Am I the only one that does not like Animal Kingdom?

We love DAK, Dinosaur is my daughter's favorite ride (out of all the parks) we love the theming, Kilamanjaro Safari, the kids play areas in the Dinosaur section, there is a new Roller Coaster coming that is already looking really terrifying!

Maybe when your daughter is bigger she will have fun on dinosaur and not think it's so scary.

I love Animal Kingdom, but my mother doesn't like it too much! This time, for something different,at the end of the day we'll go to AKL for the first time, and have supper buffet at Boma.......That sounds like fun!

One thing I find interesting about Disney is that our "favorites" change every time we go. We've learned to never dismiss anything.

Our first trip (with the kids), we didn't find Animal Kingdom to be that great. At that time MGM was our 2nd favorite park (MK was and is first). Now, we love Animal Kingdom. It's a close call, but it's probably our 2nd favorite park (Epcot grows on us more and more every time we go though). We don't care for MGM (aside from Fantasmic) that much anymore.

Like I said in my prior post, I didn't like AK at ALL. We went the year it first opened and we found it at that time, to be hard to manuver around, and the staff was not much help. The ONLY thing I liked was the Safari ride, and we had to wait an hour for that. I avoided this park from than on....fast forward to 2002 and I went when Kali River Rapids had opened, and they added a few other things. Dino-land was just being built. Anyway, spent a WHOLE day in this Park, got to REALLY know it and LOVE it! Now, I NEVER miss it, even if I go for a few hours, I have to go! The Parade is Great and so is Tarzan and of course, FOTLK is a MUST SEE! Thanks to the DIS it opened my eyes to this park!

i like the actual rides and a few shows, but i'm not big on some of the walk throughs since they're like going to a large zoo at home. i think Ak has great potential, but disney needs to add more attractions, which they will do over time...it'll just take some time.

The first time we went to Animal kingdom we only gave it half a day. So we decided that we didn't give it a fair chance so we went a whole day. And My husband and i struggle through the whole day. We loved festival of the lion king. Saw very few animals on the safari. Like the dinsour ride and a bugs life and I kinda liked the parade though it falls last on my favourite Disney parades. But we could not get into Animal Kingdom. To us it was just a glorified Zoo. I live in Toronto where one of the biggest Zoo in the world is. So it was nothing special. But for kids who love animals I think this would be a great place. But Our next trip to Disney if we go it will only be 1/2 day. I do not know what they could do to make it better. But I think it is not set up well. My DH and I kept getting disorientated because we could not always find the tree. In Epcot we could always see the Globe, In MGM the Hat and Magic Kingdom the castle. But always got lost in Animal Kingdom. Too much of a jungle for us.

In my opinion, Animal Kingdom is OK. The problem is that the rest of the parks are great. Yes, there are a lot of things to see and do at Animal Kingdom, but it just has the feeling of "not quite done yet".

Definitely a half-day park at best.

No, you are not alone. My family and I do not care for Animal Kingdom either. We have been to WDW five times this year and are going again Feb 10-12 as we have AP's. We never visit that park. Our favorite is MGM, but we also love MK and Epcot as well.

Animal Kingdom is my second favorite (after MK - of course) Epcot is the one I don't care for too much. Gail

DH and i are planning on doing AK one day and MGM the next,,HOWEVER due to all the not so happy feedback about AK,,we arre geting park hopper passes JUST IN CASE.......

No, you are not alone. My family does not love AK either. In fact, it is the only park we skipped this past Dec. The trip before- in Nov. 2003- we went for EE and were outta there by 11:00, if not before. We love the Festival of the Lion King show, the safari, and like the Pochontas show- but this is not enough for us to constitute going and wasting time park hopping. We like- but the kids don't- the It's Tough to be a Bug show and dinosaur- but the kids don't so we don't do them. There are good characters too- but none we can't see at another park. We'll probably return the next trip in 2 years to ride the new coaster.... princess:

I wasn't too impressed with AK either. I think the weather had a lot to do with it though. I didn't see ANY animals because I just couldn't stay in the park. I would go in and stay for about an hour and then leave. I wanted to see the Lion King show but didn't want to wait until the 2:00 show. I only experienced three attractions - Dinosaur, Kilamanjaro Safari, and A Bug's Life. During the time I went it was too cold for comfort and so standing around and waiting until a certain attraction to open was not a great idea. To top it off, waiting for a bus from AK to get back to a hotel wasn't as efficient as the other parks bus system.

