Am I going about this the right way regarding RCI request...

I asked this same question on the TUG boards but I'm going to ask it here as well.

I just got off of the phone with MS...I had asked to trade BCV points for a possible trade for Easter week, 2010, somewhere in Sanibel, Marco or Longboat Key. The woman suggested that instead of waitlisting right now, I should call in a few weeks because by that time, everyone would be back from their Easter vacation and might have given up their Easter weeks for next year.

Does that make sense or should I have asked to be waitlisted right now? This is new to me so I'm still a bit fuzzy on how it works best.

Thanks,

Deb

actually, I was told on another board that I might as well forget getting anything for that time...nothing will become available for that week through RCI.

Has anyone had any luck with RCI? I hate to think that we're only limited to off times and less than desirable areas or resorts when trading our DVC points.

I was told that it would be very difficult to book the resort that I wanted in Hawaii. (We wanted to give my parents a week there, but they wanted a specific resort in Oahu.) We put our names on the search list and paid our $95, and after only about three weeks, our search came through. So, I guess it's not impossible. We did give the search a wide range of dates, though, but the dates we wanted most were the ones that actually came through. Go figure.

What you were told could not be further from the truth. WL are filled first and even at a year out, many of those weeks are already gone for 2010. It's true there is little chance of success but if you don't try, there is no chance. You can always change or cancel later if you get past a hard cutoff time to make your plans. Get on the WL today for anywhere you want for then. Now is a good time to request HI as there seems to be more availability than normal there. Make sure YOU investigate the resorts yourself to see if they are acceptable. If you're not sure, put the ones you are sure about as you can add or delete other resorts later from your requeest if you need to.
