OK, we bought into BLT this past MArch and are taking ourfirst DVC trip in Sept at Kidani. I have never been to Disney at Christmas...so I just booked a long week-end at OKW for the beginning of December!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me what they thought of OKW? It was our only option for the 12/4-12/6 week-end. It looks beautiful.

OKW is our favorite resort. We have had too many stays there to count. Of course, studios are NOT my favorite, but for a long weekend, it will suffice. The grounds are amazing, and we love walking the walkways to HH there. I also like the 3 neighborhood pool area hot tubs. I usually stay away from the main pool to get a little more of the "quiet" in at the 3 smaller ones.

Most of the views are either golf course or water. Our preferred views are buildings 45 and 46, but we also like 15, 16, 21, etc.

I think it's wonderful that you're going to enjoy the way WDW celebrates the holidays. You may very well be beginning a holiday tradition and OKW is a fine place to start! Our first taste of WDW during December was in '02 before we joined DVC and we stayed at S/D and AKL. We've been back every year since!

we were there the first part of Dec this last year and enjoyed it very much. Weather was great, only rained one day. We had the main pool to ourselves pretty much every night we went. Busses were generally frequent and un-crowded.

Word to the wise: I would avoid renting the surrey bike unless you have very strong and in shape legs! We found out the hard way when all five of us rented one. Ouch. I still don't think my wife was trying very hard. :)

You're not crazy. We, too, did a Disney Christmas trip as our first DVC use and absolutely loved it. I bet you'll wind up planning a longer Christmas trip next year ;)

If one is available, you MUST attend MVMCP (you do not need a park ticket, just the extra MVMCP pass will let you into MK at 4PM. You may want to order your MVMCP tickets now.) , and I think the Osborne lights at DHS are also amazing/mandatory. If you can do those, then you will absolutely love your Disney Christmas

(and you may get spoiled in the large OKW rooms, especially 1BR+, as they are the largest on property. The OKW studio is a little different as it will have 2 queen beds, no sofa vs the other DVC studios that only have 1 queen and one pull-out sofa)

We would go to WDW every year the first two weeks of December if it didn't put such a crim in our preparations for the holidays. It is by far our most favorite time of year to visit Disney, but I always feel so far behind with holiday preparations afterward.

We stayed at OKW at the end of April - our first time there. The room size is amazing - I think starting with OKW and going somewhere else might be bad!!:rotfl:

Our DDs(2&5) loved the sand area by the pool and DD5 would not leave the slide at the big pool!!! We had a golf course view and the patio was huge - DFIL & DMIL enjoyed coffee out there in the AM!!!

We also are going this year Nov 28-Dec 5 and this will be our second Christmas trip - the first was my first ever to WDW and since then we have been there 5 times in 2 1/2 years and bought 2 DVC contracts so beware!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We stayed at OKW for the first time last October. We loved the resort. Laid-back and peaceful. DD, who was 6 at the time, and our nieces 8 and 2, loved the pool and the slide too.

You're going to have a wonderful time!

:)