We love AK. DH, DS (6) DD (2) everyone enjoyed the entire day last July. We didn't like Epcot. Everyone is different. The hopping will really help since you just won't know until you get there. My kids loved playing the the dino area, the shows(not Tough to be bug), conservation station, everything! We liked it w DS the first time when he was just two also. Have a great time.

absolute, absolute favorite. We went the 2nd day, and heard nothing else the rest of the trip..........fortunately, a later trip to AKL helped out. He still talks about it every single day. Older ds loves the dino area.........especially the playground there. All of us love the Lion King show..............the character trails there are so nice, and the Pocahontas show is the cutest! I just love that song.........................some of the animals here can not be seen in most zoos...........we have a huge zoo here and we do not have fruit bats.............and they are living in such a good replica of their natural habitat that it is very, very nice for the kids. The safari is very cool. The rest of the park (we've only gone to conservation station once) is so well-themed like you're in Africa or Asia, that we feel as if it's an extension of the world showcase at Epcot. We'd probably take this park over Epcot..............we do only spend half a day here, though, because once too many people get there it seems pretty crowded. We generally see Lion King, Pocahontas, all of dinoland, ITTBAB, the safari, the walking trails, the characters at the greeting trails if we haven't seen them yet, and sometimes Kali River Rapids...........this one we don't mind skipping................and lunch by parade time.......watch the parade and go...........we call that half a day, as we generally stay at the parks until close.....................seems like if we wanted to do all those plus the Flights show we keep trying to make and run out of time for and the new Everest..........it may take all day..............in which case, we can find time for conservation station again.................

Also would like to put my two cents in :goodvibes Keep in mind that relatively speaking, AK is still a new park. Greatness develops over time, and AK still has a long way to go. I love AK, but agree that I couldn't spend a whole day there. I think the themeing is great, and they are on the right track, but just not there yet.

Well, considered it's the least visited park, guess we're not alone.Of all Disney parks,it's our least favorite. I wouldn't say I hated it,but there was only a few things we liked. As opposed to the other parks, where we want to do and see EVERYTHING.Now in it's defense, I was VERY overweight :guilty: ,last trip. (have since lost 130lbs) and it was HOT :sunny: the day we visited AK. We took the train ride thinking it was something else. The safari was a wash,we only saw a few animals. The rapids were great,Tarzan rocks was great. Line was too long for Tough to be a Bug.Food was good. So, I'd go again, but wouldn't plan on a whole day like I do the others. pirate:

While it may be the least visited WDW theme park, it is by no means suffering for attendance

1. The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Fla., 15.2 million, up 8%.
2. Disneyland, Anaheim, Calif., 13.4 million, up 5%.
3. Epcot at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Fla., 9.4 million, up 9%.
4.Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Fla., 8.3 million, up 5%.
5.Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Fla., 7.8 million, up 7%.
6.Universal Studios at Universal Orlando, 6.7 million, up 14%.
7.Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando, 6.3 million, up 13%.
8.Disney's California Adventures, Anaheim, Calif., 5.6 million, up 6%.
9.SeaWorld Florida, Orlando, Fla., 5.6 million, up %.
10.Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal City, Calif., 5 million, up 8%.

I think one day it will be a great park as they really get everything added that they want. As for now.....I think it's boring and rarely make a visit there on my trips.

Animal Kingdom is my second favorite park. It is the MOST well themed park I have been in (excluding MK) and is so exotic. It's a wonderful escape...the only downside is the heat...WOW is it hot in August..I still have yet to ride Kali though, oddly enough.
