Am I crazy to plan a visit only 2 months out?

This March bad weather in SC and Ga caused us to cancel a scheduled trip to those states the Sun before we were to go and on that Sun we booked a WDW vacation which started 6 days later. We got AllStar MU, the only resort with vacancies, bought hoppers through Disney for the first time ever, too late for UT, and got some quite good FP+ times online. We'll never drive from PA to WDW again but other than 4 days lost to travel we had a ball.

Our last trip was honestly one of the most magical and I only had about 4 weeks to set it up. You may not get all the ADRs you want, or FPs now for that matter, but it is certainly possible to still have a fantastic visit.

I always laugh when i see people staying awake until midnight for a dining reservation (really?!?:confused3). Then midnight again 60 days out for FP+.

I guess my family isn't as concerned with a specific restaurant (they're willing to try something new and different...and yes they're OK with it being a bad choice).

My family is also not concerned about specific attractions...we can always find something else to enjoy and have a good time with.

In my mind, a Disney vacation planned around a restaurant is absurd. Not being able to do a ride...while it sux...is okay if you do something fun with the people you're with.

Sometimes by reading on the boards, i get the feeling that people are more concerned about hotels food and attractions than the family they are with. As much as my daughter loves some rides, we can find something else that she'll enjoy just as much (even if its just as simple as playing a game together).

Booked my last trip on March 17th and flew out May 12th, 8 weeks between booking and going, one of the best holidays ever as I hadn't the time to overplan it as I am prone to do, go for it, I got everything sorted with My Disney Experience and the Magic Bands, it's all very simple.

You're not crazy at all! I think more spontaneous trips can be the most fun! Unless you or someone with you is super picky about where you're staying and/or eating, as you may have less availability with reservations. Otherwise, I'd say to go for it! Disney is always a good idea ::yes::
