Am I stuck?

So, I have booked at Celebrity Resorts Orlando in Kissimee. BAD MOVE on my part and now I am so stressed! I looked and looked before I booked and was lured in by their low prices and beautiful internet pics. They stated on their website that they are undergoing an extreme makeover and AT THIS TIME MOST of the suites have been remodled. Great! Thats awesome!

So today I call them to confirm that we will be in a newly remodled suite. Nope. The cust service woman was so very rude and told me that since I used Hotel Kingdom to book that we are not in a new room and wont be able to get one. She said that since we only booked a 2 bedroom suite that we will not get to stay in a new room because they only have 4 remodled suites and those are only in the 3 bedrooms. So much for MOST rooms having completed the renovations.

I began searching the net for reviews on this hotel...now I know that its pretty much a dump. I read one in 5 positive reviews. 4 of 5 were telling me to run from this hotel, aka bug infested broken down fire ant infested dump.

I am so upset! We need a hotel from 10/25/07 to 11/3/07. I NEED at least one bedroom, and I need a kitchen and washer and dryer and a great pool for the kids. We are a family of 5...kids are 5, 3 and 15mo. My sister will be spending 2 nights with us also.

I had really wanted something off site, resonably priced...like $85 a night or less and just nice, ya know? I dont need a 5* resort, but a 3* would be great. I want something homey and happy for my kids. Now I am terrified that we are either going to be stuck here or pay an arm and a leg at this last miniute. It seems that nothing is available now.

Any advice?

Thanks so much for your time!

I had good success finding a rental that seems to meet all my needs on bookit.com. Check the resort maps for location, then check tripadvisor.com for reviews. I am sure you will find something good. This is a slow rental time, so the deals are there.

Check out Windsor Hills for a 2 or 3 bedroom condo or 3 bedroom townhouse. Some of the condo rates are in that range and because it's last minute you might even get it for less. You can put in an inquiry with you dates at the owners site:
www.windsorhillsrent.com

Windsor Hills is very new with a great pool and it's only 5 minutes to Disney's Animal Kingdom but you will need a car to get around. There is a shuttle service to the park but with little kids the schedule may not work for you.

Do you by chance have military affiliation (either active or retired)? There are some terrific options possible if you do...

For $85 a night you could probably find a condo instead of a hotel. YOu're staying over a week and that keeps the cost down....plus a condo you'll have more room and privacy.

Here are some websites to check:

vrbo.com
springvacationrentals.com
homeaway.com
greatrentals.com

there are zillions more, but that should get you started.

I'm curious.....if all these people are complaining about bug/ant infested.....has anyone called the authorities? Hotels must be regulated for health hazards aren't they? Seems a surprise inspection is in order for this place.

You may also want to check out www.myresortnetwork.com to see if there are any last minute timeshare rentals available. Opt for a 2/3 bedroom - there are a few on there that would meet your requirements - Westgate Town Center 2BR/3BA for $600 (you'd have to check with the owner to see if your week's available). There's also some last minute e-bay opportunities for your week (type in Orlando rental). There's a Cypress Palms 2BR/2BA starting at $525 that's ending in an hour!! (no bids yet)

Plenty availability over at Expedia.com.

From $32 and up per nite. I saw a lot of villa/condo opportunities.

THAT is a great question! All I know is that I read that its bug infested more than once and thats enough to scare me off!

This is a great idea!!!! I am a huge e-bay fan. I wish that I had thought of it before. Would have saved me a lot of stress! LOL!

Has anyone stayed at Cypress Point Resort Phase II? In the Grand Villas? I was offered a 3 bedroom there for $828 total. It looks awesome! Any feedback from here?

Thanks so much!!!

If you subscribe to Mousesavers they just sent out an email yesterday. There is a link for 35% off at Hotel Royal Plaza in the Walt Disney World Resort! If you want you can PM me and I will forward the information to you. Looks like we will be down there at the same time!

We've stayed in both phases of Cypress Pointe and LOVE it there. Tons of activities for the kids and a wonderful volcano pool with slides in Phase I (which you can use even if you stay in Phase II). We were just at CP Phase I from 9/16-9/23 and had a blast. Have you checked availability for CP or CPGV on Skyauction?

Hi, sorry for the problem..I know the area well and the link above to the condos at Villas at Island Club would be just fine...they are nice, basic condos convenient to Disney, two baths with nice master walk in shower...
at $59/night, you would all have space and get a place for a nice price...

Check out Caribe Royale, Doubletree Suites and Buena Vista Suites. Look on Mousesavers for good hotels in the area. also check with a travel agent (small worlds is good) for deals going on right now at the resorts. Check Pop century, All Stars, Carribean and Port Orleans, which sleeps five. Best of luck to you. Hope you can find something instead of that nasty place. Also try the Sheraton Vistana, they are giving dis'rs a discount and have one bedrooms for 99+tax.

We've stayed at Celebrity Resorts in both Lake Buena Vista and Kissimmee - always look to stay there every time we go - sometimes the rates are good and sometimes bad..... but we haven't had a bad experience there yet and have stayed several times.

Can you cancel the reservation you have at Celebrity?

Yes, I was able to. We booked a 3 bedroom suite at Cypress Pointe in the Grande Villas. We used Four Seasons Travel. Anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks for asking!
~Janelle~

If you'll call a few days before you arrive, you can make any requests you might have with the front desk. We asked for the side of the building that faced the pool and for a ground floor unit (although CPGV does have elevators). They met all of our requests, and we had a great stay.
