Am I doing this for real?

March sailing out of PC. But I'm Canadian. Will I even be able to get over the border? Should I build in quarantine times? Is this sailing worth the hassle and stress?

DH is worried about having masks on everywhere. He's also worried the ship will be as packed as it used to be in the beforetimes. He's not saying it, but he's worried about being quarantined on the ship or worse, getting sick or one of the kids getting sick.

Will we even be able to do any fun excursions? Or get off the ship at the promised ports?

We are all vaccinated (well, hopefully we will have boosters by then), but everything was supposed to be almost over and back to 'normal' by now.

My "cut my losses and run" date is fast approaching, so I have to make a decision. I really want to go. I just don't want to regret going.

I can't answer all of your questions but we have sailed twice since they started sailing again. It is hard to predict so much of the future and when things will return to normal. If I were you, I would cancel and then book something at the last minute so you have a better idea of the covid situation. Also, the only time you need to wear a mask is when you're inside such as during shows and on your way to the dining room. Out of the open decks you don't need a mask, nor do you need one in your stateroom or while on your balcony. Both of our cruises, we sailed at 40% capacity and I felt safe. At no point in the cruise did I feel unsafe. We had no urge to do excursions and we only got off the ship at Castaway Cay. That was good enough for us. YMMV.

I just cancelled a May sailing for the same concerns. Even though fully vaccinated and have had booster, Pfizer came out today and said will most likely need 4th shot! I don’t think it’s worth the worry, that there will future restrictions. So, I cancelled and used the final payment money on a small dvc contract instead. That actually made me really happy! It’s my first, so I’ll at least have something to look forward too.

My family and I are in the same boat (we are from Ontario Canada and have a March break cruise)

My family and I have decided that with COVID cases on the rise and the unpredictability of what could happen come March and all the stress with testing etc. that we are going to postpone our March cruise for the 3rd time......

I thought about that, too. But the credits have to be used by Sept 2022, so that's not much time for things to change.

We have a March cruise booked with DCL as well and I will be cancelling. I don’t want the hassle nor do I like the way infections are going. I figure we will have our time...just not now and I’m fine with that.

All I can say is that a DCL Cruise is about the safest place you can be. Masks on inside unless you’re eating or in your room, and masks optional anywhere outdoors. Everyone is tested prior to boarding. If you have kids under 5, they will be limited to DCL excursions that stay in the Disney bubble, that is staying in a group from when you leave the ship until you return. Vaccinated guests can leave on their own. Likewise, the crew is restricted to the ship for the length of the cruise.

We recently sailed on the Wonder out of Galveston and there never was a time we were worried. We went on an excursion and we’re told that if we separated from the group, we’d be quarantined for I think 24 hours. Once we checked back in at the ship, we were free to return to the port to explore if we wanted. I believe the only other way you might be quarantined is if you are on a 5+ day trip and a unvaccinated child tests positive during the cruise.

This! We've sailed twice on the Dream since the restart and are on the 12/26 Fantasy sailing. The protocols DCL has in place made us feel safer than most places in our local (Central Florida) community; and they in no way detracted from the experience.

Being on the ship is probably one of the safest places to be in the US. Everyone 5 and older Will be vaxxed, AND everyone tested at port and masks indoors. Just be careful at airports. Planes are actually safe because of their filter system.We just flew back from Miami airport after the Magic and OMG If we’re going to get Covid on this trip it’ll happen right here. Place was packed and a half of the people were not even wearing masks properly. People herded like cattle by security check in at the gates. There’s a huge mass of people rush just before noon when you have people getting off flights to head to port in those coming from port to fly back out. So my advice for the airport part I would invest in a good N 95 mask.

I don’t know how things are in Canada but at least on a cruise ship people are screened before hand. Unlike going into a crowded mall or stadium or concert. I think cruise ships get bad rap for nothing. There are worse places to be within a crowd compared to a cruise ship.

We have a 7 night cruise booked on the Fantasy at the end of March. We're Americans, so not as many hurdles for us. I worry about someone getting sick, also but we do all we can to avoid it, we haven't got it yet, so hoping we won't. Our Jan 2020 WC cruise on the Fantasy had bad weather and the GC and Falmouth days were turned into sea days. It was disappointing, but we still had a lot of fun those days. We've done a lot of Fantasy cruise,, so it wasn't that bad for us. I felt bad for first timers or those who wouldn't be able to cruise again. We did a cruise on the Wonder in March 2018. I remember so many people I met were from Canada and were so nice and polite.

Agreed. The protocols and precautions made our cruise far safer than anything we could do near our own home. Our kids are much more likely to get COVID at school than they were on the ship.
