I had knee surgery (arthoscopic to remove torn cartiledge) back in November. I'll be finishing with prescribed physical therapy in the next couple of weeks.

We are going to Orlando for 2 weeks in April (arriving the 5th, leaving the 19th). We have 7 day park hopper plus passes for WDW, 7 consecutive day passes for SW (with DC ressie), and 7 consecutive day passes to US/IOA.

Am I going to survive all this walking/standing???? Or should I seriously budget in money for electric cart rentals at a couple of the larger parks????

I would budget just for "In case". Try it the first day an see how it's going. Don't let the pain go to long.. better to ride in the cart or chair then pay for it later.

I had reconstructive surgery to replace my ACL in my knee which cancelled a WDW trip I was to make. Went to WDW two months later, not a problem. Watch what you do, and if it's sore, do the same at they do at PT. I also continued my PT exercises in the room and at the resort gym.

Hope your knee is feeling better!

Welcome to our board!

See how you are doing - you can rent ECVs by the week for a slightly lower rate from several outside companies, if you need it. If you do that, then you will also have it at the resorts and Downtown Disney. Be sure to click on the link in my signature and read the disABILITIES FAQ section on the Guest Assistance Card, or GAC - it may be useful for you. :) I hope that your recovery continues to go smoothly.

Welcome and good luck on your recovery.
If you plan to go to Epcot, that would be a good park to rent an ecv. It is very large and the distances between things are pretty huge. It's also more "wide open", so it's easier to manouver around there than, for example, MK.
Fastpass will help you a lot. You can limit the amount of time you are actually waiting in line to between 5 and 15 minutes.
Here's info about the rental companies that DISers have posted renting from:

I had the same operation years ago and I got out of the hospital on Wednesday and on Friday I was on crutches on a plane to Florida...I did Magic Kingdom, Sea World and EPCOT all on crutches (boy were my armpits sore!!!) I should have rented a wheelchair there but I had to be the "tough, stubborn" one!!
