Am I getting ripped off at the Poly?

I called and made a reservation with Disney. I paid $415.00 per night before taxes at the Poly during the first week of June 2009. Why does my rate seem to be higher than everyone elses? I am getting a garden view room (PB) and I don't know what PB means, maybe private balcony? Does this seem quite high to you?
Thanks

I would try through a travel agent, Dreams Unlimited for example. It may be that discounts haven't been applied yet for June 2009; I don't know, though, but a good Disney TA would. It won't cost you any more, and could save you a lot.

The only discount out for June 09 is the AAA discount. DU can get you that on a room only but not a package. HTH!

Value season starts July 19th. The same room will cost under $400 then. If possible, you could postpone your trip a few weeks and go during value season.

Are you AAA members? You can save between 10 and 20% off the price of your room that way.

Call your local AAA travel office and inquire!!

edited to add: this came from mousesavers.com:
"AAA and CAA Resort Hotel Discounts
American Automobile Association (AAA) and Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) members qualify for "room only" discounts almost year-round, though there are a limited number of rooms available for each date. You can generally save about 10-20% at the Disney resort hotels, depending on the season.

The 2008 discounts usually run as follows:

Value Season: 15% off at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts; 20% off at Value and Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.

Regular Season: 10% off at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts; 15% off at Value and Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.

Peak Season and Summer Season: 10% off at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club resorts, or 15% off at Value and Moderate resorts.

The 2009 discounts seem to run as follows:

Value Season: 15% off at Value, Deluxe and Deluxe Villa (Disney Vacation Club) resorts; 20% off at Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.

Regular Season: 10% off at the Deluxe and Deluxe Villa (Disney Vacation Club) resorts; 10%-15% off at Value and Moderate resorts and Ft. Wilderness cabins and campsites.

Peak Season and Summer Season: 10% off at all resorts.
The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas).

You don't have to book AAA/CAA rates through the Auto Club. Room-only reservations with an AAA discount can be booked directly through the Disney Reservation Center at (407) W-DISNEY or a travel agent who specializes in Disney travel. Just ask if there is an AAA or CAA discount for your dates and resort.

AAA/CAA rates for all of the following year are usually released in the summer. 2008 AAA/CAA "room only" discounts were released on August 5, 2007. 2009 AAA/CAA "room only" discounts were released on August 3, 2008."

I would book if I wanted the Poly, then wait to see if you either get a code by e mail or regular mail, or keep watching around mid June 09 for announcement of reduction in rates...For example those traveling mid August this yr through September, I believe these special rates which were announced in June, the rate was $265 per night on a $340 Poly room(Value Season)

Even better value is free dining the last week of August 08, starting August 24th this yr...For those that can travel the last week of August into September, Free Dining was a Great Deal!!!

IMHO, Book and wait for a code!!!!

Good Luck!:goodvibes

As someone mentioned there is not a code for a discount yet for that time period, other than AAA.
So that would be rack rate you probably have. And if 2009 is like 2008, it must be a busy time as it was "holiday season" for meal pricing even.
I suspect since kids are out of school, availability is less, meaning higher prices and fewer discounts.
Hopefully next year you will be able to apply a discount if one becomes available.
PB is the room type/code I think.

Sorry, but I think that any standard hotel room above $200 a night is a rip-off! I know a lot of people pay upwards of $300 and $400 for the Poly, but I just cannot see that it is worth it! That is a lot of money for a hotel room!

PB is just the booking code disney uses. It doesnt stand for anything. And that is the rate for June 09

I took out AAA for our trip to WDW for the savings - it was still cheaper after paying for the membership- but be sure to what you want if available-
