Am I the only one that does not like Animal Kingdom?

I LOVE AK. Dinosaur is my favorite WDW ride. Also I love the Pocahantas show and the Festival of the Lion King. I still have NEVER seen Tarzan rocks. I just can't get my family to that one. Maybe next trip. :)

The AK parade is the only WDW parade that I will actually sit and wait for. It is my favorite.

I can do without the trails. It's just like a zoo to me and I can stay at home and visit the zoo.

Me and my four DD's LOVE AK. On the other hand, DH would be happy to skip it . . . BUT WE WON'T LET HIM!!! It's a gorgeous park!!

Just one of my FAVORITE pics that I shot in May 2004. Just one of the many examples of the BEAUTY to be found in Disney's Animal Kingdom!

:earseek: Yikes, I really hope you are joking (as your use of the :P and the ;) suggests you might be) There isn't a single animal in the Reserve that isn't real

Yes there is a fake animal.....he's on the safari in fact. :earboy2:

The Animal Kingdom is not one of my favorites, but then again none of them are. Each theme park appeals to a different part of who I am as a whole. The Magic Kingdom reflects the kid in me. I remember going to DL as a child,pre-teen and teenage. The magical memeories created with my family and friends are with me every time I set foot into the MK or DL. Epcot represents the adult in me. I love having a beer and the Rose and Crown or wine tasting at different pavilions. I love just sitting on a bench with a snack and watching people. MGM represents my life long obsession with the entertainment industry. I miss Superstar TV, The Soundstage Tour, Monster Sound Show, The Original Animation Tour and the original Backstage Tram Tour, but I still love the concept. Animal Kingdom appeals to my love of nature and the outdoors. I love storing "useless" bits of information and the AK is able to produce many of those bits for me. I am the one, by the way, at aquariums that reads all the signs and info about the marine life. I am curious by nature.
Finally, Pleasure Island and the Boardwalk reflect the drunk in me...............

ROTFLMAO!!!

p.s. those were actually all very good points.....it really says a lot about how each park has it's own personality.

Everyone has different tastes and I am sure that you aren't alone, however I LOVE Animal Kingdom (depending on my mood, it is my favorite park). I don't go to any of the parks just for the rides, and that is especially true here. But I also love animals and zoos - I am a member of my local zoo and go often (though AK is entirely different). I love the atmosphere of AK, but each to their own.
I completely agree. I love AK for the atmosphere. It is such a beautiful park. My view is that you can find rides in any fair or theme park but that's not enough for me. I love the attention to detail at AK. Really looking forward to being there at night for the EMH.

it is always the first park we go to. I LOVE it - especially the parade, if they ever take that parade away I'll be heartbroken

I love it DDs love it DS and DH DS do not.
I love the walking trails KMJS, conservation station, The tree of life, Harambe area, Asia area, though you could take out Dinoland and I would not care.

repeating, there isn't a single animal in the Reserve that isn't real. DisMN, just to clarify, your reference isn't in the reserve :) ...and your driver will always mention the fact that "we are outside the reserve now.." as you pass through those gates that have been smashed through ;)

I don't like AK either, especially in the middle of summer. It is so much hotter than the other parks. There's not enough shade and very few indoor attractions. The only thing my sons like there is the Boneyard, especially where they dig for fossils. I like animals, but I can see most of the same ones at our local zoo, and in a nicer environment.

There is something about AK that makes me sad. All of these animals are taken out of their natural habitat and put there for our enjoyment.

AK is one of DS12s 2 favorite Disney parks - the other is EpCot

Ahhhhhhhh YESssssss right-o you are! :cool1: :earboy2:

Hey, anyone else enjoy the simple things at AK......like the music piped in everywhere? It's soooooo relaxing and mellow. Seems to make me take the park at a slower pace. :smooth:

My family and I went to AK for the first time last June. We really didn't care for it. Maybe because of the summer heat. :sunny: We did love the Lion King show. We may try it again on our Dec. visit.

We went for the first time in june and we enjoyed the park. Perhaps it won't be at the top of our list, but we will never skip it. Some of my favorite aspects of ak are the beauty of it, the wonderful shows and the ease with which you can meet characters. Ak is just a different flavor from the other parks, but it still has the magic.

This thread has been the best at agreeing to disagree and I totally appreciate the way no one flamed anyone. :Pinkbounc

You just described perfectly why AK's my favorite park. However, I raised 2 very active boys, and if they were still youngsters, I admit that it would be my least favorite park-all the whining of "When are we going to doo somthing, Mom?" Knowing I have the luxury of relaxing there is one reason I love it.

I think that had the economy had stayed the same as it was in the early 1990's when the idea for Disney's Animal Kingdom was conceived and the decline of the tourist industry after 9/11 hadn't happened, we would see the Animal Kingdom that the Imagineers originally had planned. Believe me... it was incredibly awesome and inspiring, offering something for everyone. Great Shows, animals, thrill rides, kids rides and even a land for mythical beasties. If all of those plans had come to fruitions, I believe Disney's Animal Kingdom would be right up there with MK in most guest's minds. If you have the opportunity, please read The Making of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park by Melody Malmberg. It is a great read, and will help you to appreciate how this park is indeed a Diamond in the Rough!

We went to AK once two trips ago. We had an "ok" time...... I'm sure it is a fantastic place.......but it's no longer on our schedule when we go to WDW. Although.......my daugher and I would REALLY like to try the rapids. So we'll see...

We haven't been to AK since 98. If i remember correctly it hadnt opened too long before we visited. For me it was just okay. We only spent half the day there and decided to go back to MK. We are going to try it again this trip. My 5yr olds love animals, so hopefully we will all find something to love this time around. I didnt dislike the park, but at that time it seemed like it was missing something.

AK is my family's favorite park. It's our type of park, we love nature, animals, conservations, etc... There are so many hidden gems in this park. For instance, if you sit outside, in back of Tusker House, you can actually hear the woman doing dishes from the apartment above you!

Here are some things we love about AK:

Tumblers at Tusker House
The Bar at Tusker House
Flame Tree BBQ
Kali River Rapids
Safari
Trails
FOLK
Character Greetings
Tree of Life
Music piped in
Primevil Hurl
Dinosaur
and soon to be Everest!

We go at least twice (two half days) and still never see and do everything each trip!

We were not big fans in the beginning but we never miss it now.We love the tree of life, flights of wonder show and the other live shows as well. This year we took train ride behind the scenes of safari ..very cool. Its so much more then just a zoo buts its how you look at it.Some people come to Disney thinking rollercoasters are going to be around every corner and thats not what its about. Its not a constant adrenaline rush. Its a family experience.
