I agreed to co-assistant direct a children's Christmas show for our local community theater. It's A Christmas Carol, and we have 56 children, ages 4-15, in it. We spent all weekend auditioning, and cast all who came. The other co-assistant director is a 16 year old boy, who is learning. As an assistant director, it's my job to keep the troops in line.

Our theater is old (remodeled movie theater) and the dressing room is small. I need suggestions on what to do to keep 56 kids occupied during a 2 1/2 hour, 2 act show, so they don't get too loud. They will all have to hang in the dressing room (it runs the length of the stage, behind and slightly below it) during the whole show.

Help, I am not sure I am up to the task!

hire some babysitters and a clown or magician. have non messy foody on hand and lots of games. hope this helps!!

Last show we did...we put a video monitor and VCR back in the kid "corral" it worked beautifully.

What kind of non-messy food?

I like the tv/vcr thing. I think I'll work on getting this set up.

Any more suggestions?

popcorn, chips (no dip/salsa, etc.) NO cheezits, crackers, string cheese etc.
