Am I crazy?

Good Luck!!! I have my fingers crossed. toes and eyes (LOL) for you!!! Let us know what happens.
Oh ya, and BTW, without a question...the longer the trip, the better the vacation... I always say.

Still haven't heard yet- so I imagine I won't hear today.... hopefully tomorrow! I can't stand the suspense. LOL

We share one bathroom fine... but I'm sure it will be even better to have more! LOL (they are still young... and for the most part when they are using the bath/shower- we have to help/be with them anyway- so we can't really use more than one bathroom at a time anyway except for toilet ofcourse LOL...when they get older I'm sure the bathroom issue will be a much bigger issue. LOL)

Thanks MrsPete... I had taken those into consideration- does add quite a bit but with a longer cruise I won't feel the need for reserved/planned excursions at every port, not double the spa like I would with 2 seperate cruises- stuff like that. So it's a LITTLE cheaper in that respect- compared to 2 seperate cruises... but only a little. LOL

*twiddling my thumbs*
I know I'm obviously not going to hear back from DU until at the earliest tomorrow... but the suspense on finding out is killing me. LOL Going nuts here with the "not knowing yet".. just had to share.... carry on. LOL

Go for the GF/ 2 cruises back to back- 2 different itineraries. With kids their ages-have you thought about AKL with the animals in your back yard- it's really cool! GF is beautiful, but a bit stuffy- a lot more older folks stay there. I like the Poly for MK resorts. Real family friendly place... Volcano pool is neat. You'll save money over GF & it's more relaxed at the Poly, or AKL.

Good luck! Hope you get the SPRs you want!

Thanks!
I liked the idea of poly also- but that's probably where we'll be staying our next "real" WDW trip. I want to stay at GF atleast once- and so I figured the 2 night trip would be the best time to do it- short. LOL I could always do a night or two on other trips- but I don't like the idea of changing resorts in one trip... I like to unpack/etc. things in my room and not mess with that until it's time to pack up and go. LOL

(I want to stay at GF atleast once so I can say I stayed there LOL- but also we would try to get the Cinderella dinner -it was better last time than Cinderella's breakfast in the castle! Believe it or not.. and I'd like to try to get some use of the spa too.. combined with monorail straight to MK- can't be beat at this point! LOL)

Hoping to hear from DU today... we'll see. I'm already starting to have "second thoughts" about the long trip. I think I'm starting to talk myself into just doing GF and the Eastern cruise even though I originally preferred to do the Western if we only do one. We could always do the Western in the future. The reason for the second thoughts? I started thinking of the total for ALL (flight, limo, GF, cruises, excursions, other charges like spa/etc, tips for both cruises, nicer clothes for us all for the cruises, etc.) and it's as much as a dang new minivan. LOL Not that I need a new one... it's just the thought of spending that much on one vacation.... hmmmmmm

Wishing u best of luck in your planning.

I am planning on taking my nieces and nephews in Jan 2005 am trying to determine the best room arrangement.

One comment re GF: I've stayed there and was even upgraded to a suite w/ a whirpool tub and view of the castle. It was great. Since then I've bought into DVC and now only stay at the Boardwalk villas. They are a better location, much roomier, nicer decortaed (in my opinion). You may want to consider staying in the Boardwalk (or any other) villas in a 2 bedroom? Just a thought.

Good luck!

Thanks! I think I'll need the luck... still haven't heard from DU.... probably takes awhile. I'm just anxious to find out about those rooms! LOL

Thank you for the comparison. I have seen Boardwalk but never stayed there. It is very nice! However, better location really depends... in this case with only one day to do MK- GF or Poly would be the best IMO. But a normal longer vacation anything near the epcot (boardwalk, yach & beach club) would be the best... IMO. Some may disagree because they don't like Epcot as much. *shrugs* LOL

Roomier and nicer decorated is usually something to consider- but in this case such a short stay (2 nights but we'd arrive late the first night- so only one day... then next day is heading for cruise!)- it's not an issue. I just want to stay at GF atleast once- and as pricey as it is... better to make it the short stay. LOL I think while the kids are young we'll probably stick to trying out parks either close to MK (by monorail or boat) or Epcot since those are SO close to Epcot (short walking distance- we've walked from Epcot to eat at Beach club, check out boardwalk, etc. and walked back... with the kids.. even as young as they are now!). Our next trip is probably going to be camping at FW... after that we'll probably start experiencing other resorts- with a cruise tacked on the end. LOL DH really likes that idea now- and we haven't even GONE on a cruise yet. LOL

I'm curious now.. have you heard back from DU about the rooms??

I think it would be fun to do 2 cruises back to back. But I'm with you, the cost factor. I wanted to do the 10 day christmas cruise, but DH said no, because we could do the cruise and the WDW for 10 days for almost the same amount of money..

So we are planning to cruise Dec 11 2004, then AKL Dec 18-28th.

As far as taking the kids out of school. Our teachers have always told me that it's my decision, and that they learn a lot being at WDW. Two weeks ago, my oldest 7th grade, was off sick with the flu for 5 days.. I went to get her homework, and I was suppose with the amount she had. She had it done in just a few hours and she is in honor classes.

ps - we have done 6 in ASM room. My kidds are so little in size, that we have never gotten 2 rooms.

Nope, haven't heard back. I'll be certain to let you all know!

The cost factor for JUST the cruises wasn't a big deal- almost the same as a higher cat for just one cruise going by cat 10 for both cruises... but add in the extra cost of tips, spending, excursions, etc. and looking at the total I was like hmm, that's an awful lot of money!
Plus I figure (and have already voiced this to my husband.... who kinda just rolled his eyes and grinned LOL) that if we don't do both cruises at the same time- we can just go again like the next year or something, WDW with the Western cruise also. LOL

Still thinking about it though... I'll make a decision as soon as I hear back from DU.

Well, I heard back from DU and it's not good news. :(
On the Feb 12th cruise we can get the rooms we prefer on deck 5 (secret porthole connecting rooms) BUT the price quoted is more than I found on allseastravel and cruise.com- quite a bit more. :(

And on the Feb 5th trip- which I'd just about decided to only do THAT trip (if I don't do them both) because it's the one that coincides with the kids' school vacation so they wouldn't miss any days of school.... ALL the cat 10 rooms I requested either on deck 5 or deck 7 are taken already. :( I simply cannot stay on deck 1 or 2. Not an option for me... so now I don't know what to do.

BUMMED... :(
