Oh good, this thread is still going. I was afraid someone had stopped beating the dead horse!

But I guarantee whoever choreographed that routine has watched the Beyonce video. It's easy to buy into the rationalization that an 8 year old child didn't realize the provacative, sexual nature of what they were doing. Not so for the adults in their lives. That's what makes it so wrong IMO.
But they didn't choreograph the routine - their dance teacher did & I'd be willing to bet she's see the Beyonce video. The mom's "excuse" doesn't work for me!
Exactly - now read the posts in this thread which essentially say the same thing that the "cracked" person says, but without a call for an outright banning of dance.
They say that this type of dance is "sexual". That it includes simulated oral sex. That these girls are training to be strippers. That they will be in trouble by age 15.
Seriously, I get that everyone has a right to their opinion, but no one has a right to pass these kinds of judgements on these little girls or their parents - or on other posters with different opinions.
Say that you think it is horrible. That is your right. But say that these girls are in training to be strippers, and you are "cracked".![]()
Was I ever nasty? You can't see the difference between someone poking fun and someone getting nasty?
Then why do the women say that about one another all the time on this board and then add laughing emoticons? Is it only poking fun when other women do it?...Calling a woman "catty" is not poking fun. It's right up there with calling her ******.

I'm not talking about other women, other posters, other contexts. In this thread, in this context, and in the way you used it, you weren't poking fun. But I think you know that. I'm guessing this is just another attempt to get under someone's skin. Perhaps hoping that we could drag this back into a battle of the sexes? Were you hoping I would say, "It's different when men do it!"? Sorry, not going to take the bait.

Links to studies please since it is a psychological fact. With all due respect, declansdad, you are dead wrong.
They sure as heck know what sexy is at 8. They may not know where babies come from, but they understand that posing that way feels differently (sexy) than if they were playing ring around the rosie. I was a little girl once, I have sisters, we were a modest family, but I can tell you that when you put skimpy clothes on little girls, have them watch adult women thrust their hips and gyrate in videos, and teach them to do the same, their inate sexuality is brought to the surface. It's a psychological fact, and something I've seen in my own life.
I mean the kids will have grown up, gone to college and forgotten all about this stupid dance routine and this thread will just keep going and going and going. Then why do the women say that about one another all the time on this board and then add laughing emoticons? Is it only poking fun when other women do it?![]()
) and they got points for being mean!! Now that is really bad...getting in trouble because the mods didn't get your "inside" joke and someone else perceived it as not funny! Yikes!
50 pages. . . . y'all do realize that NO ONE is going to change their opinion right? Is there really a point to keep arguing?I mean the kids will have grown up, gone to college and forgotten all about this stupid dance routine and this thread will just keep going and going and going.
Some will continue to assume they are the morality police for the world and will decide for everyone's child what is and is not appropriate
and the rest will continue to be evil and perverted.
Give it up. bye now!

Oh, I see. It's "sad" that not everyone agrees with you.I think you misunderstood me. What I find sad, as I've said before, is how much people get offended and even ANGRY about things that have no reason for one to get offended or angry. How does this sound.
It doesn't matter if it's something like the video in the first post, or the EEEEEEVIL film that is Muppets In Space, I'm offended by everything. Not only am I offended by it, I'm going to do everything to put a stop to it.
I want Animaniacs cancelled!
I want all copies of Muppets In Space, Kick A**, the Chipmunks Adventure, and Leon The Professional burned!
I want Hey Arnold cancelled!
We need to boycott Miley Cyrus, that spawn of Satan. Or at the very least we need to slap a lawsuit on Billy Ray.
We need to get the EEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL of the villains character meal closed.
All in the name of the children.

About young children and sexuality....
I completely and totally agree with Mushy.
There is simply no question that we are sexual beings from day one.
There has never been anything but proven validation of that fact.
Whether these girls have experience, or vocabulary, etc... does not erase the fact that we are all sexual beings... And these girls are being taught, by the involved adults, to go out in front of everyone and 'flaunt' it, as a way to receive the ensuing applause/approval/self-esteem etc...

Quote the still photo because I haven't seen it.
EDIT:Nevermind, found it. Really. Plenty of kids pose that way, I knew girls when I was 11/12 who did those poses for cameras.
And I'd like for your input on something I asked for. The music video of Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus who's "only" 17.
Oh, I see. It's "sad" that not everyone agrees with you.![]()
