My 10 year anniversary is coming up this fall. We are building a house this year so , we can't afford to take a summer vacation and do something for our anniversary. So instead of DH and I going on a cruise or somewhere alone,
Id rather us and the kids go to WDW.Am I nuts?
We didn't get to do go to Disney last year because of unexpected medical bills. So we havent been in almost 2 years and I feel like I'm gonna die!
I cant bear to go without the kids (ages 2, 4 and 6) I would feel guilty the whole time.
Nothing else appeals to me. We've looked into doing other trips, and disney cruise (which I also wouldnt want to do without my kids, and also out of our budget)regular crusies , all inclusives ect.

Nothing gives me the warm and fuzzys like Disney (and I love the planning)
Am I crazy to want to take the whole family along?

If your dh is fine with your plan then go for it!

This year is our 15th anniv. We are doing Disney for 2 weeks this summer. We walked about doing a trip in the fall just the 2 of us ( cruise, etc) but instead decided to buy AP's and take 3-4 trips with them over the next year. My oldest is 14 and I know that I don't have too many years left of traveling as a family. :sad2:

If I can only do one vacation in a year, it is a family vacation (usually WDW). The cruises are for years when we get 2 vacations, and then it is just the two of us...

Congrats on your 10 years! My DH and I went on a 4day cruise out of Miami and then spent a couple days in Orlando and used old tickets that we had days left on to go to Disney. My sister asked me if I felt guilty. Nope we worked hard and it was amazing to go to Disney as two adults! I saw so much more and people watched. Anyway I understand your guilt, but I felt my DH and I needed some R & R for ourselves and what better way to celebrate our 10 years.

No! You aren't crazy!

We went to WDW for our 10th with the kids. We didn't want to go anywhere else, and the kids hadn't been (it was our first family vacation anywhere). I completely understand. I know how people say "take a vacation by yourselves", but sometimes, it just isn't practical or possible or even desired. Do what you want!

My only advice is book a suite! We didn't on our first family trip (which was our 10th anniversary), but we stayed at the All Star Music Family Suites the second time. It was sooo much better - privacy, kids sleeping in another room (didn't feel like they were on top of us).

On our actual anniversary, I made sure that we had a nice meal planned for dinner.

Have a great trip!

You aren't crazy!! We don't go anywhere without the kids.;) And we like it that way!! Anniversary or not.......

Ohhh, somehow I think this is going to become a "hot button" issue....

I'm afraid to post my opinion:eek:

We went for our 10th with the kids. It was a great trip. While we did have a little alone time on the DCL part of our trip the main part of the "romance" of the trip was TAKING the kids.

We did Disney on our honeymoon. We dreamed of taking our kids some day. We did, for our 10th anniversary. I'll never forget that trip and we might do it again for our 20th, 30th, etc. - and hopefully take children and eventually grand children each time. To me, having our dreams come to fruition IS romantic!:lovestruc

Our travel budget isn't huge, so our big trips involve the kids. We prefer it that way. Our only trips alone have been weekends or overnights to closer locations up to this point and we're happy with that. Now our kids are teens so we are planning a week-long trip by ourselves.

We took 2 of our 3 kids with us when we went to WDW for our 25th 6 years ago. Our oldest was in the army and couldn't go and our other two were 7 and 12 at the time and I hated to get a sitter so we went as a family. Had a great time.

I dont think I could do Disney without the kids...but I am one to always feel guilty! We have plenty of quick getaways but they are things the kids couldnt go to or wouldnt want to go to. I would love to go to WDW alone someday though!

We went to Disney for a long weekend in September without the kids.
We had been there in April WITH them, and it was wonderful.
We have cell phones, called them MANY times, and they got sleepovers with my mom. And lots of presents from Disney.
I missed them a lot, and felt a little guilty, BUT
if we didn't have the marriage first, we wouldn't have the kids now.
My opinion.

We also don't go away anywhere without the kids. We don't get the chance to go everyyear and look forward to spending time as a family. I don't think I would enjoy it as much without them.

I don't think you are crazy because we are doing the same thing. ;) ;)

We are going in June, two weeks following our 10 year anniversary. We went on a cruise two years ago by ourselves and the whole time we were both wishing the kids could be with us.

The way I look at it, ten years ago we made the first step toward making our family, so why not celebrate together? :cutie:

Whatever you decide, just have fun.

We go away every year for our anniversary. Many times it is to Disney. This year we are splurging and going to Costa Rica since it's our 10th. We never travel without our son. I would never want him to miss out on the adventures we have.
