DH calls me from work this morning to tell me he has to make a business trip for a meeting that starts on Sept 12. Said the company travel agent has him flying across the country on Sept. 11!:headache:
Does anyone else think that is risky? I keep reading how government intelligence is hearing rumors of a new attack on the 10th anniversary.:scared1:

My DH leaves on a business trip on Sept 11th...I didn't think a thing about it. :confused3

Yes, you are over reacting. In fact, I would expect it to be the safest time to fly because security is going to be at such a heightened level.

I think it would bother me a little but I'd go nevertheless and try to NOT overreact.

Honestly, it would bother me a little.

Agree. Now I think it is human to think of that day and have a few moments concern regarding airplane travel but I would still fly/travel on that day.

I can remember feeling a bit stressed when I flew cross country within days of the 1st anniversary of 9/11 (they company I worked for and was traveling for lost 11 people that day and I spoke to my peers who saw it happened first hand and heard their stories after the attack and their stories/experiences weighed very heavily in my thoughts while I was traveling) but I remember thinking that of all the times to fly security is likely higher at/near the anniversary so it is possibly just that much safer.

Yes, I think you're over reacting. We flew back from our Disney trip last year on Sept. 11th, and my DH will be flying overseas this Sept. 11th. You have to live your life.

We are flying to WDW on 9/11. I don't want to give in to the fear that terrorists want us to feel. I am expecting higher than usual security and that things might move slowly. Other than that, I am just looking forward to the trip!:cool1:

This.

That being said, everyone should watch out for the weekend of October 22-23. Why? Because that's just before I'm scheduled to fly home from overseas. Every time I fly home across the pond something terrible happens back in the USA to delay my flight. No, I am totally not kidding. DH thought I was kidding until our honeymoon. The entire eastern seaboard blacked out.

I have a feeling that if any group is going to attack the US again, they're going to choose a different date to do it on. I would be willing to bet that anyone involved in an attack would be so narcissistic that they would want their "own day" and will not want to share a date.

I've flown on 9/11 a year after the attack and then again 4 years after the attack. I had no fear at all and security was very high. I felt extremely safe.

If anything security will be heightened and it is probably safer.:thumbsup2

Yes I think you are over-reacting.
On a personal level, I would feel uncomfortable flying that day, not because I was afraid but because I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about what those people on the airplanes on 9/11 went through.

With work, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. If he wants to fly out on the 10th, he'd probably have to pay out of pocket for a hotel for that night, and whatever difference there might be between fares then and on the 11th. If he could make it by flying on the 12th, see about the earliest flight and what it would cost the company.

If we didn't have a trip planned, it's entirely possible DH would ahve been scheduled like that...and honestly I woudl probably get him out on the 10th and just pay for a hotel. I'm superstitious. We're flying out on the 12th to Orlando, because going on the 10th is too much out of pocket before our REAL trip starts, but I just can't do the 11th. So we'll have a nice weekend to pack and prepare and change our sleep schedules...

Great attitude :thumbsup2

Have tons of fun!

I also flew (my first time flying) on the 1st anniversary. I wouldn't say security was very high. I figured it would be, but being nearly the only person in the ghost town of Pittsburgh International Airport that day, all I got was a glance of my ticket and a "have a nice flight."

There were 3 of us on a 727 flying from Pittsburgh to Minneapolis.
