Am I crazy? 3 & 4 year old... no stroller?

Last year our DS was 3 1/2 and DD was 2 1/2 when we went.
I bought two Maclaren Strollers for the trip.
DS refused to ever go in his.
He wanted to run.
So there we were chasing him trying to push a stroller...:rotfl2:
Not so funny at the time.

It was a Royal Pain carting two strollers and two toddlers on and off the bus.
I said never again.:sad2:
This year we budgeted stroller Rental into our trip.:) $27 a day extra.
I think it will be much easier.

So I vote NO STROLLERS !

I would say your crazy. But you know your kids and if it turns out that you need one you can rent one.

I would say CRAZY! When we went last year our twins were 4.5 and we brought a stroller. My one sondidn't ride in it the first two or three days. But after that he was so glad he had the option to sit in it. And he sure did, often. My other son on the other hand, rode in the stroller just about every minute.
And we are leaving in 6 weeks and I am bringing the strollers again. We have two Maclaren Volo's. they are very compact, easy to fold up and have a carrying strap.

I must be crazy!! Just got back with my 5.5 year old and 3.5 year old and did not bring a stroller. It was so nice not having it. I was so proud of my girls. At the end of the trip I was carrying my little one around a little more but nothing too bad. If you think your kids can handle it I say leave the stroller at home. Have a great trip.

What about bringing the stroller from home and leaving it in your room? Then if you find you need it, you have it for the next day and don't have to pay the rental prices.

I may be biased, though. We're going with a 2 and 4 year old in a few weeks and will definitely be using a stroller for both for several more years. I like it for when we want to get somewhere quickly and for when we're going through someplace crowded so I don't worry about losing them.

I go with the CRAZY theme here (sorry, but you asked!). Wow - your kids are small, their legs are small, their feet are small...and the bag you will be carrying might be big!!! We use our stroller a lot, even if no one is in it. Bring an umbrella stroller or light-weight stroller and I think you will be so happy!

I agree with nm0859, check the budget boards for a stroller swap. Some of them are free. I am trying this for the first time and travelling with DGD (almost 3) and DGS (will turn 5 on this trip). Even if you have to park it for a portion of the day, it will be easier than trying to wake a child to "walk", or for that matter to carry them, to the bus or car. Good luck with your decision. One other suggestion. What about a single stroller since you have one who is a bit older? That way if one of them is tired, they can ride. There are single stroller swaps on the budget board as well.

I have to go with crazy too!!! We'll be taking our big, cumbersome Graco double that daddy will have to push for 10 days for our 4 and 5 y/o DD'S!!:rolleyes1

We are taking a two yr old, he does not like the stroller either. Here is an idea; the stroller swaps are cheap ($20 for the length of your stay). Sign up for one of the dbl stroller swaps that way you are not spending alot it you need it and just leave it in your room on the days and times you do not want to use it.

Good Luck! with your decision.
The budget board has a list of stroller swaps check one for your dates!

I took a stroller for DD6 on our most recent trip. She's tiny for her age and I couldn't imagine making her walk all that way day after day with her little legs, LOL. She probably could do it, but *I* prefer the stroller. I walk fast and don't want to walk at her pace. DH doesn't go and I don't want to be the one carrying DD after she's too tired or falls asleep. And I rather like having the basket for storage of all my stuff. I don't push it from attraction to attraction but park it in a central location in each land or section of the park. I love having it for rope drop though, and for getting back to the bus stop at park closing.

I'm not looking forward to the next trip when DD is too old for it.

vote me crazy.. cuz i did it when mine was 4.. but i only had one.. i swear hes hyper active LOL
anyhow as long as my husband has shoulders then my son had a place to sit LOL

Don't go without one. We did disney with our DS's who were 3 and 6 with one stroller and there were time's that the 6 year old was begging his brother for a ride. They are young and get real tired and you do not want to have to carry anyone.

I say crazy, for my family, but you know your family and what will be the best for you. Have a wondeful trip!

My vote ..NOT CRAZY. You know your kids. If they don't ride in one much and didn't last time why burden yourself this time? My 4 y/0 didn't ride in one once our entire trip and we had 10 hr park days. She even outpaced us. but I knew that she would she hated the stroller before we left.

I had my head bitten off for posting my opinion about this subject on another thread, but I'll share my experience here as well.
My DD4, is NEVER in her stroller at home...she says she's a big girl and doesn't want/need it. Disney is entirely different to just being home and using a stroller. We DIDN'T take one for our daughter on our trip a few weeks ago. By the second day, daddy was carrying her and she was riding on his shoulders. By the third day, we rented. So my advice is, even if you don't think you'll need it, take it anyway just incase.
Have a great trip

Crazy? More like out of you ever lovin' mind!;)
Disney is not like being at home. No matter how much you think the kids can walk, they always tucker out at WDW.

I would take or rent a stroller. When my kids were younger we did rent the big double strollers at Disney/Zoo/Sea World, etc. until they were pretty old. The last time we were at Disney the kids were 4 & 8. I wouldn't have dreamed of not having a stroller with them. DD (who was 8 at the time) didn't sit in it all the time, but when she did want to sit down it was such a blessing to have a place for her to take a break while we kept on going.

yep, crazy.. Mine will turn 4 and 5 my next trip and we joined a stroller swap. This way I have more room in the car since we are driving down.

Trina!!!! :wave2:

OK...have you checked out the stroller swaps? Would be cheaper than renting one there...and you won't have to bring yours from home. I saw a sit and stand one but i'm not sure what dates were available.

I would say no except for the 3 year old. I don't know if I could handle a 3 and 4 year old without a stroller. But it seems like it was a such a pain to you last time that they may not need it.

Last year my 4 year old was almost 5 and she did great. I made sure to feed her extra snacks even if she said she wasn't hungry because she burned off calories a lot faster. She got cranky if I didn't feed her on a regular basis. My husband didn't mind occassionally carrying her and it was so much easier without a stroller.
