We just spent a week at Disneyland Resort (Ca.) the 1st week of March. Now I have the itch to go to WDW!!! I cannot take the kids out of school again, so I am thinking of this summer! We have never been in the summer, and I think I would enjoy going when the parks are open late, and we can really enjoy the pool and waterparks. We have never used a Disney pool in Fl, and never done a waterpark. Due to my on-call schedule at work (I work in a hospital), There are very few weeks that it would work for me to go. I think the best week work-wise is the last week of June, leading up to the 4th of July. We would leave WDW the 2nd of July. So tell me....what are the pro's and con's of going that week? We have always been in the lower seasons, except for once the Mon, Tues, Weds of thanksgiving week. How would crowd levels compare to that week? Should I wait for the fall? Maybe thanksgiving week again? Please, I would love any advise or tips you have!!! TIA!!! :goodvibes

If you want to be in the parks late and use the pools and waterparks then it is a great week to go. Yes, it will be crowded but with fastpass and your desire for lots of water it should be a good week to go.

If you can, wait for the Fall. Even with hopes for water parks and Fastpass use to take off the edge, it will be hot, humid, crowded, and hellish in almost every respect. If this were your absolute ONLY time to possibly go, it might be worth it, but if you have a thread of an option, postpone at all costs.

Living here, and going to the parks in summers for a meal or to catch a show, I only feel pity for the folks who have spent thousands to come--only to face a daily nightmare that starts with trudging across a scorching parking lot, then waiting in line for a packed courtesy train, and then standing in blistering heat and 95% humidity for 10 minutes to have your bags probed just to enter. And this is often the least painful part of the experience. . .

Hope to see you in October for the Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP!

I don't think you're crazy, because if you are, than I am also. We always went in the cooler off season times, but my daughter is entering high school and is in advanced classes and taking her out of school is not an option any longer. So, if we want to enjoy WDW, then we have to go in the summer. Last August we went not knowing what to expect, but we managed to have a great time. We did TL for the first time and loved it. We'll be going again this summer. We used the hotel pool almost every day, which is something we've never done before. It was a more relaxed trip than we've ever taken before. You have to take it slow in the summer. Take advantage of Fastpass, the water parks, the pool, and drink lots of water and you'll have a wonderful time! :sunny:
