Ok... I am SERIOUSLY considering dropping my coveted 'Ohana reservation day before Thanksgiving to go to Biergarten. I know my DH would love it and my girls know nothing about 'Ohana anyway.

Will I really be missing that much? We will be in Epcot that day anyway since I have an Akershus breakfast before park opens :).

Well I've never eated there, because it just doesn't appeal to me! So I would drop it too. If you look over on the restaurants you regretted eating at thread, there are PLENTY of mentions of Ohanas on it.

You will get a good meal at both restaurants and both are well-themed. I think it matters more what will fit best with your overall vacation plans. What time is the Ohana ADR and what time could you get for Biergarten at this late date? Is this night your only chance to see Illuminations? Are there any special dietary concerns?

While I like Biergarten I love Ohana. Is there some other day that you could go to Biergarten instead? Lunch is nearly identical to dinner at Biergarten and, if you are paying oop, is a much better value. Ohana does not offer lunch. At Ohana you get steak and shrimp and pork and chicken and apps and sides and the best dessert in WDW. If DH has not been before I'd hate for him to miss it.

'Ohana is @ 6:10 and Biergarten is 4:35. We will not be eating lunch that day (maybe a snack). So for me the times are comparative.

Maybe I could talk them into dropping Via Napoli on a different day but kind of doubt it.

Oh and we are on the dining plan :). Almost wish I didn't have TS cause it's driving me CRAZY planning this stuff out!

Decisions.....decisions.....

This is great advice:

I think it matters more what will fit best with your overall vacation plans.

I have been to both, 'Ohana many times and Biergarten once. I went to both restaurants during my January 2011 trip. Both were great experiences. Both have fun entertainment, lively atmospheres, and pretty darn good food. Both of them are unique enough that it would be difficult to find an experience like them outside of WDW. Neither of them are so incredibly fantastic that I'd change my plans for the day to go to one over the other. Since Biergarten fits your plans better, I'd go there. Now you'll just have an excuse to plan another trip so you can try 'Ohana!

The *only* thing that would keep me from going to Biergarten is if you don't like the idea of being seated with other people. It didn't bother us in the least. Our table mates were quiet but pleasant.

Tough call! I really love both restaurants and they are both on our family must-do list. We have done both every trip since we started going to WDW in 1998. They are both so different that I would have a hard time choosing between them myself! However, if Biergarten is just easier to get to - I would go ahead and book that ADR. I will suggest that you go over the menus if you haven't already. That way you know for sure as to whether or not the menus fit your family's taste.

I love O'hana and will use any excuse to go to the Polynesian. With that said, we usually make a stop at the Biergarten for lunch on each trip. First, the atmosphere is awesome! The food is good and we have never had an issue being seated with other people. If the place is not crowded, they will probably seat you alone anyway. Your kids will probably enjoy the show and your DH the beer:thumbsup2 Since you are not eating lunch, the early ADR at Biergarten will probably work out well. Enjoy!

Was I crazy to cancel my Le Cellier for later this month? I think places like Ohana, Coral Reef and Le Cellier are more about getting the coveted reservation that it is about the food.

After reading so many negative LC reviews we decided to cancel for Shulas

I hear that! I had actually found a Le Cellier and ALL of my family said EWWWW we don't want that! I showed them pics of food and they said we definitely don't want that.....pffftt...I thought it was funny.

I showed them pics of 'Ohana and Biergarten and they just shrugged their shoulders. I think since DH wants Biergarten and I kind of do too (this is my restaurant pick) then I'm gonna cancel the other. Gonna think on it for a night or two. No hurry since I actually have both the ressies.

Thank you all!!

We have eaten twice at both Ohana and Biergarten, and I think we prefer Biergarten. At Ohana, we found that the beef was overcooked for our tastes and the turkey was dry. We also felt that the service at Ohana really dictates your meal. The bread and apps were barely on the table when they started bringing around the skewers. There was no time to just sit back and enjoy, and this really made a difference in how we felt about the meal. Yes, Biergarten is a buffet, but the hot food is always hot, the salads always cold, and you can have several "courses" without being rushed through anything.

I agree! We ate at Ohana for our first time in August. We won't be going back any time soon. We love the Polynesian and try to make it there every trip. I would definitely go to the Kona Cafe instead. We have eaten there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and loved them all!!

Please cancel the reservation you are not going to use!!!
You are preventing some other family the opportunity for that ADR at a very busy time of year.
