We closed on our direct purchase the other day and have not heard anything from our broker. Not a congratulations call or email. I really want to call and say something but I figured I would see what you all thought first.
i haven’t bought direct in a long time but i do not recall hearing from my guide after closing. He is a salesperson who automatically gets the sale if I buy again so maybe he didn’t feel any need to say congrats.
I do not find it unusual at all. First lesson - they work to get the sale because they are a timeshare sales person. It's a given you're going to close with a direct purchase. Resale has ROFR and the other closing document hoops to jump thru so you usually get a notice when purchasing that way because otherwise you don't necessarily know everything has finished and you've gotten the contract.
When I bought direct, my guide wished me congrats during the calls when I was deciding to purchase. Once everything was finalized, and we worked out number of points and UY, that was it until I contacted him again to add on points.
After your verbal agreement to buy on the phone, the process is pretty much automated. You will get all of the documents usually by FedEx with extensive instructions that you will return and the process will continue until your account is created and the points are put in it. The only time I heard from my guide after purchasing was during my first stay, she called to congratulate us and see if we had any questions.
I'll add that there are some guides that apparently call to congratulate or otherwise check in periodically so you might have read or heard of that somewhere. I'd say they are the exception vs the rule. When spending so much money it also would seem like there would be greater fan fare about it all but for the most part it's not much different than calling someone to order something out of a catalog. The fanfare comes with all your enjoyable vacations in the future! Congratulations on your purchase!
PP means what entity are you dealing with as in a Disney GUIDE or a Resale BROKER. Just making sure you in fact bought Direct aka through Disney due to your use of the word broker. HTH.
Our guide (Marcel M. at Boardwalk) called us after we got back home after purchasing to see if we had anymore questions. Called me when I told him we had a problem with something and he tried to make it right. And he emails us on our birthdays. I realize it is all to keep DVC in mind, but they are nice touches.
Our guide (Jason C.) sent us a congratulatory email and our member id number, after we submitted payment, and advised us to make our "welcome home" reservation through member services. This was before we technically closed or any documents even got to us to start signing. Didn't hear from him after our official close (nor did I expect to). We get regular emails from him (pry once every month or two) about possible price increases or to see if we have any interest in riviera.
My guide retired and I promptly received a phone call from my new one. The first thing I said was I wanted communication 99.9% through email and I haven’t heard from him since. My old guide was great at keeping me in the loop via electronic updates. I think it just depends on your guide.
We just bought direct with a new guide (other retired/left). Most of the contact was via email. One phone call to finalize (points were in our account the next day) and DH called the 800# when we received our paperwork to insure we completed everything correctly. I called MS to bank the points as our banking window was passed and MS told DH to do this ASAP. Done.
My old guide retired, I was never given a new one (we were only 25-point direct owners then). We got a great new guide when we bought RIV, and he has called to ask if we have any questions, and sent emails wishing me a happy birthday. Also invited us back for more ice cream when we are next on site. It's a nice touch and we really like him.
