure at some point they figured either we need to put in another parade or just replace them all.

How long was Specro supposed to run? I could imagine Disney told the float builders we need these things to last 5 years so they used wood instead of steel, foam instead of fiberglass, etc. and then when 5 years came around the accountants told them to stretch it out.

I like spectromagic because it had a grand and big symphonic score and laos I loved the song in it too it has words in that fit perfectly with an experience at a disney park much like we go on does with Illuminations.
