Am I getting old or is this horribly wrong?

I think condensention is when small droplets of water are condescending. :goodvibes
You know, condensation was the first word I was trying to work into what she was saying. And I was like "huh"? :confused3

I thought the dollar bill comment was extremely tacky.

I think several posters think their way of thinking is the only appropriate way of thinking.

I also learned a new word today. :) Thanks, Robin! I'll try to use it in a sentence this week. :thumbsup2

I haven't seen the video in question so I can't comment on it. ;)

And I predict this thread will be locked in less than 2 pages from now.

Interesting. I think I'll join a thread about a video to give everyone a list of how they're wrong in their comments about said video, but I won't actually take the time to watch the video in question. Sounds like a plan.

Where did I say anyone was wrong? I was commenting on the coments and NOT the video. I am unable to watch youtube so I can't watch it at the moment but following along was quite entertaining. I made no comments on the video itself.

:lmao: We have now learned about hyperbole, condensention, condescension, and sarcasm. Would anyone like to take a stab at working irony into the tread?

Wel the video is blocked to viewers in some countries so some of us cannot see it:rolleyes1 I did eventually find it being played to different music (to get around the copyright) but it took a lot of doing.

I think it is a bit much for girls that age but really not a big deal personally. I also think most pedophiles are more drawn to little girls looking like little girls than little girls looking all drawn up so I relaly do not see how this would make them more likely to cause a problem than other routines with more typical little girl outfits.

:lmao:
I'll just say it does not mean what Alanis Morissette thinks it means;)

:lmao: Ah yes, good old Alanis and her English lessons. Little of the song was ironic, much of it was merely unfortunate, and having 10,000 spoons when you need a knife is just poor planning.

Oh, it's dripping with irony. The whole "I'm offended that you're offended" kind of thing.

I believe that is a better example of hypocrisy but irony works...more so than Alanis's version of it.

really don't think that was meant as a compliment.

Is it really so hard for anyone to understand that different people are going to have a different view of things?

I see a bunch of little girls dancing, you see something else. I am not going to make you see it my way and you are not going to make me see it your way.

Why insist that YOU must be right and I must be wrong?

My child used to dance. She used to dance hip hop. She wore what you all obviously see as "skimpy" clothing although there was nothing revealing about it. She danced hip hop moves to hip hop songs.

And guess what? She is still that same innocent 11 year old that she would have been without dance. She doesn't dress inappropriatly. And she doesn't dance on the sidewalk or walking down the hall way. She has enough sence to know what is ok on the dance stage isn't something you walk around doing all the time. She knows the difference in a performance.

She is in church every week and knows right from wrong. Her morals are fully intact.

If you choose to never allow your child to dance like this or wear a costume like this--GOOD, don't! But don't assume you are the almighty parent of the century because of it.

But what is the POINT of having 7 y/o's dress like in the video and perform those dance moves? WHY are those kinds of costumes chosen and why all the grinding? Does it make a better dance, a better show, is it better for the girls? What is the value added for a costume styled like this, put together with suggestive dancing. Or if you think the dancing is NOT suggestive, what would a suggestive dance for a 7 y/o be? I get the feeling there is no such thing, it's all ok in the name of the dance.

From what I've gathered, they're just innocent children having fun, they have no idea about anything sexual, it's just a costume, that's how everyone is dancing these days, and it's only "suggestive" to people who CHOOSE do see it as such.

Wow. I'm so desensitized I didn't even blink.

Alright, I like this place, and feel comfortable here, so I'm gonna give my honest opinion and be Devil's Advocate, despite the fact it won't be popular. First, even if you're appalled with the routine, admit it, they're talented. Second, reminds me of the "My Boyfriend's Back" video on YouTube.

This comes down to cultural norms and/or different parenting styles. Grew up in the city. Just take a look at the average African American community. During the summer there's always parties going on where kids are 'booty dancing', not only that, but actually being egged on by adults. This is pretty common. And this doesn't even scratch the culture in Brazil. Also, look at cinema. 40 years ago, all copies of movies like Leon, especially KickA** for having the Hit Girl character would have been burned. The bar for things that are acceptable gets lower every generation.
