Am I invisible - or just paranoid?

It seems that every time I ask a question (or respond to one) on a thread, my question/response gets completely ignored. Is it that people just don't see the response if they only read the last few replies or do you all know something I don't. Feeling a bit paranoid now - who said that ;)

ETA that it is happened four times now in three days - other people who have made comments/asked questions have been responded to.

wilma who? ;) Well, it took all of five minutes for a response to this post, so that can't be too bad, can it? :grouphug:

Please don't feel ignored, wilma - I'm absolutely certain there's nothing personal going on (unless everyone else knows something I don't, either! LOL ;) ) It's just the nature of discussion boards that some posts will appear to go unnoticed for ages for no apparent reason. It could be that no-one knows the answer to your particular question, or that someone who does know just hasn't seen the thread.

I hope you won't feel discouraged from posting - this is a great community and it's all down to people like you who contribute to it.

:grouphug:

I'm fairly new to the boards but find your advice and help invaluable. Thanks to you my DD and me are doing the Jack the Ripper tour tomorrow night and I'm so excited. Please don't feel ignored or paranoid!!

I don't know the answer to that one Joh but I know I've had days when I seem to have been a thread killer! I guess Hilary has put it really well.

You put a comment recently on a thread where you said 'sorry but I have to disagree with Johnny' cannot remember which one it was now..?
And I responded directly to your quote Joh, saying something like 'fair do's we all have different opinions' or something...so , you do get responses :)

I kill threads all the time with some of my responses but couldn't care less - I like to think my comments are that great nothing else needs to be said

I have a hitlist of people to ignore on this site Joh , trust me you are not on it!!

Joh

As far as I am aware there is absolutly nothing going on, sometimes people have no answers or opinions on the subject, and certain threads will get loads of responses, whilst others will get very few, please dont take it personally.

We always value any input on the boards, and I know a lot of disers have been very grateful to the advice/responses you have given.

Please dont let it discourage you from posting in the future.

I can feel just the same as you!!! :confused3 Actually I did eventually work out that it is best to post questions on the main board in the evening our time when the Americans are up and about. I asked a question one morning and only managed one reply, so a week or so later posted a similar question in the evening and managed 14 helpful replies! Other than that I have decided my user name is a turn off! Can't say that would be the case for you though! Don't stop posting because you feel that way though!

Thanks for your responses. Now, I feel like an attention seeker, which absolutely was not my intention. I guess it's just frustrating when you don't get a response. I will try to be less paranoid in future :) It's hard, when it's a virtual conversation, to guage whether your post hasn't been seen or whether the person in question just doesn't want to reply to you.

Joh ~

I think alot of it depends on the time of day the thread/response is posted and whether it is a weekday or a weekend. I've posted threads that have been answered almost immediately and other times it has taken a bit longer.

I usually find though that because the UK community is quite a close knit smaller community than the rest of the Dis Boards, that posts/threads get answered eventually.

joh, i think most of us have felt this way at one time or another :grouphug: its nothing personal . sometimes i come on and literally have 5 mins so i answer threads quickly and miss others out :confused3

I very often think I am a 'thread killer' so to speak and it is easy to get paranoid which I often do. I find it easy to talk to people but difficult to write it down as I am always worried of offending or boring the people who are reading my replies.

I don't think you are attention seeking just feeling what a lot of us feel from time to time. ;)

Did someone start this thread? :confused3

Don't stop posting Joh.

Don't stop posting Joh.

No fear of my stopping posting. I have no life and nothing better to do. You don't get rid of me that easily :rotfl:

Joh, honestly its nothing personal. I like to log on every evening but sometimes I only have enough time to read posts even though I would love to reply. I am sure this is the case with everyone. Sometimes I have read a thread that has been "ignored", the same thread posted a week later has loads of answers. Hang on in there, we do love you!!! :goodvibes

That's the spirit :goodvibes great that your still around.
I agree with Florence time of post can definitely have an impact and I've noticed that sometimes when I log on threads that I have not read are sometimes not highlighted which means they are easily missed :)

have to say, and certainly not your threads personally Joh, that sometimes i don't reply because I feel my info has probably been said before or my answer just isn't clued up enough, duplicating another answer already etc. sometimes i just feel not worthy to answer. See paranoia goes both ways, ;)

Joh, you will find that many people take umbrage when others don't agree with their own opinion but that is part of the rich fabric of life, we all have our own likes and dislikes and who is to say which point of view is correct? I'm sure no one has any grudge against you and even if they do, "so what", I wouldn't give a seconds thought to silly squabbles that amount to nothing.

Look at all your responses.....see you are just paranoid ;) :teeth:

What posts/threads are you talking about? Let us have a look and try and answer your questions :)

the posts that i remember you posting all seemed to have had responses...
but in any case, even if it were true, it's very important to let stuff like this go...

even in real life if someone blows you off, you should take the attitude that "it's their loss".....life's too short to let other people get you down like this...
