Am I the only one underwhelmed by the Electrical Parade?

MSEP is one of my favourite parts of a Disney trip. A big part of it is the nostalgia factor--it's one of my oldest and fondest Disney memories.

I have fond memories of the one in Disneyland so I can't get enough of MSEP at MK. Its outdated, but never feels old to me.

If they got rid of it, all of a sudden there would be an uproar about how Disney made a mistake the same way they did with (defunct attraction). Personally, I like. Yes, it is dated but that's the point. People who have been going to Disney since 71 can always have the nostalgic experience - and it's one of the few original attractions left on property.

Yup...agree 100%

Dh and I love MSEP. It was one of the highlights of our last trip and something we always do !

I liked spectro but I LOVE MSEP. Love the floats & ESP music. Prob my most-listened to disney song on my mp3 list. Bummed they took away blue fairy. Gives me chills of happiness when that music starts.

For me, it's the music. The synthesizer sound is so dated. Spectromagic's music was so much more complex and weaved the classic Disney songs seamlessly into its main theme.

MSEP was just supposed to come back for a quick summer nostalgia trip a few years ago but stayed so long that the Spectromagic floats rotted away. So sad. Time for something new.

Agreed hopefully WDW will get there own version of paint the night at some point.

Spectromagic was grand and beautiful but I love MSEP. I find it fanciful and playful and just get the biggest kick out of it. I didn't see it until long after seeing Spectro several times so I feel no nostalgia for it.

Spectromagic was so much better. Never got tired of it but the electric parade just does not do it for me.
When I heard the floats for Spectromagic were destroyed so were my hopes of it coming back cause the Electrical parade just doesn't do it for me,they need a replacement soon.Spectro was like Illuminations for me,I can see it 50,000 times and I would never get tired of it,I did see MSEP when I was a kid so I was kind of excited to see it come back but after seeing it once it was very underwhelming and immediately wanted Spectro back.

We have no nostalgic attachment to MSEP. The first night parade we ever saw was Spectro and it was gone by our next visit replaced with MSEP. I didn't realize it until MSEP started that night, and boy was I disappointed.

MSEP is cute but I can take it or leave it. They should keep it but rotate it with something new.

Nope. I think parades are boring--just never could get into them and certainly would never spend time holding a spot for one. We use all parade and show times (including fireworks) on rides.

I love parades and there is something I do not like about MSEP. It creeps me out a little or something. FoF is amazing though.
This exactly. It's kind of creepy. But I also love love the FoF one. Way better than the previous one.

For PP question, yes, I meant the water pageant. I heard it was neat, but if it's less impressive than this, I'll take a hard pass.

I hear a lot of people talk about Spectromagic, but I never got to see it.

Oh Wow...
DH & I saw Spectromagic in 2010 and absolutely loved it. I just looked up You Tube videos for both parades... I'm disappointed. :( I don't have any nostalgic feelings associated with the current parade since I never went as a kid, and the music doesn't have any depth to it. Spectro's music pulled at your heart strings. Electrical Parade' music feels flat in comparison. The floats definitely look older too. It's our four-year-old's first visit though so she'll probably think it's great no matter what. :)

It has an "old" vibe to it ...not sure if all the floats are actually old. I saw it this past November and just didn't get all the crowd. I know now to take advantage of the rides during this point, but I wanted to see it once to see what all the fuss was about. It's put me off wanting to try the water one.

Yeah, we're a "one and done family" with the MSEP too. AND, if you were underwhelmed with the MSEP, you'll be completely disappointed with the water pageant. It's not a parade - just barges with those big light up things (like a big Christmas decoration) going across the lake.

We like it, and part of why we like it is because of that "old vibe." I hope they don't change it.

I am not a fan of MSEP at all! I just pulled up a video of SpectroMagic on youtube, and the music still gives me goosebumps!! I never got bored with SpectroMagic. I can listen to the music over and over and over again and we HAD to watch it any chance we could.
I don't mind the music of MSEP... for about 3 minutes. Then it just makes my skin crawl! But we still have to watch it at least once every trip - it just feels wrong if we don't! :D

I haven't seen MSEP since it left Disneyland when I was a child. So I'm really hoping they don't get rid of it before our to WDW, I would really like to see it again.
