I am booking a new vacation to WDW for Jan 2013. Last Jan we came for our first time.... used our timeshare to stay at BCV. This trip is last minute so not much has come up avail for 2 bedroom. Ive had 1 bedrooms come avail but there are 7 of us.

I decided that if I couldnt stay in any villa, I should just book a value. DH is down in Orlando for work and was driving around looking at the resorts. He said we should stay at Port orleans instead of the value.

When I was just checking out prices....it looks like paying for port orleans for 2 rooms (to accomodate 7) is about the same as renting points for a villa. Did I figure something wrong? Or is it just about the same to rent DVC points?

Can't answer your question without doing the math and knowing what you would pay for PO. That said, it's true that on average, DVC points rent for $10-$14 per point. There's a link to the point charts near the top of the page.

You may have some trouble renting DVC points if your trip is less than 3 - 4 months out, especially if you are set on BCV. There will be plenty of points available, but probably not much space left at the DVC resorts. We say we are renting points, but we are really renting reservations. :teeth:

Take a look at our Rent/Trade Forum and feel free to reply to any thread offering points for rent. The owner of the points can ch4eck availability for you. If you haven't already, be sure to read the STICKY Threads at the top of the R/T Forum.

The numbers are probably right in terms of cost. I would be concerned though about being able to get a DVC reservation for Jan only 2 months out. I don't think there is going to be a lot of availability at this point. I know things slow down in Jan so it is possible but I would get contact David's if that is the direct you want to go.

We are not set on BCV that is just what we got last time.

I looked into how many points etc on Davids. It was about the same as 2 rooms at po, from what I can tell by looking online at booking a moderate today

It is going to be very tough getting a holiday week less than two months out in a two bedroom villa.

Depending on how many nights you are wanting to book and which resort to book, the number of points required range far and wide.
